Chapter 1663 Dance of Thunder

The brilliant circle behind Edward flared with a resplendent light.

Boom!

A surge of blue lightning erupted from them. Wide, overwhelming, and utterly unstoppable. It didnʼt strike like a bolt. No. It surged like a vast tidal wave.

The front ranks of the undead horde were hit first and... vanished. Their rotting bodies were burned away in an instant, reduced to ash before they could even

react.

Nothing remained of them to even regenerate from. It was brutal and merciless.

But Edwardʼs spell didnʼt slow even the slightest. It fept pushing forward, swallowing the horde in its path, incinerating everything it touched.

For a brief moment, everything was bathed in a brilliant blue light.

And when the light faded, the land was unrecognizable. The ground had been torn apart, and a deep gouge carved straight through the battlefield where the attack had passed. The earth was split and overturned, and large chunks of soil were scattered around its path.

Lightning still crawled across the ground, faint arcs snapping and fading, refusing to fully die out.

As for the undead horde...

There were no bodies. Nothing remained of them except only drifting ash.

The undead army was gone.

No... not completely.

The two undead knights, who had separated from the main horde at the beginning of the charge, were unharmed by Edwardʼs violent spell.

Their dark, armored forms closed in on him from both sides, weapons ready and filled with cold, killing intent.

Edward watched everything unfold in a daze. His mind felt sluggish, but at the same time, it also felt extremely sharp.

His blue pupils darted from one undead knight to the other.

He saw their armored boots touch the ground, the soil below trembling slowly as a result. He saw one gripping its broadsword, and the other raising its mace. He saw their glowing, ominous green eyes through the gaps in their helms. He saw everything in its entirety.

And then, before long or perhaps, a long time later - the Rank 4 undead knights finally appeared beside him, ready to hack him to death.

Edward saw one swinging its broad sword and noticed the other bringing down its spiked mace.

The weapons were mere inches away from digging into his body and obliterating him.

But the only thought echoing in his mind was:

So slow...

Blue arcs of lightning flashed across his blood-stained body. Right as the weapons were about to touch him, he made his move.

The Storm King dodged with such frightening agility that it was nearly impossible for the naked eye to notice.

One moment, he was standing, feet firmly pressed to the ground. But in the next split-moment, his body twisted at an unnatural, horizontal angle in midair. The broadsword zoomed right above him. Edwardʼs face was a mask of dazed stupor and raw fascination as he glanced at the patches of rust on the blade, as the weapon zoomed right above his eyes. As for the spiked mace, it passed right underneath him, not even touching the fabric of his clothes.

He could feel the wind brush against his bruised torso, yet all he could think at the moment was how utterly, ridiculously slow these two seemingly mighty, unkillable creatures were.

The undead knights hadnʼt even finished their motions when Edward suddenly twisted once again in mid-air. Lightning erupted from his core and flowed seamlessly through his arms. Then, he pointed his fingers at the two knights and launched another spell.

Rank 4 Spell: Bolt!

A lance of compressed lightning formed in an instant and shot toward the two knights. The bolt of lightning struck them head-on. There was no resistance at all. It punched straight through their armored chests, tearing clean holes through metal and rotten flesh and bones alike.

But the force of the spell did not stop there. Their massive bodies were lifted off the ground and violently hurled backward, sent flying into the distance as the Bolt carried through them.

After all of that...

Edward finally landed on the ground.

He slowly straightened his back and took a deep breath. Finally, he was getting used to the world around him. No, to be more precise, he was finally getting used to how his transformation was affecting his perception of the world

around him.

The overload he felt in the beginning while battling Orion was finally fading. What had once felt painful and chaotic now started to make sense.

The constant flow of lightning through his body, the sharpened awareness, the stretched sense of time... it was no longer overwhelming.

It felt natural. He was beginning to feel everything. The movement of air, the shift in the mana, and the smallest movements of his enemies, every detail reached him clearly and without delay.

But more importantly, he could finally act on it!

Without hesitation, without thought. For the first time since he had...

awakened, he wasnʼt struggling to keep up with it.

His gaze locked onto the undead knight in front of him, who had only just come

to a halt from his previous attack.

The Storm King weaved a simple hand seal. Lightning coursed through his body and gathered at his feet, his ankle, his calves, and finally his hamstrings and

quadriceps.

Boom!

Lightning burst forward, and he was gone in an instant, leaving only a trail of blue sparks.

In the next split second, he had already appeared right above the undead knight wielding the broadsword. He had already finished weaving the hand seals for his next spell. His lips curled into a wide smile as he raised his right

hand in the air and....

Rank 4 Spell: Summon Lightning!

The clouds above rumbled. They drew in and then swelled again, as if breathing heavily for what came next. And the next moment, the heavens unleashed a

pillar of lightning.

Edward caught it.

He grabbed the bolt of lightning and hurled it straight at the undead knight.

BOOOM!

The strike landed, and there was nothing the undead creature could do about

it. He was instantly erased from this world. Nothing remained, not even faint

fragments.

Only a massive black crater was left in the wake of Edwardʼs attack, the ground scorched and hollowed out where the impact had hit.

He finally landed on the ground, standing straight and proud as lightning

joyfully streaked across his body.

In a dance of thunder, the Storm King had finally awakened!
