Greatest Legacy of the Magus Universe

The wind violently brushed against Adam’s face as he plummeted towards the ground.

In his mind, he couldn’t stop cursing the Joker. That damn clown! Is he trying to kill me?!!

The distance to the ground was at least a mile. If he didn’t act quickly, all that would remain of him would be broken bones and meat paste—no matter how sturdy his body was.

Before the laws of nature, there was no difference between a mortal and a Magus.

A Mana Vortex Magus did not have the ability to fly. That privilege was only reserved for Mana Core Magi and higher.

So in Adam’s situation, all he could do was slow down his descent and tank the rest of the fall damage with this robust physique.

There was no way he was going to leave it up to the Joker to save him in the nick of time.

As he continued to fall at great speeds, he hurriedly sacrificed the feather of the Rowin bird. Then, just as he was about to weave hand seals…

SPLASH!

The youth fell into one of the countless rivers floating through the skies! In his state of panic, he had completely forgotten about this strange phenomenon in the secret plane.

The currents of the river were strong. Very strong. Before Adam could stabilize himself, he was already swept away by the violent currents.

He was thrown from one river to another for several minutes, until finally he was expelled from the network of rivers in the sky.

Adam gasped for air as he flailed his arms around. He tried his best to stabilize his body mid-air. When he lowered his head to see how far the ground was from him, he was stunned.

He didn’t have much time!

The youth quickly sacrificed another fresh feather, cast hand seals, and finally cast a spell.

Rank 2 Spell: Feather Drop!

A brilliant magical circle lit up underneath the youth before dissipating. Adam now found his descent considerably slowed down.

However, this was still not enough. From the great height he was thrown, just this Feather Drop spell would not be enough to ensure his safety.

Moreover, he did not know just what kind of cruel tests the Joker would subject him to after he did manage to safely land on the ground.

He had to be cautious. Very cautious.

Because the Joker was the craziest person he had ever come across!

Adam’s eyes blazed with resolve, and he quickly weaved hand seals to cast yet another spell.

Rank 2 Spell: Gravity Repulsion!

Several invisible waves of energy radiated from underneath Adam as he continued to plummet from the sky.

With the addition of the second spell, combining with the first one, the youth now found his speed reduced even further.

This is doable, he thought as he breathed a sigh of relief.

BAM!

He finally managed to land on his feet. Despite casting two spells to slow his descent, his landing still managed to form a small crater on the ground.

Adam’s feet were lightly numb as a result, but apart from that, he was in a fine condition.

”Fafafa!” The sound of the Joker’s eccentric laughter tore through the air. ”Not bad! Not bad at all!”

Adam turned around and saw the madman lounging on a recliner chair in the middle of the grassy plain. He was eating purple grapes and seemed to be greatly enjoying the atmosphere.

The youth gritted his teeth and spat in exasperation, ”You! Are you crazy?!”

”Hmm?” The Joker turned towards him, gazing at him with an arched eyebrow. ”I thought you already knew that?”

Adam was at a loss for words. His lips opened and closed several times, yet no words came out of them.

Suddenly, the Joker spoke, his tone unusually solemn, ”Rune magic and ritual magic.”

Adam couldn’t help but frown a little. ”What about them?”

The Joker rose to his feet. With a snap of his fingers, he made the chair and grapes disappear.

He once again postured like a wisened old sage and hunched his back a little. He stroked his non-existent beard with a trembling hand and stated, ”A deep understanding in these two fields is imperative if you wish to get that thing on the moon started.”

Adam’s pupils constricted. ”What thing? How is rune magic and ritual magic important?”

The Joker went back to his usual demeanor and turned towards the youth. His lips formed a mocking smirk, and he asked, ”What thing? What are you talking about?”

Adam bit his lower lip as a vein started to throb on the side of his forehead. He truly wished he could give this man a beating.

The following moment, the Joker’s lips curled into a wide grin. ”If you wish to know more, then you better pay up, lad!”

Then, he conjured four metallic spheres out of nowhere and started to casually juggle them with his hands.

Adam’s eyes narrowed when he gazed at these spheres that were only a little smaller than a regular human’s head.

They had a strange aura around them, and there were intricate runes carved all over their surface. He couldn’t quite tell what they were.

”So what will it be?” Asked the Joker. ”Are you willing to pay for the knowledge?”

Adam took a deep breath and solemnly nodded. ”I—”

”It doesn’t matter what you think!” The Joker viciously interrupted him. ”Fafafa! Now, let’s see how you fare.”

He threw the four spheres far and wide. The moment they touched the ground, the runes on them started to light up one by one.

The ground around the spheres started to rumble. Then, chunks of earth broke free and flew towards the spheres, attaching themselves to their surfaces.

Under Adam’s incredulous gaze, the four spheres drew in the surrounding earth, mud, and rocks, gradually taking the shape of towering humanoid figures.

Within a few minutes, four humanoid creatures, each over thirty meters tall, stood before Adam, their emotionless, stone-carved eyes fixed on him.

Adam was astonished, to say the least. ”Earth golems!”

But this wasn’t what truly shocked him. It was their strength. Each of them was equivalent to a Rank 3 - Mana Vortex Magus!

Before the raven-haired youth even had time to reel in from his shock, the four towering golems had already pounced at him!
