Greatest Legacy of the Magus Universe

After escaping from the Sun Temple, Valerian helped heal Adam.

Days later, Adam’s severed hand regenerated in an inexplicable manner. Even Venia, who knew almost everything about Adam, did not anticipate this. She could not even understand the underlying principles of the regeneration magic in play.

Regardless, the story did not steer drastically from her desired development.

***

Adam met Luca Claudius.

Luca had already begun suspecting Adam as the latter arrived on Myrrandor without passing through Carina. He planned to do a thorough background check on Adam once they escaped the secret plane.

This was completely out of Venia’s expectations!

The more individuals with power and influential backgrounds got involved in the story, the more carefully Venia needed to tread. As if the attention of the Old Mistress wasn’t enough.

Things were getting more dire for Venia.

She needed to conclude the story quickly!

On their journey to scout the lands beyond the Lamiyan Mountains, Adam and Luca coincidentally ran into the monsters who had kidnapped Genevieve.

Naturally, she was rescued. As expected of a descendant of Miracle. Her luck is truly something.

As the three rested in the embrace of false security, the Vampire King sent his servants to recapture Genevieve. Among the servants was Dorian Moreau. And secretly following them to ensure the success of the retrieval mission was none other than Sandra.

Soon, the trio was attacked by the vampires.

Although Luca killed his opponent, in the end he was bested by Sandra and left to die.

Dorian poisoned Adam with the Nerve-Severing Toxin, making his body unresponsive. Adam’s body was so strange. It had unexpectedly begun to expel the foreign toxins inside his system. As expected of the many of many secrets! Even his body is mysterious!

Still, his body could not expel the poison fast enough. Just when Dorian Moreau was about to kill him, Valerian shot out of his spirit sea and fought the vampire!

The younger brother valiantly fought Dorian, but he was no match. The poor dragon was beaten mercilessly. When Dorian noticed Valerian’s blood, he was mesmerized by it. He realized that the blood was very special. And so, gluttony took hold of him, and he ignored Adam and rushed to devour Valerian.

Pitiful Valerian was scared to die. And cold-hearted Venia had deactivated his amulet’s defensive functions. She needed Adam to witness this and realize something very important—that he was incapable of protecting Valerian.

In that moment, Adam experienced wrath unlike ever before!

Valerian was his reverse scale. He would burn worlds to ashes for his little brother. Adam loved Valerian more than his real siblings ever could. Enraged beyond reason, Adam brutally and violently murdered the vampires.

He was like a demon of the Abyss as he went on a rampage!

But in the end, although he had managed to save his little brother, he was unable to save Genevieve. Sandra had intervened. She pretended to kill Adam for the eyes of the Vampire King. She secretly gave him a map and left with the girl.

Adam healed Valerian’s injuries. But he was so heartbroken. He realized he was too weak to protect his little brother in this new world.

Just inside the secret plane, there were beings more powerful than Adam. What would happen once they returned to the material world?

This time, Valerian had nearly died because of Adam’s weakness.

That was why Adam had always been so adamant about Valerian staying inside his spirit sea. It was the safest place for his little brother. But that safety came at the cost of freedom.

Adam hated restricting Valerian’s freedom. He knew his little brother very well. He knew that he loved exploring, playing, and following him around. Keeping Valerian confined felt cruel to him.

Yet what choice did Adam have?

Every time he allowed Valerian to accompany him, he was gambling with his life. And every time he instructed Valerian to stay inside his spirit sea, he was taking away a piece of his freedom.

Adam hated both choices.

But after seeing Valerian’s current condition, he hated himself even more!

If only Adam had been stronger, he wouldn’t have to choose between protecting Valerian and letting him live freely.

He wondered if it had been wise to refuse to hand Valerian over to the Somnia Clan when he had the chance. If he had, Valerian would have grown up in a safer environment, never having to worry about anything in life.

Adam knew that the Somnia Clan was a better place for Valerian to grow up than by his side. But he loved Valerian so much. He could not let him go. He wanted him by his side. Forever. He was selfish. So very selfish. He told himself he was protecting Valerian.

But deep down, Adam knew he just couldn’t bear to let Valerian go. He couldn’t bear the thought of being separated from his little brother, whom he had raised and loved and cherished all his life.

As Adam saw Valerian’s tiny, injured figure, he realized that he had made a wrong choice back then.

He was unfit to raise Valerian in this new world. He was weak. So weak. He feared what would happen if Valerian’s true identity was ever found out.

Adam had been selfish. So very selfish.

With that, the seed of doubt and fear had been completely planted inside Adam’s subconscious. Now, more than ever, he was open to the idea of letting Valerian leave his side and grow up in a safer environment.

Venia still had one final card to play. That would fully convince Adam that Valerian would never be safe with him.

BAM!!

Voraxus obliterated the table with a punch.

The parchments scattered in the air, but he did not care. He did not wish to read the story further, for he knew now how it was going to unfold. He looked toward Venia, topaz eyes full of fury.

”Too far!” he growled. ”Sister, you have gone too far!”

Venia did not respond to her Brother’s sudden outburst of anger. She flicked a finger, and the dozens of parchments floated in the air and neatly landed in her hand.

”How could you!” Voraxus walked toward her, anger unabated. ”How could you do this to our youngest? You nearly killed him!”

Venia did not answer. She turned her head and looked at the sprawling metropolis through the window.

Voraxus had a sad look on his face. ”You have no words because even you know what you did was wrong…”

Silence was Venia’s response.

Voraxus’s lips parted. He wished to say many things. But in the end, he shook his head in disappointment and walked away.

As the door closed behind him, Venia let out a quiet sigh.

She turned her gaze toward the parchments in her hands. She turned to the page where Voraxus had stopped reading the story. At the bottom of that page, there were words that gave her pause. Words that unsettled her.

It read:

Adam advanced to the Mana Seed Rank.

The first thing he did was visit the Sun Temple and take revenge.

After dealing with the Antlered High Priest, he searched the temple for any valuables. He found clues to the history of the Blood Moon Secret Plane.

And he also found something else.

As fate would have it, Adam got his hands on a key.

It was no ordinary key.

It was the key that would grant him access to Myrrandor’s famed Emperor Trials!

And so, the Old Mistress watched Adam more closely than before…
