Ning, Tim, and Jasmine arrived at the hotel where they had stayed before and found the concierge.

”Sir Ning. We indeed do have a letter for you, the woman at the front desk said as she grabbed a letter from a pile that sat beneath her desk.

She handed it over to Ning, who took it and looked at it.

Ning wanted to open it instantly, but the envelope caught his attention, making him stop. His eyes narrowed as he looked at it.

Jasmine looked over his shoulders, reading the name. ”Jacob Trowfeel. Is that the inventorʼs manager?” she asked curiously. She read the address too, and it was another hotel in the city, about half an hourʼs walk away. ”Whatʼs wrong, sir Ning? Is something up with the letter?” Tim asked. ”Is it the name?”

Jasmine looked at. Ningʼs face and saw him staring at the letter as though something incredible had caught his eye.

”This...” Ning pointed at the corner of the envelope at a small logo of some sort that was stamped onto it. ”This is what I think it is, isnʼt it?”

Tim looked and gasped a little in surprise. ”Weʼre quite lucky,” he said. ”That is the logo of the Eastwind Trading Company.”

”Naman Reyworld, Ning said softly. ”Do you think we will be able to hit two birds with one stone?”

”Maybe?” Jasmine said. ”Open it. Read what it says!”

Ning turned around and saw the same logo stamped onto the wax seal on the back of the envelope. He tore it open and took out the document from inside.

The letter didnʼt say much and was barely two paragraphs long. Ning still read it.

Sir Ning, I am Jacob, the manager of the great Inventor Zarius Bracksfort. I heard about your wish to invest in Sir Zarius, and I wish to tell you that there is no such need. Our Eastwind Trading Company is more than enough for Sir Zarius.

However, because the decision to accept your offer or not falls under Sir Zarius, I will allow you to make your case to me on his behalf. Come over to the address written on the back of the envelope within 3 days of receiving it as that is how long I will stay in this city. I hope I will see you soon.

Ning read through the letter and smiled. ”Not bad. We got a shot at meeting Zarius,” he said. ”Letʼs go meet him.ʼ

The three left the hotel, going over to the other one where Jacob stayed, and asked to find him.

Jacob seemed to have been away for the day, so Ning and the rest had to wait. To wait, they simply got themselves a room at the hotel.

Ning and the rest were in their room when a knock was heard at the door. Tim opened the door, and a middle-aged man with a dark suit and black top hat looked in through the door.

”I was told this is where I would find sir Ning!” the man said.

”I am Ning.” Ning stood up. He walked up to the man. ”You must be sir Jacob!

They shook hands.

The old man Jacob stared at Ning for a while before moving his eyes away. ”Iʼm sorry. I was told you were young, but I did not expect you to be this young”

”Thatʼs what everyone says,” Ning said. ”Donʼt mind my age.”

Jacob nodded slowly.

Ning looked out the door and a group of men stood outside. ”Are those your bodyguards?” he asked. ”Yes, they are,” Jacob said. ”Iʼm sorry, but Iʼm required to bring them with me wherever I go. I hope their presence doesnʼt bother you.”

”Not at all,” Ning said. ”So, the thing you said in your letter. You wanted me to make my case.”

”Yes,” Jacob said. ”Am I correct in assuming that you wish to invest in Sir Zarius, and offer him money so he can continue inventing more items.”

”That is indeed the case, Ning said.

”May I ask how much net worth you have and how much you wish to invest in Sir Zarius?” Jacob asked. ”First, is it okay if I ask how much the Eastwind trading company invests in Sir Zarius yearly?” Ning asked. ”We are the major investor, coming in at about 70% of the entire investment, while about. 9 other investors make up the rest of the investment. We started with lower numbers, but with each year, our investment. amount has grown!”

”Now, we invest around 20 thousand gold coins per year in Sir Zarius to make sure he has everything he needs to make his discoveries and inventions.”

Ning raised his eyebrow. ”20 thousand gold coins, huh? Thatʼs not little,ʼ he said.

”No, it is not, Jacob said.

”Do you mind if I ask how you get the money back?” Ning asked.

”The inventions Sir Zarius makes are patented and trademarked. Each of those trademarks is owned by us and the others who invest in his inventions. When those inventions are turned into products, we get a cut of the benefit, based on how much we invested.”

”Sir Zarius gets a percentage too mind you, and it is dependent on how much we consider the invention to be useful, or how much time he invested in it!

Ning thought for a moment. ”How much does 20 thousand gold coins get you in terms of the share of the sale! he asked. ”Do you get 30% or more?”

”We get 49% of the cut,” Jacob said. ”Sir Zarius gets 30%. The rest is divided among the other investors based on how much they provided.”

”I see, Ning said as he thought for a moment. I think I know what it is that I want to invest.”

”Please tell me,” Jacob said. ”If you can invest a good amount, I can-”

Ning brought out 30 bricks of gold out of nowhere, the total amount immediately reaching 30 thousand gold coins.

”This feels about right to me,” Ning said. ”Will this get me in touch with Sir Zarius by any chance?”
