Greatest Legacy of the Magus Universe

On the third floor of the House of Cards, Malcolm Morgan wielded his chakrams and continued to hack at the meaty tendrils that reached out to him from all sides.

Out of all the cultists trapped in this pyramid, he was faring the best.

He was also the only one still alive.

He had summoned his strongest Rank 2 undead creatures and had them protect him while he conserved his strength and mana.

Never in his wildest dreams had he ever expected such a summoning spell to exist. Not the House of Cards, no.

The Hunger of Malthor!

These undying creatures put his undead creatures to shame.

No matter how many times Malcom or his summons destroyed the meaty tendrils, they would always come back together, form new and grotesque appeandages and attack him all the same.

Malcolm was beginning to believe that these tendrils could never be destroyed.

Suddenly, the ground beneath his feet trembled and started to shift. He immediately grew vigilant and ordered his undead summons to stand closer to him.

Then, under his narrowed gaze, the ground on the third floor expanded, and towering pillars—also made of playing cards—rose from the ground, supporting the arched ceilings above.

At the far end of the floor, a small platform rose from the ground, and on it, a grand throne made of playing cards came into being.

Next, meaty tendrils surrounded the throne and, from the darkness in the backdrop, several pairs of ominous eyes emerged, blinking coldly.

Not only that, even several maws came into existence in the darkness behind the throne. They revealed their sharp fangs and their forked tongues.

On the throne sat a figure wearing a pointy hat.

When Malcolm’s gaze landed on this person, his expression darkened and he spat through gritted teeth, ”Constantine!”

Adam gazed at his enemy with a cold and indifferent look on his face. ”Do you have other Rank 3 summons?”

Malcolm’s eyes narrowed. But he didn’t reply. Instead, he chose to remain silent.

”I’m asking because I wish to try out something, and you…” Adam’s lips curled into a taunting smirk. ”I’m afraid you alone won’t be able to handle it.”

Malcolm gritted his teeth in rage. He hated being looked down on. He wanted to refute.

But seeing where he was, inside a grand hall made of playing cards and surrounded by darkness and unknown creatures of horror, he swallowed his words.

He took a deep breath, regaining his calm once again. ”I take it that Zora and Neer are dead?”

Adam silently nodded.

”You are strong, Constantine. Very strong!” Malcolm sincerely praised. ”I can now truly understand why the great master wants you.”

”You keep saying the same thing,” Adam stated coldly. ”Why is your cult leader interested in me? What does he want from me?”

Seeing the youth’s expression, Malcolm started to grin. ”If you let me go, I promise to tell you everything.”

”Do you truly think I’ll let you go?” Adam scoffed.

He rose to his feet and descended the stairs, calmly walking towards his opponent. ”Now, summon your strongest undead creatures. I know you’ve been wanting to. I can sense the mana fluctuations of two more Rank 3 artifacts from you.”

Adam then threw two broken skulls at Malcolm’s feet. These were the artifacts he took from the other cultists’ corpses.

These artifacts not only had Macabre Domain inscribed in them but also had Summon Undead. Furthermore, it even acted as storage to house said undead creatures!

Such powerful artifacts required a deep knowledge of rune magic and also the School of Necromancy and the School of Summoning.

Only a powerful Magi well versed in those would be able to create such artifacts.

Malcolm’s gaze landed on the crushed skull-shaped artifacts at his feet, his expression grave. To be able to destroy these artifacts meant that Adam possessed an artifact that was even more powerful.

The staff! Malcolm’s mind flashed with that thought.

He had already started to feel it, but after entering the House of Cards and coming face to face with the unknown horrors inside this pyramid, he knew for certain that he was no match for Adam.

Even if he had the aberrant knight with him right now, something told him that he would still not be able to best Adam.

Thus, he had made his decision.

Flee!

However, he didn’t display that intent to the raven-haired youth. Instead, his eyes blazed with fighting spirit and he retrieved two more skull-shaped artifacts from his inner robes.

Except, these skulls didn’t belong to humans. No, they were bigger and looked more ominous. Moreover, they also had two tusks protruding from their lower jaws.

”Constantine! Today, either you die or I die!” Malcolm roared angrily as placed the artifacts to the ground and expended more than half of his remaining mana into them.

A wave of ominous energy spread all throughout the floor as the two skulls seemingly came to life. They cracked open and from them, two towering creatues emerged.

Undead orcs!

To be more precise…

Rank 3 undead orcs!

Seeing the orcs radiate a strong magical energy, Adam couldn’t help but display a grin. ”Now, this is more like it.”

He then donned his black gauntlets and conjured the Staff of Calamity. He got into the fighting stance of the Astral Tyrant Manual.

Finally, he was going to incorporate the techniques of the Hand of Doom, using his staff.

Meanwhile, Malcolm took a step back and instructed the orcs at the top of his lungs, ”Kill him for me!!”

ROARR!!

The undead Rank 3 creatures let out bestial roars as they both conjured large battle axes. Then, with bloodthirsty eyes, they dashed towards Adam.

This was the final showdown!

Both the orcs radiated such bloodlust that it was almost unbearable to breathe. Within moments, they were standing right before Adam and the blades of their axes were inches away from hacking him into pieces.

SLASH!

But their weapons passed through Adam’s body seamlessly. Following that, the youth’s body dissipated into gray smoke.

Rank 3 Spell: True Illusion!

Malcolm’s eyes widened in abject horror and his mind kept screaming at him that his life was in immense danger.

His heart turned cold when suddenly, out of nowhere, he heard Adam’s cold words sounding from behind him.

”Staff of Doom…”

ONE HIT!!!
