Reincarnated as an Energy with a System

Chapter 1973: Left Handed

Jun’Tal repeated several of the names quietly, especially the ones that sounded more dangerous than the rest, before looking back toward Emma. ”And you think I can turn the energy I create into all of those?”

”In theory, yes, but that doesn’t mean you’ll be able to do it immediately,” Emma said. ”Since your power naturally falls into kinetic energy, and you already understand how that can produce heat, we’ll start from there and slowly force it into other forms.”

Jun’Tal considered that for a moment. ”Which one are we starting with?”

”Sound.”

He blinked. ”How am I supposed to turn energy into sound?”

Emma lifted one hand, and a moment later, a deafening boom suddenly tore across the island.

Jun’Tal flinched hard enough that his shoulders jumped, while the sound rolled through the nearby forest and sent several birds flying away from the trees. Even after the noise faded, he continued staring at Emma with wide eyes.

She lowered her hand calmly. ”Like that.”

Jun’Tal gave her an irritated look. ”That doesn’t explain how you did it at all.”

Emma smiled slightly. ”Sound is just energy propagating outward through a medium, usually air. You already know how to create energy, so instead of letting it stay concentrated around your hand and become heat, you need to make it spread outward as a wave.”

Jun’Tal lifted one hand and tried to imagine what she meant.

The air shimmered faintly above his palm, but the only sound that came from it was a quiet crackle. He stopped, tried again with a slightly different approach, and produced almost the exact same result.

Emma remained silent while he attempted it several more times.

Each time, most of the energy became heat.

Jun’Tal finally lowered his hand with visible frustration. ”It’s not working. I keep thinking about sound, but all I’m getting is the same heat as before.”

”There is some sound,” Emma said.

Jun’Tal looked at her. ”That little crackling noise is coincidental.”

”Then figure out how that coincidence happens and force it to happen more often,” Emma replied. ”If your power produces sound even accidentally, then the ability is already capable of doing what we want.”

Jun’Tal stared at her as though she had just made the problem sound even harder. ”I don’t think I can just figure that out because you told me to.”

Emma studied him for a moment before suddenly changing the subject. ”Are you right-handed or left-handed?”

The question caught Jun’Tal off guard.

”Right-handed.”

Emma bent down, picked up two small rocks from the ground, and handed one of them to him. ”Throw this as far as you can using your right hand.”

Jun’Tal looked at the rock, shrugged, and threw it across the open area. It traveled a decent distance before landing farther along the beach.

Emma handed him the second one. ”Now do the same thing with your left hand.”

Jun’Tal switched hands and threw again, but the difference was obvious almost immediately. The second rock traveled less smoothly and landed much closer than the first.

Emma looked toward him. ”Why couldn’t you throw it as far?”

”Because that’s my non-dominant hand.”

”There are plenty of people who use their left hand as their dominant hand,” Emma said. ”So why can they throw properly with it while you can’t?”

Jun’Tal frowned, already starting to understand what she was trying to tell him. ”Because I’m not used to using mine that way.”

”Exactly,” Emma said. ”There’s nothing physically preventing your left hand from throwing just as well as your right one. You simply haven’t practiced enough for the movement to feel natural.”

Jun’Tal looked toward his palm again.

”The same thing applies here,” Emma continued. ”There isn’t a perfect sequence of movements or some special thought that will automatically turn your energy into sound. You think about what you want the energy to do, and eventually your power learns to follow that intention.”

”So I just keep trying until it works?”

”You keep trying until it stops feeling strange,” Emma corrected. ”Right now, your instincts are used to producing kinetic energy and heat because that’s all you’ve practiced. If you want sound to become just as natural, then you need to train it until your power reacts the way you expect without you struggling over every little step.”

Jun’Tal remained quiet for a moment as he thought about what she had said.

Emma pointed toward his hand again. ”You already told me the sound was coincidental, which is actually useful. Pay attention whenever that coincidence happens, figure out what felt different during that attempt, and then try to reproduce the same thing deliberately.”

Jun’Tal slowly nodded.

He raised his hand again and focused.

For several seconds, the familiar shimmer of heat appeared around his palm.

Then a faint pop came from the air.

Jun’Tal’s eyes narrowed as he noticed it.

He took a breath and tried again.

Emma stood to the side, watching. Ning walked over to her and leaned in. ”It’s not so simple to transform energy when his power has nothing to do with it,” he said. ”Why are you telling him he has a chance?”

”Well, I’m trying something,” Emma said. ”The thing that will be the greatest hurdle for him to do what he’s doing is the basic confidence in whether he can do it or not in the first place. If I can somehow lie and make him think the conversion itself is a foregone conclusion, he won’t have a single chance to doubt it.”

Ning turned toward his daughter with a strange look on his face. ”That’s quite an interesting method, I won’t lie.”

She grinned slightly. ”Isn’t it?”

Ning nodded. ”Do you think he will be able to use Qi or Mana and the like?”

”He might, but the world won’t sustain that energy, so it’s not like he can cultivate,” Emma said. ”The best option of all is to use the technique that belongs to this world. I’m assuming there is one.”

”Oh, there is,” Ning said. ”And his powers will no doubt make him the strongest.”
