Greatest Legacy of the Magus Universe

Chapter 1829 New World

Few things in the world were as beautiful as a ship on the horizon.

Especially to a man who had been stranded at sea for the past ninety days.

”Hey! HEY!!”

Standing at the edge of an islet, a haggard young man dressed in rags screamed at the top of his lungs. He waved his hands furiously at the distant silhouette.

”Over here! OVER HERE!!”

The man was little more than skin and bones. Months of hardships had left him gaunt and painfully thin. His dark hair hung past his shoulders in tangled, unkempt strands, while a small patch near his temple was bone-white.

His cheeks were sunken. Dark bags hung beneath his eyes. Yet despite his miserable appearance, those eyes still burned with determination as he desperately hailed the distant ship.

After constant shouting, long enough that his throat grew hoarse and he could no longer scream, the young man finally saw the distant ship turn toward him.

”Ha… haha… hahaha!”

He laughed and laughed and laughed.

”You see that, Val?” The young manʼs eyes turned red and moist. ”Finally… finally we can leave this place!”

Adam had arrived on Myrrandor under… less than pleasant circumstances.

That night, a raging storm swept across the seas. Adam tore through the void and landed somewhere in the middle of the ocean, with waves as large as mountains swallowing him from all sides.

Frightened and desperate, he swam and swam and swam.

Until finally, fortune smiled upon him, and he spotted land in the middle of the sea. It was an islet that rose abruptly from the water, its rocky shoreline dropping into deep blue depths only a few steps from the edge.

And that was the place Adam called home for the last three months.

Since then, his diet consisted of coconut water and sunlight. Occasionally, heʼd eat a fish or two if he got really lucky.

As for Valerian… the little guy was just as miserable. This was despite Adam sharing most of the food with him while surviving on barely any scraps himself.

After a certain point, the little guy began sleeping for long periods inside Adamʼs spirit sea and rarely came out.

Adam collapsed to his knees, but he continued waving wildly at the approaching ship, afraid it would pass him by.

Recalling the past three months, he couldnʼt help but sigh emotionally.

This was not what he had expected when he imagined arriving in the Greater Universe. He had envisioned many things, but never being dropped into the middle of a sea during a raging storm and ending up stranded on an island for months.

The first few weeks were hellish.

He had to take care of Valerian first and foremost. Any food he found went to the little guy before he even thought about filling his own stomach. Not that there was much food to go around.

Then there was the matter of gravity. Adam believed that Myrrandor was several times larger than Tron, which explained the sudden increase in gravity. It took him days to get used to it.

And the thing that frightened him the most…

He was unable to draw mana from the surroundings.

He could feel it. The mana in this world was exponentially higher than that of Tron. Yet he had tremendous difficulty drawing it into his core.

It was only as the days passed that he realized that his body had not yet acclimated to the magical environment of this world.

On Tron, he had been exposed to its mana from the moment he was born. But in this new world, his body treated the mana as a foreign substance and instinctively tried to reject it.

He first had to adapt to the environment. Only then could he draw in mana and finally begin practicing mindfulness once more.

Adam couldnʼt help but worry about his friends.

If he had ended up stranded on this remote islet for three months, what about the others?

The thought had crossed his mind several times during his time on this lonely piece of land.

Had they arrived safely? Had they been scattered across Myrrandor as he had? Or had some of them found themselves in even worse situations?

Once he gained an initial foothold in this world, he would begin looking for them.

For now, all he could do was hope that his fellow travelers were as stubborn and resilient as he remembered them to be.

The sound of waves crashing against the rocky shoreline of the tiny islet echoed in his ears as he continued to wave his hands, slow and weak.

His thoughts were scattered, much like the clouds drifting across the twilight sky, gradually revealing the moons of Myrrandor.

The faint, distant sound of chatter and laughter reached his ears, and his lips slowly curled into a happy, relieved smile.

But when his gaze landed on the source of the sound — the approaching ship — his smile froze.

The vessel was close enough for Adam to make out its details now.

Black sails billowed in the wind. A grinning skull adorned the jolly roger fluttering atop the mast. On the deck, rough-looking men drank from bottles, sang at the top of their lungs, and danced with all the grace of drunken pigs and bears.

Weapons hung from their belts. Scars marked their faces. And more than a few looked like they had committed every crime imaginable.

Adamʼs eye twitched.

”Dragonshit…”

The deep waters around the islet allowed the ship to draw surprisingly close.

And once it was close enough, one of the pirates vaulted over the railing. The man streaked through the air like a cannonball before landing directly before Adam with a loud thud.

The pirate was a burly man with dark skin and shoulders as broad as a door. A tangled black beard covered half his face, while a jagged scar ran from his forehead to his jaw. Gold rings adorned his ears, and a black bandana covered his forehead.

He studied Adam intently. A moment later, a grin slowly spread across his face, revealing his yellowed teeth. He looked every bit the ruthless sea rogue one would expect to find aboard a pirate ship.

The man took a deep sniff of the raven-haired youth and said with a menacing grin:

”A young item like yeʼll fetch a fine price at the market, wonʼt ye, laddie?”
