Genetic Ascension

Chapter 1160: Swallow

Sylas exhaled a breath, and the shattered world around him seemed to reform in on itself, the Runes fusing back into their original forms and reanimating into the world.

It was almost a beautiful sight to behold, one that was hard to put into words unless you witnessed it personally.

It was like the world was formed of puzzle pieces that radiated their own mystery when put together, and right now, under the effects of the Pride Seed, Sylas could feel it more clearly and wholly than ever before.

He could sense the very fabric of the Mesh of Reality—not just its existence, but the underlying emotion within it. It was like he could feel out the heartbeat of the world, reach out…

And crush it.

BANG!

The world around Sylas shattered once again, this time even more completely than before. Chaos surged, and the world split and whined.

This wasn’t the effect of the Pride Seed. It was the effect of Sylas’ Unravelling Pupils. However, when the two came together, it was like it called for the destruction of the world.

Sylas could feel the abilities of the True Pride Seed far more clearly than he had sensed Gluttony or Lust.

As far as he knew right now, the Gluttony Seed was capable of swallowing Destiny and bolstering the impact of his Will, allowing it to exert its force on things with larger mass—

A moment of enlightenment suddenly hit Sylas like a truck.

‘I finally… understand…’

For the longest time, Sylas had been wondering why his telekinesis was so finicky. Why could it exert its power only based on the weight of an item he was targeting?

But that was the key the entire time. It wasn’t weight—it was mass. And most accurately, it was the impact of said mass on the Mesh of Reality.

His telekinesis was always interacting with the world through the Mesh of Reality. However, an item, depending on its mass, would curve the Mesh of Reality.

When an item had more mass, the Mesh of Reality would curve more around it, making it more difficult for Sylas’ own telekinesis to exert the same influence.

Sylas almost felt stupid.

It was simple, so very simple. An explanation he could have come to when he was a child.

As for why? Wasn’t that just a unique application of the Theory of Relativity?

That same concept also explained why he could exert more power if he coated his fist with Aetherflow rather than just sending out a fist.

If he sent out a fist, it had to maintain its influence on the Mesh of Reality by itself, but if he coated his fist instead, his body was already exerting its influence, and then his telekinesis could match and increase that influence on top of it.

Sylas had spent so long experiencing the world around him—this new world he was in—as though it were completely separate from anything and everything he had ever known, not realizing that Earth’s science was still a solid enough foundation for where he was starting and where he needed to go…

The sudden enlightenment made Sylas realize that there was great potential for synergy between his Progenitor Flame Abilities, his telekinesis, and maybe even his Sin Seeds on top of that.

‘Lust… Pride…’

Sylas regained his focus with new fervor.

If that was what the Gluttony Seed was capable of, he knew that the Lust Seed was capable of making his Charisma more potent, and it was also capable of undoing the restrictions on the Genes of his lovers, allowing him to take them for himself.

Though, Sylas realized that it didn’t necessarily need to be used like that either. He bet that with the Lust Seed, using it as a proxy to observe and comprehend Genes he would otherwise be unable to understand would be possible as well. And if the True Pride Seed was added on top of that…

It wouldn’t need to be lovers at all.

The first ability of the Pride Seed that Sylas sensed was akin to [Suppressive Scouting], but on a whole other level.

His Will had practically become like a sledgehammer capable of bearing down and crushing all intention of an opponent. If he wielded it, someone with a Will much weaker than his own would find themselves simply unable to do battle at all.

Such a target would need great protective treasures to be able to survive an exchange of Wills with Sylas, because even with [Suppressive Scouting] alone, Sylas had been able to destroy the protective items of several Thryskai, let alone now.

Though, to be fair, those protective items were designed only to protect against Scouting Skills, not Will attacks. Items designed for the latter would be far more powerful.

The True Pride Seed was almost akin to a far more powerful Compelling Gaze… and that was where its synergy with Sylas’ Runeweaver Eyes came into play.

However, setting synergy aside for a moment, there was another power that Pride seemed to have.

Sylas’ Demonic Will… it came alive after his True Pride Seed was formed, roaring for life and attention as though it had finally been released from its cage.

It thrummed in Sylas’ body, begging for more.

Sylas’ Demonic Will had never vanished. It continued to grow alongside Sylas’ Will, but as Sylas’ Will grew firmer and more powerful, his Demonic Will had little need to interfere with things as much as it did before.

Now, however, it wasn’t quite accurate to say that it was interfering—rather, it was blooming into a new form and life.

If the Lust Seed could steal and observe Genes, the Pride Seed was capable of analyzing Wills, observing them, and snatching something that hid within them, swallowing them up.

When Sylas realized this was the case, he also realized that he had been looking at his Mixed Demonic Arts Comprehension all wrong.

It wasn’t just there to read and react to the martial arts of the person he was battling…

It was there to swallow their Comprehension!

And now, Sylas’ Pride Seed could go a layer deeper than that, even snatching Will Abilities.
