Greatest Legacy of the Magus Universe

Chapter 1805 First Spell

Before the fireballs completely drowned him, the lichʼs eyes turned cold and furious.

One explosion followed another in rapid succession, engulfing the battlefield in blazing fire and violent shockwaves. The dense fog in the vicinity was instantly torn apart as scorching heat swept across the ruined land.

And then… Boom!

A giant explosion erupted at the center of the battlefield, its deafening roar echoing across the entire region. Flames surged high into the air while shattered earth and burning debris blasted outward in every direction.

In the distance, the Heavenly Demon stood atop a thick vine. His grip around the Blades of Fulgrim tightened as he stared at the center of the explosion with a grim look on his face.

Not for a moment did he think that the lich was defeated. If it had been so easy, he would have already dealt with him. Instead, he prepared for the following battle sequence. His combat methods would depend on the spells that Adam cast.

But then, the flames and the surrounding space suddenly trembled…

[Frost Tide]

In the very next instant, an overwhelming wave of ice-cold energy swept through the battlefield. The temperature plummeted so rapidly that the air itself seemed to freeze.

The raging flames were instantly extinguished beneath layers of ice, while the nearby roots and vines froze over and shattered apart moments later. White frost rapidly spread across the scorched earth, swallowing the battlefield in bitter cold.

Suddenly, from the center of the ice explosion, several necrotic bolts of energy shot straight toward the Heavenly Demon.

[Frailty Beam]

The Heavenly Demonʼs eyes narrowed as he burst into motion, rapidly zigzagging through the maze of thick roots and vines covering the battlefield.

Necrotic beams tore through the air behind him, narrowly missing again and again. Wherever the attacks landed, the surrounding vines instantly withered and rotted away, turning black and crumbling into dead ash within seconds.

As the Heavenly Demon continued to evade the lichʼs long-range attacks, Adam, who was still concealed beneath invisibility and completely hidden from the lichʼs senses, silently crept toward where the lich stood.

The lingering fog in the air ensured the lich did not notice his movements.

However, just as his senses brushed against the lichʼs supposed location, his eyes narrowed. Because standing there was not the lich; instead, a Mana Vortex-level undead zombie stood at the center of the frost explosion, hurling necrotic beams across the battlefield.

As for the true location of the lich…

Adam suddenly felt a chill crawl down his spine. He quickly and effortlessly dealt with the zombie and screamed toward the Heavenly Demon:

”Watch out!!”

But it was too late…

The Heavenly Demon heard Adamʼs warning at the exact same moment his instincts screamed that his life was in immediate danger.

A bony hand engulfed in terrifying mana suddenly shot toward him from the front, rapidly enlarging in his vision.

It was too late to block. His own momentum carried him straight forward.

At the very last moment, he forcefully leaned to the side and…

Splat!

Hot blood sprayed through the air and dyed the ground in deep crimson. The lichʼs hand pierced the Heavenly Demonʼs chest and lung before emerging from the back.

But at the same time…

The Blades of Fulgrim slipped between the gaps of the lichʼs rib cage and lodged deep within his skeletal frame.

Blood spilled from the corner of the Heavenly Demonʼs lips as they curled into a vicious grin.

”You think you caught me? No…”

His grin widened, and his brown eyes blazed with madness.

”I caught you!”

In the next moment, the runes carved onto the shortswords flared to life. The blades erupted with searing hot flames, instantly engulfing the Cult Leaderʼs upper body in fire. The lich threw his head back and released a guttural roar of pain.

Yet even while burning, he viciously twisted his hand deeper into the Heavenly Demonʼs chest, tearing through his lung and causing even more blood to gush from the latterʼs mouth.

Right at that moment, the Heavenly Demonʼs eyes narrowed, and he rapidly retreated, further injuring himself in the process. Although he took the Blades of Fulgrim within him, the flames still continued to burn the lichʼs torso and head fiercely.

The Dark King appeared beside the Cult Leader like a phantom, his hands swirling in mana. Then he brought his palms together in a soundless clap. From the narrow gap of his palms, something shot forward at terrifying speed.

[Piercing Bolt]

A bolt of pure mana, compressed to an extreme degree, erupted forward and struck the lich directly in the head.

Boom!

The resulting shockwave violently tore through the surroundings, shredding the nearby ground and blasting apart the roots and vine. The lingering fog was swept away as the land cracked beneath the impact.

The lich himself was hurled violently into the distance like a cannonball, his burning body smashing through everything in his path.

Adam arrived before the miserable figure of the Heavenly Demon, who was sitting on a puddle of his own blood, and couldnʼt help but reveal an utterly grim expression.

”Howʼre you holding up?” he asked as he cast him a glance before turning his attention toward the lich in the distance.

The Heavenly Demon vomited a mouthful of blood before weakly saying, ”I need… some time… to heal.”

Adamʼs expression turned even more grim. He could sense the pure chaos happening inside the Heavenly Demonʼs body. There was necrotic energy festering around the gaping wound. If the man healed himself now and then forcefully enhanced his body right after, the consequences would be truly dire.

”Go!” the Heavenly Demon said solemnly. ”Just give me… five minutes.”

”Donʼt take too long,” said the Dark King as he faced the distant lich. ”Oh, and beware of any undead in the surroundings. The one attacking you earlier was a zombie.”

”Understood.”

In the distance, the flames that had once engulfed the lichʼs upper body had finally died down. Aside from the charred marks on his rib cage, the fire had done little real damage.

But Adamʼs final attack was a different matter entirely.

The Cult Leader slowly raised his blood-stained bony hand and traced his fingers across the massive crack running along the right side of his skull.

Then he heard footsteps approaching. He raised his head, the green flames in his sockets flickering intensely.

”Constantine,” he said coldly. ”Youʼre full of tricks…”

The Dark Kingʼs hands blurred as he rapidly formed seals. ”And you sure are full of yourself for someone whoʼs about to die… again.”

[True Illusion]

Dozens of identical figures suddenly emerged from Adamʼs body one after another, rapidly spreading across the battlefield and surrounding the lich in every direction. Some even floated in the air.

Each one looked completely real, carrying the same aura, presence, and killing intent as the real original. For a brief moment, it felt as though the battlefield had been flooded with countless Dark Kings.

Then nearly a hundred Adams raised their hands at the exact same time. Their fingers moved in perfect synchronization as they rapidly weaved the same hand seals and cast another spell.

It was the first spell that Adam had learned.

[Eldritch Beam]

In the next moment, nearly a hundred beams of erratic arcane energy erupted across the battlefield at the same time, all converging toward the lich from every direction.

Which one was real?

Which one was fake?

The Cult Leader would have a hard time figuring it out, as every Adam unleashed the same spell simultaneously, drowning him beneath a storm of magic.
