I AM A MAGE BUT WITH MILF SYSTEM

”I know,” Julian answered. ”I also know that staying silent has not changed what I feel. Every time we shared the circuit, every time you allowed me even a fraction of your mana and your presence, it only made the truth clearer. I am not asking you to accept it all at once. I am only telling you that the version of me you feared is not the only one that exists.”

Olivia’s fingers remained tight on the edges of her robe. She was acutely aware of how little the thin fabric truly concealed, and of how close he now stood. The confession had not erased the risk. If anything, it had made the moment heavier. A son who desired his mother out of lust was one kind of danger. But a son who claimed to love her was another kind entirely.

She glanced once more toward the study door. No sound came from the other side. The Duke remained occupied for now.

”This is not a conversation we can have here,” she whispered. ”Not with your father only a few steps away.”

Julian’s eyes moved over her again... slower this time, taking in the damp robe, the wet hair, and the sharp, conflicted look in her eyes.

”Then let me stay a little longer anyway.”

Olivia’s breath caught again. The request was tamer than their earlier meetings for dual cultivation, yet in some ways it felt more intimate.

She should have ordered him to leave. Every rule of her position, her marriage, and her role as his mother demanded it. Instead she remained where she stood, her eyes still locked on the young man who had just confessed a love for her.

The silence stretched.

Water continued to slip from the ends of her hair, tracing slow paths along her skin.

Olivia finally exhaled.

”You are going to ruin us both,” she said, so softly that the words were almost lost in the quiet room.

Julian’s smile returned, smaller and more careful than before.

”Perhaps,” he answered.

He did not reach for her yet. He simply remained there, towering over her by a small margin.

Olivia’s sharp eyes stayed on his face. Her breathing had not slowed. The conflict inside her had only grown more complicated. And for the first time since he had entered the chambers, she was no longer certain which version of him she feared more: the lustful young man of the old stories, or the one who now claimed to love her in a way no son was allowed to love his mother.

The private room held its silence.

And neither of them moved to break it.

**

Finally, as if the silence itself had become too heavy to bear, Olivia moved.

She reached out and took his hand.

”Follow me,” she said.

Her voice was quiet, but there was no hesitation in the words. Julian allowed her to lead him. She guided him away from the center of the sitting room and toward a heavy wooden door set into the far wall. When she opened it, a much larger space revealed itself.

The private chambers of the Duke and Duchess were divided into four distinct sections. The main bedroom occupied the largest portion. The Duke’s study lay behind the door he had already entered. The bathing area sat adjacent to that. And then there was the wardrobe.

It was far more than a simple closet. The chamber was enormous, nearly half the size of the main bedroom itself. Long rows of polished wooden cabinets lined both walls, rising from floor to ceiling.

Between them stood tall mirrors that caught the soft light and threw back clear reflections of anyone who entered. Dresses, robes, formal coats, and carefully folded linens filled the shelves and hung from long rods.

Olivia stepped inside first and waited until Julian had followed. Then she closed the door and turned the lock with a soft click.

Only then did she breathe out in relief.

Here, with a solid door between them and the rest of the chambers, the risk of being overheard dropped sharply. The mirrors reflected them both in long, repeating panels: Olivia in her damp robe, and Julian standing close enough that the difference in their heights was unmistakable.

For a moment neither of them spoke.

Olivia leaned her back lightly against one of the cabinet doors. The wood was cool through the thin fabric of her robe. She looked at him, then away, then back again as if still searching for the right place to begin.

”Kraven…” she said at last. Her voice was lower than before, stripped of the careful formality she usually wore. ”I do not know how to reply to you.”

She paused, clearly choosing each word with care.

”I am not just a woman. I am your mother. I am the Duchess of this house. I have a husband, and you have a father. So tell me… how am I supposed to respond to your confession?”

Julian could hear her tension in every syllable. Yet beneath the tension he sensed something else, something she had not fully hidden.

She was not rejecting him outright. The conflict in her voice was real, but it was the conflict of a woman weighing consequences rather than simply refusing the idea.

Julian stepped closer, though he did not touch her yet. The mirrors around them multiplied the image of the two of them standing between the cabinets.

”Mother,” he whispered.

The single word carried more weight here than it had in the open room. In the privacy of the wardrobe it sounded intimate, almost fragile.

”I do not know either,” he admitted. ”I have asked myself the same questions more times than I can count. I know what Father would do if he ever learned the full truth. I know what it would mean for you, for this house, for everything you have built. And still I cannot make the feeling disappear.”

Olivia’s eyes remained on his face.

”Then what are you asking of me?” she said. ”Because a confession without a path forward is only another burden.”

Julian held her gaze.
