The Epic Tale of Chaos vs Order

Chapter 2107: Teaching The Flow

Just as Cain and Ikari prepared to resume their duel, the rhythm of battle was interrupted.

From one of the crystalline corridors leading into the chamber, a new presence emerged — silent yet unmistakably powerful.

A young woman stepped through the shimmering mist. She was clad in a long black coat trimmed with white fur, its seams laced with golden sigils that glowed faintly like molten veins beneath ice. A smooth, featureless mask covered her face, two spiraling green eyes pulsing faintly from within it — like twin stars caught in perpetual motion.

Not even a fraction of a nanosecond after her appearance, Ikari reacted. The knight turned on his heel, his body flickering into a blur of light as he darted toward one of the crystalline passages leading out of the chamber.

The man did not hesitate — not even for a heartbeat.

The newcomer was Alita, one of the strongest warriors of the Life Path in the Third Realm, and a formidable Peak Arch-Deity. Ikari was fearless, but he was no fool. Facing Cain alone had already stretched his limits. To confront both of them at once would mean certain death.

So he fled.

”Hmph.” Cain’s snarl echoed softly across the chamber as he watched the man vanish into the corridors, yet his tone carried no contempt, only understanding. In battle, survival was not cowardice — only pragmatism.

A faint hum filled the space as the raging energy faded, leaving only the broken remains of the once-radiant floor. Alita’s voice followed soon after, calm and steady.

”It seems there was quite the fight here.”

Her tone carried a hint of amazement, though her masked face betrayed nothing.

Cain allowed himself a small smile. ”You could say that.”

He lowered himself to the ground, crossing his legs as he began channeling his inner energy. The bones, muscles, and tendons in his upper right body had been shredded, liquefied by Ikari’s vibrating sword. Closing his eyes, he drew upon his Depravita Aura and life force to reshape his body from within.

Alita watched in silence. Then, without a word, she summoned her sword. She planted herself a few meters away, standing guard while he healed.

As she stood watch, Alita’s eyes lingered on Cain’s forehead, and a faint frown formed behind her mask as she perceived the uniqueness in it.

The red crown — that strange, radiant sigil glowing just above his brow — pulsed with quiet authority. Neither she nor Ikari possessed such a mark, and she could not help but connect it to the colossal entity that had shattered free from the statue in the sky.

Questions bloomed in her mind, dark and insistent.

But she pushed them aside.

She and Cain were not close enough for such exchanges. They were allies by circumstance, not by trust. Though both served the Life Path, they had known each other for less than six months — hardly long enough to bare the secrets of their souls.

Her gaze shifted to the golden lotus hovering faintly below the crown, and surprise flickered in her eyes.

Three petals had already unfurled — each one glowing with glorious radiance, emanating a sense of divine perfection.

Although her core mission was to kill the Crimson Exarch, she could perceive the might of The Flow, so she had done her best to learn as much as she could in the past five months, allowing what she considered a great level of success, having recently made the first golden petal bloom.

Cain, however, seemed to have already stepped toward the fourth petal. His resonance with The Flow was vastly beyond hers, even though her own soul force stood just shy of the Alpha–Omega Overgod Rank.

That realization sparked a quiet awe — and something close to envy.

Still, she breathed deeply, centering herself. There was no time to dwell on pride. The labyrinth devoured those who hesitated.

Her energy revolved slowly, raising her aura in readiness. She remained at her post, guarding Cain as the reconstruction continued.

Minutes went by.

Finally, Cain opened his eyes. His right arm flexed smoothly — new bones, new sinew, all reborn under his control. He rolled his shoulder once, testing the strength, then rose to his feet.

He inclined his head toward Alita. ”Thank you,” he said simply.

She nodded. Gratitude was unnecessary among warriors, but acknowledgment was always earned.

Cain pointed toward one of the tunnels. ”That’s the way forward.”

Without hesitation, Alita followed.

They advanced together through corridors of translucent crystal, the air humming with soft vibrations of divine power. It didn’t take long before they reached another sealed chamber.

Cain stepped forward to break the seal, but Alita raised a hand.

”I would like to ask a favor,” she said. Her voice was calm but carrying a trail of craving. ”Could you allow me to take the lead and guide me. I want to learn more about The Flow. I promise, I won’t slow you down.”

Cain studied her for a long moment. Teaching was not something he was very good at or enjoyed. Not to mention that his understanding of The Flow came from instinct, not theory. Yet, he knew that explaining a concept to another was often the fastest way to deepen one’s own comprehension.

He couldn’t truly teach The Flow; its core essence still eluded him. But here, in this sacred place where the principles of creation and balance flooded every particle of air, he could guide her through resonance and instinct.

After a brief pause, he nodded. ”Very well.”

Alita smiled faintly beneath her mask and stepped forward.

With Cain’s calm guidance, she extended her senses into the door’s sigils, tracing their rhythm, attuning her mind to the faint currents that wove through the stone. The barrier pulsed in response. Together, they unraveled it piece by piece, like dismantling the locks of an ancient melody.

When the last rune faded, the door parted, revealing the next chamber — a cathedral of light, shifting like a living being.

Alita led the way. Cain followed close behind, observing and advising her movements.

Together, they traversed one chamber after another, their synergy growing with every challenge. Each challenge, each puzzle, each trial refined Alita’s synchronization with The Flow. Her aura brightened with every success, the rhythm of her steps harmonizing with the labyrinth itself.

And as he guided her, Cain too evolved. The golden light within his eyes grew deeper, purer. Teaching her forced him to articulate patterns he had once only felt. Through her questions and missteps, he rediscovered layers of meaning hidden in the first level of The Flow — truths he had overlooked when relying on instinct alone.

The two warriors advanced relentlessly, senses expanded to the edge of awareness, searching both for enemies of the Freedom Path and for any comrades from the Life Path. Yet the First Ring of the labyrinth was vast — so vast that even after months of travel, they encountered no other living beings.

Finally, after eight and a half months within the crystalline maze, they reached its end.
