Global Hearings: I Became Qin Shi Huang's Defender

Chapter 73 Riding and shooting, the power of the yellow shoulder crossbow!

Chapter 73 Riding and shooting, the power of the yellow shoulder crossbow!

”Shield Wall! Shield Wall!”

”quick--”

Abinus’ voice echoed throughout the battlefield.

In desperation, even his voice was instantly hoarse.

at the same time.

The Roman soldiers, who were still waiting for the big Han cavalry to meet the javelin with their bodies, also appeared momentarily in a daze.

At this moment, they also came back to their senses.

Those dense black spots in the sky are not mosquitoes.

It’s a sharp arrow that kills people!

Seeing such a surprising scene, these Roman soldiers couldn’t help being stunned.

If in normal times.

It is absolutely impossible for these Roman soldiers to make such low-level mistakes as being stunned and stupid on the battlefield.

but,

The scene in front of them completely refreshed their three views!

we can even say,
It subverted their perception of fighting!

Cavalry... aren’t they just for harassment?
How could it be possible to shoot arrows on horseback?

These Roman soldiers thought subconsciously.

But fortunately.

Abinus’ reminder brought many Roman soldiers back to their senses.

”First column, shield wall, hurry up!”

”Don’t be dazed, raise the shields in your hands!”

Many centurions urged loudly.

At the same time, the large shield in his hand was also erected first.

Roman soldiers, although the first row is the juvenile soldiers and young soldiers with the least combat experience and the most crude equipment.

but,
According to the Roman way of fighting, the centurion always charged at the forefront of the team, providing morale for the entire Roman legion.

Under the leadership of these centurions, the young soldiers quickly raised their large shields.

As for the young soldier, he held up the small round shield in his hand to fill the gap in the middle of the large shield.

however,
Albinus reminds, though timely.

But many of the Roman soldiers who saw this scene for the first time were still a step behind.

Only half of the Roman soldiers had time to raise their shields.

On the other half, the shield had just been raised halfway, and the arrows that rained down had already fallen.

tuk tuk-

Many arrows were covered by the raised shield.

However, nearly [-]% of the arrows fell directly into the Roman camp.

Puff puff……

”Ugh!”

”Eyes, my eyes.”

”My legs!”

……

In an instant.

Many soldiers who were shot by the arrows screamed.

”You damn chicks, the shield wall hasn’t been erected for so long!”

Albinus cursed at the young Roman soldiers who were too late to raise their shields at the front.

Those young soldiers, the young soldiers, were shocked by the unexpected scene before them, and after hearing Abinus’ scolding, they quickly cheered up.

The entire battlefield was eerily quiet.

Only the wailing of the wounded soldiers remained.

At the hearing, the proud smiles of Francis and the defenders from various countries in the European continent froze instantly.

The first fight.

The Roman Legion obviously suffered a lot.

This scene.

Whether it was Albinus, those Roman soldiers, or Francis and others, they were all unexpected.

Defenders from various countries in continental Europe couldn’t help being stunned when they saw that the Roman legion had suffered a huge hidden loss in their first match.

They were also quite shocked by the methods of the Han army.

Horseback riding?

At this time in the Roman Empire, there was no such thing as riding and archery.

Didn’t expect the Han army to come up and use this tactic hundreds of years later?

How did they master this kind of tactics that are not part of this era?

Night raids, that’s all.

It’s a brain problem after all.

But at that time, riding and archery was in its infancy for ancient Rome.

Not even germination!
Even cavalry and archers are auxiliary arms of the Roman infantry, not to mention cavalry and archery.

Francis subconsciously glanced at Lin Feng, opened his mouth, but did not say anything after all.

”Everyone, don’t be nervous!”

”This is just a tentative fight.”

”I believe that the Roman infantry has adapted to the tactics of the Han army in this tentative confrontation.”

Francis glanced at the other stunned defenders of continental Europe, and couldn’t help cheering for the Roman Empire.

Defenders from various countries in the European continent, who had been thinking about it before, finally regained their composure after hearing what Francis said.

After all, in the Roman Empire, the Great Shield opened the way.

The most fundamental reason why Rome suffered in the first match was because the Roman infantry had never seen this tactic.

After adapting.

There are huge shields as shelters, and the cavalry archers of the Han Dynasty carried limited arrows. Except for a few lucky arrows, they basically did not cause any damage to the solid Roman Empire.

thought here.

The defenders of these European countries have regained their confidence.

Lin Feng glanced at Francis who was constantly cheering up the others, smiled and did not speak.

It seems.

Although the lack of history of the Dragon Kingdom is the most eye-catching, the West is not far behind.

These Western historians don’t seem to know much about the power of riding and archery.

Lin Feng knew a little about western history and the horror of riding and shooting.

Before thermal weapons were invented.

For the West, riding and shooting is simply a nightmare!
More than 2000 years ago, Huo Qubing drove the Huns away, so that there was no royal court in Mobei.

then,

Under the oppression of the Han Dynasty, the Huns were forced to move westward.

Until 500 years later.

A leader named ”Attila” appeared in the Huns.

That is, later, the God’s Whip that made Westerners turn pale!
Attila took over control of the Huns after killing the Huns at Breda.

Extend your hand to the entire European continent.

From the Aral Sea in the east to Dachang in the west, they paid tribute to Attila on weekdays and sent troops to join the war in wartime.

On Earth, Attila is also known as one of the greatest conquerors, not only piercing through the Roman Empire directly, but also establishing the vast Hunnic Empire.

Attila once had a famous saying: ”The land trampled by my war horses will not grow!” He snatched the title of ”God’s Whip” from the Goths. This domineering title was originally given to the West by the theologian Augustine. It belonged to Alaric, the chief of the Goths, but was held by Attila.

The Hungarian army never let go of any opportunity to burn, kill, and loot. As long as the army passed by, there were ruins and bones. The once prosperous city was burned to ashes. A deserted city.

They are unreasonable, and their tactics have no rules to find. The infantry and heavy cavalry that the European continent was originally proud of could not win at all.

The Hungarian army is highly mobile, and the social organization is militarized. It can quickly concentrate on attacking the weak points of the enemy. The light cavalry is completely gone and never returned.

So that
Attila’s cruelty made people in continental Europe start to think about the significance of God’s creation of Attila. People in continental Europe believed in religion in the Middle Ages, and Attila was regarded as God’s punishment just like the Black Death and the flood.

The Hunnic invasion was seen as a punishment or trial imposed by God on the sinners of central France - forcing the unrepentant to abandon their adult desires and wrongdoings.

Many theologians turned pale when they talked about the Huns and Attila.

They firmly believed that Attila and the Huns were sent by God to punish them.

Even this idea quickly spread throughout Western Europe.

To know,
In ancient times, wars had two sides.

This happens only in absolute crushing wars.

To know.

When a person is extremely afraid of a certain person or a certain group.

You will worship him unreservedly, follow his instructions, think for him, and even fall in love with him.

This kind of psychology is called the Stockholm effect.

As for Attila and the Hungarian army, this was a conquest that conformed to the laws of history.

Attila, who was planned to be a miracle by those Western religions and burned, killed and looted in the European continent, was even named an envoy of God!

It is enough to prove how helpless the European continent was to the Hunnic Empire at that time, and the fear of the Huns directly triggered the Stockholm effect.

And this one.

The real reason for the collapse of the West is precisely because of the strong mobility of the Huns and their ability to ride and shoot with one hand.

After Attila’s death in 453 AD, his empire quickly disintegrated.

however,
The invaded West, completely unaware of the seriousness of the matter, continued to believe in infantry.

until later.

Another yellow-skinned conqueror appeared in the West, and it was only then that these Westerners who were superstitious about the infantry phalanx were completely awakened.

And the later one, also known as the greatest conqueror, also established a huge territory.

This person is Genghis Khan——

Borjijin Temujin!
Also because.

Attila, Genghis Khan, and their soldiers all had yellow skin.

Until now, there is a very scary legend in the West——

People with yellow skin will eventually destroy the whole world.

This legend, on earth, has even been passed down to this day!
It is enough to prove how much damage the two conquerors from the East did to the West.

And now.

The army of the Han Dynasty, facing the army of the Roman Empire, used the official tactics of the Huns!

And now.

Neither the infantry of the Roman Empire nor the defenders of the European continent were aware of the problem.

Lin Feng smiled without saying a word, and continued to look at the screen of the battlefield in another dimension.

on the screen.

The Roman legions had recovered from a brief disturbance.

The Roman phalanx also has substitutes.

It has not yet waited for Huo Qubing’s three major cavalrymen to conduct the second round of riding and shooting.

The wounded soldiers of the Roman legion had been carried down, and new soldiers took their place.

And this time.

Under Huo Qubing’s command, Hu Qi shot two cavalry teams, galloping forward again.

This time.

Before the two teams of cavalry bent their bows and set their arrows.

”Shield wall, shield wall!”

The centurions in Rome shouted scramblingly.

ka ka ka-

The solid large shield was erected high by the soldiers of the Roman Empire, and the gaps were filled with small round shields.

Hu Qi shot at the two teams of cavalry, bowed his bow and set his arrows, and threw another rain of arrows.

only,
This time, the Roman Legion had already set up the shield in advance.

Most of the arrows were blocked by the shield.

In the blink of an eye, many arrows were nailed to the originally smooth shield.

Only a dozen or so stream arrows passed through the gaps in the shield, causing limited casualties.

Seeing this scene, Abinus finally breathed a sigh of relief.

”I’d like to see if these yellow-skinned monkeys have more arrows than the shield of our Roman Empire.”

Abinus looked at the Han cavalry in the distance and sneered in his heart.

at the same time.

A smile appeared on the corner of Francis’ mouth.

”Gentlemen, as I expected.”

”The army of the Han Dynasty has nothing to do with the Roman phalanx.”

”The Roman shield has always been known for its hardness. The small bows and arrows of the cavalry of the Han Dynasty will never penetrate the Roman shield!”

Francis said to a group of European defenders.

Those defenders in Europe, with their hearts hanging in their throats, felt relieved like a stone falling to the ground.

As long as these arrows cannot penetrate the large shield of the Roman phalanx, the Roman legion can continue to approach and fight the Han army.

And this time.

Francis also glanced at Lin Feng.

”Lin, use a sentence from your Dragon Kingdom to describe it.”

”The current Han Dynasty army is helpless against the Roman phalanx, right?”

”The Roman phalanx is as hard as iron, and it is enough to prove that Caesar brought the Roman phalanx across the European continent...”

said here.

Francis took a deep breath,

”In the same period, the Roman phalanx is undefeated! Even if you go to the East, it’s the same!”

”Compared to the indestructible Roman phalanx, the army of the Han Dynasty can only engage in flashy and weird tactics.”

As soon as this word comes out.

Not just Francis, and those defenders of the Continent.

Even many defenders in other continents couldn’t help but agree in their hearts.

If the Han army really has a way.

When seeing the Roman legion erecting a large shield, they will inevitably change their tactics and carry out a more favorable combat method.

But now.

Seeing that the Roman legions put up a large shield, these Han troops still continued to use the old routine, and they were obviously at the end of their rope.

”Lin, stop pretending to be calm.”

”A real gentleman dares to admit shortcomings and failures.”

Seeing that Lin Feng ignored him again, Francis couldn’t help but feel ignored, and said with a light smile.

Hearing this, Lin Feng frowned and glanced at Francis.

”Don’t tell me you have Dunhuang Mogao Grottoes in Europe?”

Lin Feng didn’t want to talk to Francis at first, but Francis kept chattering, and Lin Feng couldn’t help but retorted.

”What do you mean?” Francis was taken aback by Lin Feng’s question.

”It means that there are so many murals.”

Lin Feng shook his head, turned his eyes away, and ignored Francis.

Francis was confused by what Lin Feng said, and he was a little confused.

However, a real-time barrage will appear on the fluorescent lights surrounding him.

After seeing the prompt on the bullet screen, Francis’ expression suddenly became extremely gloomy.

”When the Roman Empire is victorious, let’s see what else you have to say.”

Francis said something viciously, and he didn’t want to make fun of himself. He turned his head and looked at the big screen of the battlefield in another dimension.

at this time,

In the battlefield of different dimensions.

Huo Qubing still led three teams of cavalry, shuttling back and forth on the battlefield.

Every time when they reached more than two hundred steps away from the Roman phalanx, Hu Qi shot at the two cavalry, and they would draw their bows and set up arrows, sending a wave of arrows.

however,
Every time the rain of arrows appeared, the young soldiers in the Roman phalanx would erect their large shields.

It lasted for three rounds, and in the Roman legion, except for a few unlucky ones who were injured by the arrows, the others were unharmed.

Arrows were densely inserted into the originally clean shield, like hedgehogs.

The Roman general Albinus, and most of the defenders at the hearing, saw that the Han army was still like this, and they felt more certain in their hearts.

It seems that the Han army has nothing to do with the Roman Empire phalanx.

in the eyes of the crowd.

Huo Qubing continued to lead three teams of cavalry and launched the fourth cruise.

however,
This time, it was different from before.

In the past, Huo Qubing led the cavalry, and at a distance of about [-] steps from the Roman phalanx, he would bend his bow and set his arrows, and then turn the horse’s head.

However this time.

Huo Qubing led three teams of cavalry, but he didn’t turn around, and rushed straight towards the Roman Empire phalanx.

two hundred steps,
170 steps,

150 steps!

At a distance of about 150 steps, under Huo Qubing’s order.

Hu Qi shot at the two teams of cavalry, and then began to bend their bows and set arrows, ready to shoot.

Abinus laughed when he saw this scene.

The stupid army of the Han Dynasty, even if the distance is closer, so what?

The great shield of our Roman Empire is not something you can break if you say it!
Not just Albinus.

Even those Roman soldiers, seeing the Han army like this, couldn’t help feeling contemptuous in their hearts.

This group of Han troops want to repeat the old trick?

dream!

”Shield Wall!”

Under the orders of the major centurions, all the Roman soldiers erected their large shields again.

”Shhhhh-”

Clusters of arrows rained from the cavalry of the Han Dynasty like locusts, shooting towards the Roman phalanx.

however,
This time.

The cavalry led by Huo Qubing did not move away.

”Yellow shoulder crossbow, get ready!”

Suddenly, Huo Qubing yelled loudly.

The Tiger Benqi, who had already been ready to go, put the rhubarb crossbow in his hand on his shoulder.

Just when the boma was turning around, these tiger and cardinal riders had already obeyed Huo Qubing’s order, quietly pulled the big yellow crossbow away, and loaded the crossbow arrows.

now,

Raise your hand and you can shoot!
”Yellow shoulder crossbow, blast!”

Accompanied by Huo Qubing’s voice.

”Crunch!” ”Crunch!” ”Crunch!”...

The bow is like a thunderbolt!

The crackling sound of the crossbow trigger came suddenly.

The crossbow arrow, which was one size shorter than the feather arrow, was released in an instant.

Because the tiger rider had already loaded the crossbow arrow when returning to the horse.

The scale reference in Wangshan can be activated with just a moment of aiming.

It was only less than a second after Hu Qi and the two cavalry shot the feather arrows.

The yellow-shouldered crossbow in the rider’s hand was fully activated.

It’s just that it’s different from the feathered arrows thrown out.

The yellow-shouldered crossbows in the hands of the tiger riders all shot directly at the Roman infantry phalanx.

Driven by the bowstring, the arrows instantly turned into streaks of black light!

The Roman soldiers had already raised their shields above their heads to resist the rain of arrows falling from the sky.

He didn’t notice the crossbow arrows coming straight at him.
