The Epic Tale of Chaos vs Order

Chapter 511 Facing an oceanic horde (I)

Lord Kabuto did not say another word as he flashed toward the massive city built around the golden tree, soon landing in front of a massive platform nearly two thousand meters wide.

Cain and the other challengers did not hesitate before flashing toward the platform. Still, they did so at a regular rhythm, as trying to prove their speed now would only show their weak mentality since it was already defined the fastest.

As they descended, Cain scanned the rest of the challengers, and his eyes narrowed as he detected that one of them resembled Arthemis, the woman who reacted with rage when he monopolized the Spatial Rift Grotto.

If that were all, Cain would not think much of it, but the man also seemed to be a master of the Law of Space. Although Cain inspected the man without turning in his direction, the Deus Behemoth constantly glanced at him with flashes of anger.

ʼIf I must guess, the man was surely going to enter the Spatial Rift Grotto before the tournament, but I pushed him out. If he were also that womanʼs family, it would explain her rash reaction.ʼ

All these thoughts crossed Cainʼs mind, but they were just afterthoughts since he did not care if the man disliked him. Even if he had known beforehand that he would gain the hate of another contestant, he would have still entered the grotto without hesitation.

Where there was a winner, there would most likely be a loser, and Cain could not live his life thinking how his good fortune could affect others.

It did not take long for the ten contestants to arrive at the platform and saw grades full of people from the Solis Clan who seemed to come to watch the tournament.

However, what truly drew their attention were the ten golden formations in the middle of the platform.

Lord Kabuto stared at the ten contestants before his eyes began to burst with a golden light full of killing intent that flooded the surroundings, making the air grow cold to the point that the water particles in the air froze, generating a fog.

Cain and the other contestants were surprised to feel the sudden burst of slaughter intent from the peaceful old man, and all of them were forced to trigger their Ego Wave to endure the pressure.

”As all of you should know, the cataclysm that befell Aether not only shattered the sky and scorched the earth but also provoked the rise of endless hordes of oceanic Wave Beasts that killed millions upon millions of Deus Behemoths living in coastal cities. Such savagery and death cannot be forgotten.

Every single one of you will get into one of the Sunlight Formations and go to a ravaged coastal city. You have twelve hours to kill as many Wave Beasts as possible. Only the top five will pass to the next stage.”

After uttering those chilling words, Lord Kabuto sent a golden orb to every one of the contestants.

”The Sunlight Orb will monitor every single kill you make, and after twelve hours, I will cover your bodies with sunlight and flash you back to this location. Of course, if the danger is too much, you can shatter it ahead of time to escape, but that will mean you are disqualified.”

The contestants tightened their grip on the golden orb. Although the Wave King Deus Behemoths were all very powerful, they were about to be sent to the shores of the Hyperion Continent, which were overwhelmed with Wave Beasts.

A Wave King could kill a King Beast without much problem and fight dozens of Wave Champion Beasts simultaneously, and each contestant was at least able to deploy Peak Wave King battle power. However, they were about to be sent into hordes with thousands of Wave Champion beasts and hundreds of King Beasts.

They could die before triggering the Sunlight Orb if they made a mistake or were too slow, ending their glorious path as food for ferocious beasts. Understanding that, it made sense that the first test would be one that proved speed and agility.

”Godslayer Human, you will take the Sunlight Teleportation to the farthest right. The rest can choose according to your wishes.”

Cainʼs brow raised as he heard that command. He was the only one sent to a specific location, while the rest could choose according to their instincts. His eyes narrowed as he was sure that the place he would go would not be exactly the safest, but he did not say a word and walked silently to the formation.

Lord Zanginisʼ eyes narrowed as he saw that, and he could not help but frown. His Ego Wave was strong enough to perceive the location that those formations connected to, and he was certain that the place Cain would be sent to was the most dangerous of all.

Of course, while the Patriarch of the Zanginis Clan was angry, some smiled as they saw Lord Kabutoʼs bias toward Cain. The contestants and their families were the happiest, as Cain was immensely talented, but it seemed that the Patriarch of the Solis Clan was going to do all in his power to avoid giving his bloodline to a human.

As soon as all the participants settled into one of the Sunlight Formations, the formations started to emit a bright light. It covered each contestant with sunlight and propelled them away at an incredible speed, almost comparable to the speed of light.

Even though that was an exaggeration, each contestant moved at a speed that allowed them to cover hundreds of thousands of kilometers in mere minutes.

Lord Kabutoʼs eyes focused on the beam of light that carried Cain, and he began to clench his fists with so much strength that they nearly began to bleed.

ʼRed robe, the Law of Blood, and that red force field. If he surpasses this next test, then...ʼ

The old man did not carry on with that train of thought anymore but could not hide the meaningful light that appeared in his eyes.
