Chapter 434 Anomaly

Li Guan said solemnly, “In the past few months, two cities in our Great Zhou Dynasty have suffered mysterious attacks. A million people died each time.”

“What? A million people?” Meng Chuan’s expression changed. Ever since he resolved the threat of a million demon monarchs, the entire human race felt that peace had arrived. The remaining demon monarchs—who were hiding in small grotto-heavens—could not stir up much trouble. Meng Chuan, King True Martial, King Thousand Wood, and the other powerful Regis Godfiends-were now thinking of dealing with the World Gap’s threat. Once accomplished, the human race would likely obtain final victory over the demons.

However, to their surprise, while Meng Chuan and company were in the World Gap, the Great Zhou Dynasty was attacked twice, and a million people ended up dying each time.

“Although the demons attacked the cities in the past, every city was guarded by Godfiends. It’s rare to have so many casualties in a single city,” said Meng Chuan. “Who’s the murderer? A demon sage?”

“The reason why it’s so strange is because of the bizarre means involved. Furthermore, we still don’t know who the murderer is,” said Li Guan. “The Godfiends guarding the city discovered a terrifying force in the city. It devoured all mortal living beings within a radius of dozens of kilometers. The flesh and blood of countless living beings turned into lifeblood and were devoured. Their sins were also devoured before it completely vanished.”

“Devouring lifeblood and sin? It’s very similar to my Demon Slayer. However, Demon Slayer only devours the lives it killed. Furthermore, it needs to be in close proximity.” Meng Chuan frowned. “It devoured all lives within dozens of kilometers? Did the Godfiends guarding the city manage to figure out the murderer’s identity?

“No.” Li Guan shook his head. “The first attack happened three months ago. A Guardian Divine Beast was guarding the city that was attacked. That Guardian Divine Beast has the strength of a Regis Godfiend. It pursued the mysterious murderer with all its might. However, the mysterious murderer vanished without it catching up.

“The second attack was on a city that three Marquis Godfiends guarded. The fastest among them saw a blurry figure densely shrouded in lifeblood and sin. There was no way to tell if it was a demon or human. The mysterious murderer also disappeared. The Marquis Godfiends couldn’t track it at all.

“Both attacks happened suddenly, and the culprit vanished in an equally sudden manner.” Li Guan frowned. “Furthermore, the culprit attacked only the cities in our Great Zhou Dynasty. Two World Island and Black Sand Grotto-Heaven were not attacked.”

Meng Chuan’s expression turned solemn. “It sounds like some evil cultivation formula,” said Meng Chuan with a frown.

In human history, there were some very evil cultivation formulas. When humans didn’t face external enemies, the internal strife was very intense. Some Godfiends treated mortals as nothing but poultry. Some even used evil cultivation methods. Similarly, Demon Slayer was an evil weapon. However, it became a powerful weapon in Meng Chuan’s hands.

After the demon invasion, the three major sects abandoned their past grudges and joined forces to fight the enemy. They clearly forbade internal strife!

Any fratricide and fatal harming of Godfiends was considered a serious crime once there was conclusive evidence on their misdeeds. Many ancient and evil formulas from the past had been sealed and were forbidden to be imparted. For example, cultivating the Sanguine Divine Body was too painful. Thus, people later created methods that enabled them easy progress, but it was evil. They used the lives of millions of people to build their foundation. The Godfiend bodies they cultivated were known as the Sanguine Fiend Body. There were many such evil formulas, but they were no longer in existence.

After 800 years…

The three large sects had been united for a long time as they defended against their common enemy. The human Godfiends supported each other, and there was no way to learn evil formulas. In the past 800 years, the Godfiends were the Godfiends with the best reputations in history. Generations of Godfiends fought for the human race.

Because of this fight for humanity and the sacrifices they made, this spirit was passed down generation after generation. It had already merged with every newly-born Godfiend’s bones.

“Humanity’s evil cultivation techniques are all sealed. It’s almost impossible for the outside world to have them,” said Li Guan.

“Even if there’s a small number of the techniques circulating, it’s impossible for one to absorb the lives of one million people at once. Even a Guardian Divine Beast couldn’t catch up to the culprit,” said Qin Wu.

“What do you need me to do?” asked Meng Chuan.

“Your speed is unparalleled in the world.” Li Guan looked at Meng Chuan. “As long as you can discover the murderer, you can track him and prevent him from escaping perfectly.” Meng Chuan nodded. With his capabilities, no expert in the world—including Creation Supremacies—could escape his pursuit.

“You can travel about 250 kilometers in three seconds.” Li Guan looked at Meng Chuan. “If you use that special temporal divine power, your speed will be ten times faster.”

Although Meng Chuan kept the secrets of Flowing Sand a secret, he still told the three Supremacies about it. “I can only maintain Flowing Sand for about 15 seconds. If I use it to the limit, it will burden my Essence Soul greatly,” said Meng Chuan.

“That mysterious murderer takes about nine seconds to devour one million people’s lives. After committing that large-scale massacre, that culprit quickly flees,” said Li Guan. “Therefore, you have to arrive within nine seconds. In the entire human world, only you – Meng Chuan-have a chance of doing so.”

“We need you to capture the murderer,” said Qin Wu.

Meng Chuan nodded slightly.

If he spared no expense and used the Bloodblade Disc, he could travel about 800 kilometers in a second while under Flowing Sand. This was thanks to his Infinite Saber Ar reaching the peak of the Dharma Domain realm. In just three seconds, he could travel about 2,500 kilometers.

“The mysterious murderer only attacked twice so far. There was about a month’s gap between each attack,” said Qin Wu. “We believe that if he cultivates a special technique, he will take action soon.”

“Meng Chuan, all you need to do is stay in a large city that is in the Great Zhou Dynasty’s center for the time being. Once he attacks any city in the Great Zhou Dynasty, with your speed, you can arrive there in nine seconds,” said Luo Tang. “Alright.” Meng Chuan nodded. “I’ll temporarily stay in Southwater City.”

Great Zhou Dynasty, Southwater City.

The city furthest away from Southwater City was Qiyu City-which was in the northwest of the Great Zhou Dynasty. Most cities in the Great Zhou Dynasty were within 6,000 kilometers of Southwater City.

Who is it? Meng Chuan looked at the dossier in his hand and frowned slightly. Is it a demon or a human Godfiend?

His time was precious. However, Li Guan, Qin Wu, and Luo Tang still requested Meng Chuan to stay in the human world temporarily so that he could resolve the threat.

Each attack caused over a million people to die. It was enough to make humanity panic. The Supremacies were extremely anxious.

I’ll just wait. Meng Chuan was also anxious. However, he knew that he would only be able to capture the culprit when the other party attacked.

on

Once the enemy attacked, it also meant that one million people would die. This made Meng Chuan’s killing intent intensify.

Days passed.

In the blink of an eye, Meng Chuan had returned to the human world for more than half a month.

At night, high in the sky of the Great Zhou Dynasty’s hinterland, Rain Peace City.

Whoosh.

The void distorted slightly as a figureshrouded in dark-red fog-appeared in the sky. He looked down at the massive city.

“There are more than ten million fresh lives here,” muttered the dark-red fog figure softly before descending. Although Godfiends guarded the prosperous Rain Peace City, nobody sensed the arrival of this terrifying existence.
