Chapter 995  What He Needed

Sylas squeezed down and another one died.

”Not this one either… I didnʼt think it would be so rare…”

He weaved through the battlefield, trying to get a feel for it. But unfortunately, unless he set hands on the person in question, it didnʼt seem enough for him to grasp what he needed to.

It wasnʼt like he was targeting people randomly either. He was choosing the strongest of them on purpose, and yet he was still failing again, and again, and then again.

ʼAre there just none here? No… keep trying.ʼ

…

Sylas weaved through the battlefield like a madman. Many had long since learned to give him a wide berth, but it still wasnʼt enough to avoid him.

Even with a woman over his shoulders, his ability to fly was devastating. Even if they wanted to run, the battlefield was far too chaotic. They would end up running into too many others who wanted their heads to even have a chance.

At some point, they started to see Sylas like the plague. He didnʼt even seem to be on the leaderboard at all, he was just killing for the sake of killing as though he enjoyed it.

This filled them with a great amount of fear, and suddenly the legend of the Titan Sylas began to spread far and wide.

…

”Let me go.” A young man growled. ”This is my battlefield too. You think we can just let those sluts take control of everything? This is our chance as well.”

The young man practically oozed arrogance, but incompetence wasnʼt tied to him. He just seemed… genuinely annoyed that he was being held back by his elders so much.

”We still havenʼt assessed the situation properly, young prince. We canʼt send you out. The only ones fighting so hard right now are doing so because they donʼt have a choice. But you do.”

”I havenʼt honed myself in anything but perfectly curated Dungeons. How am I supposed to make it onto the Titan Leaderboard if Iʼm not even allowed to do this much?”

”Young prince, we are from a world in its Third Generation. We have perfectly laid out everything since our successful Summoning, and we cannot afford to lose our investments now. Controlling a bazaar so early on is a great chance, but itʼs also even more precisely for this reason that we cannot afford to mess things up.”

The young man took a breath and finally exhaled.

He understood this principle, but he just felt suffocated. Every time he saw that name—Sylas Grimblade—pop up, he only felt more antsy.

He also wanted to be out there, he also wanted the freedom of feeling the heavy weight of a worldʼs future on his shoulders, he also wanted the chance to push through it all and come out on top time and time again.

But he would never have that opportunity. Not with his father, grandfather, and great-grandfather still alive. And of them, only his great-grandfather truly had experienced what that felt like.

BANG!

The young prince only had time to barely feel the energy of the old man by his side flare up when a man he never thought he would see in person so soon appeared.

Pa. Pa. Pa.

Sparks of emerald lightning filled the skies as Sylas shrugged Lorien off of his shoulders again.

”Young prince, run.” The old man growled out the command, his eyes filled with a sharp fierceness. A staff flashed into his palm and an orb of light wrapped around the young prince.

Unfortunately, the light shattered just as it began to take form, a Will wrapping around the treasure.

The old man ripped back control, but the timing was off. His wrinkled eyes flashed and he took a step to the side, blocking Sylasʼ straight line to the prince with a violent swing of his staff as though it had become a club instead.

Sylasʼ own pupils constricted, feeling a great amount of danger. It was odd. This old man didnʼt have a Will as strong as Yvette, but he filled Sylas with a far greater amount of danger.

ʼItems. Treasures…ʼ

The understanding dawned on Sylas. This old man had an oddly high concentration of powerful items on him. All of the Petals of the Seeing Thorn women he had seen until now were basically all carrying around normal leveled weapons.

But this old man, that staff in his hand, the robes on his shoulders, even the boots on his feet.

All of them were Legendary Path items.

ʼRecently Summoned World.ʼ Sylas concluded instantly.

With a thought, Sylasʼ body vanished into a streak of emerald lightning. There was no way he was engaging with such a person directly, but he had his own methods.

The Scorpion Warlord Armor took shape over his body as the old man swung at air and missed.

Originally, Sylasʼ target was going to be the young man. But if his deductions were correct, the old man should have what he needed as well. The odds were high if this was truly a recently Summoned World.

If the old man had so many treasures on him, then the young man easily had ten times more. It wouldnʼt take a genius to figure that out.

A plan formulated in Sylasʼ head instantly and then he took action.

The Basilisk King suddenly appeared, manifesting behind the prince the old man should have been protecting.

Suddenly feeling such a powerful expert appear, the old man was shocked and immediately turned, rushing back to the prince to stop him from being harmed.

Of course, the old man wasnʼt stupid enough to forget Sylas entirely. He had already slapped at his chest, activating the covered him. He only needed it to last just one attack, but these robes were already good enough to survive three from a Level 51.

Unfortunately, Sylas was no normal Level 50.

There was a pulse in Sylasʼ eyes and the Runes that formed the shield around the man were suddenly torn apart.

BANG!

Sylasʼ claw ripped into the old manʼs heart from the back.

”Uncle Fiz!”

Sylas turned a deaf ear to it all, leaping into the air with his telekinesis and vanishing as though he didnʼt mind Gogoʼs safety in the slightest.

He had gotten what he needed.

A member of this galaxyʼs Overlord Races.
