Immortality Through Array Formations

Chapter 2580: Chapter 47: Marching

In the following days, Mo Hua, accompanied by Yang Jiyong, became familiarized with the matters of Taoist Soldiers in combat, as well as some commonly used formations in military warfare.

Using the Yang family’s connections, Yang Jiyong applied for a separate set of Taoist Soldier attire and a Taoist Soldier Order for Mo Hua.

On the back of the Taoist Soldier Order, there were small characters inscribed:

Li State, Big Black Mountain State boundary, Mo Hua.

This was Mo Hua’s exclusive Taoist Soldier Order.

From then on, his name and birthplace were officially entered into the Taoist soldiers Court, making him a Taoist Soldier affiliated with the Taoist Court.

This was also yet another identity for Mo Hua, among many others.

Loose Cultivator of Tongxian City, Extern Cultivator of the Taoist Court, Junior Brother of Taixu Gate, Formation Leader at the Qian Learning State Boundary, Second Grade Array Master of Heaven Shu Pavilion, Crown Prince of Taixu Gate, Mr. Zhuang’s little disciple, Gui Tao’s people’s Junior Nephew...

Having many identities, however, is advantageous when traveling, as it allows one to navigate connections and gain benefits.

More identities also mean more pathways.

After this, the matter of suppressing the Great Wilderness rebellion underwent intense preparations.

Taoist Soldier deployments were frequent in the military camp, amidst a noisy atmosphere, hiding the impending storm’s tension and seriousness.

Mo Hua wasn’t worried about military warfare; he was only concerned about Big Tiger.

He didn’t know how Big Tiger fared during his absence from the Underground Demon Fighting Arena, whether he had suffered bullying and torture again.

Mo Hua wanted to rescue Big Tiger, but he was currently constrained by many factors and couldn’t act.

He could only wait for the right opportunity.

This opportunity, which Mo Hua considered and calculated for a long time, was estimated to come when the Taoist Court Army was dispatched,

when the Taoist Court Army set out to suppress the rebellious Barbarian Soldiers in the Great Wilderness.

As a sect directly affiliated under the Great Wilderness, a large number of cultivators from the Great Wilderness Sect would also be mobilized to assist in battle.

Thus, this would inevitably weaken the guarding forces of Great Desert City, and there would be fewer dependencies for Young Master Tuoba of the Underground Demon Fighting Arena.

Mo Hua planned to take this chance to destroy the Demon Fighting Arena and free Big Tiger, significantly increasing the success rate.

After rescuing Big Tiger, he would hide in the military camp, follow the Yang family’s Taoist Soldiers south to the Great Wilderness for rebellion suppression, find opportunities to earn some military merits, and gain a standing.

Most importantly, he aimed to leverage the Taoist Court’s power to infiltrate the Royal Court of the Great Wilderness.

From the Taoist inheritance of the Great Wilderness Royal Court, he hoped to seek clues left by the Great Witch to comprehend the Twelve Scripture Gluttonous Spirit Corpse Extremist Formation, thus forming his Lifebound Formation and attempting Core Formation.

According to Mo Hua’s earlier speculations, the inheritance of the Great Wilderness Royal Family and the Absolute Formation left by the Great Witch would inevitably be closely held secrets of the Great Wilderness.

These secrets would be stored in the Royal Court or even the forbidden grounds of the royal dynasty.

The rebellious forces of the Great Wilderness are incredibly strong.

If Mo Hua went solo without help from the Taoist soldiers Court, he wouldn’t be able to intrude into the Great Wilderness Royal Court’s forbidden grounds and steal these inheritances.

Only by utilizing the Taoist Court as a ”sword” to defeat the Great Wilderness Royal Court could Mo Hua fish in troubled waters.

Of course, before this, finding an opportunity to consume some evil spirits to nourish and replenish his Divine Sense would be ideal.

This plan was currently the most feasible option.

But the only problem was that he couldn’t take Big Tiger along.

After rescuing Big Tiger, he could only let it leave on its own.

After all, Big Tiger was a ”man-eating” monster beast, a fiercely ferocious Tiger Demon, and even a symbol of the Great Wilderness Royal Family, it definitely couldn’t be tolerated by the Taoist soldiers Court.

The Taoist soldiers Court will inevitably detain or even kill Big Tiger.

If Mo Hua fought in the military with a royal beast from the Great Wilderness, it would draw attention, suspicion, and doubt.

Thus, Big Tiger could only be set free.

Once Big Tiger was rescued, it would mean the day of parting with it.

Up until now, this was the only way he could handle it.

However, the Great Wilderness was a place of vast and sparse human population, suitable for monster beasts to inhabit; Big Tiger should have no issues surviving on its own.

”Hopefully...”

Mo Hua thought of this and let out a slight sigh.

...

Subsequent plans proceeded as usual.

Soon, the Taoist Soldiers would be dispatched, and before this, there would be a feast.

This feast was specially prepared by the Feathered Transformation Sect Leader of the Great Wilderness Sect to entertain various commanders of the Taoist soldiers Court.

This military feast wasn’t something that ordinary Taoist Soldiers could attend.

Yang Jishan and Yang Jiyong, both being mid-level commanders and members of the Yang Family, naturally were invited.

Mo Hua, however, was not qualified.

Despite being a Second Grade Array Master, he belonged to no family and had yet to establish any merits from battle, needing to fight a few wars to earn achievements and rise in rank.

This emphasized real combat and achievements.

This was also to prevent certain aristocratic families from recklessly inserting people into the Taoist soldiers Court to enjoy salaries without fighting, corroding the Taoist soldiers Court’s military strength.

Array Masters like Mo Hua would find quick promotions if they could fight on the battlefield.

But if they didn’t fight, they were no different from ordinary Taoist Soldier recruits.

Therefore, Mo Hua, with no official position, was originally not eligible to attend the military feast.

However, his unique identity as a guest of the Yang family allowed Yang Jishan to specially let him act as a ”follower.”

Thus, Mo Hua was qualified to visit the Great Wilderness Sect’s premises and join this military feast.

In the broad square in Great Desert City, lambs and cattle were slaughtered, wine was poured, and meat was roasted, filling the air with the aroma of meat and wine.

Ordinary Taoist Soldiers were also distributed with wine and meat, though not as good as that of the commanders.

Following behind Yang Jishan and Yang Jiyong, Mo Hua enjoyed his fill.

Eating meat, drinking wine, Mo Hua casually scanned his surroundings.

This was the Great Wilderness Sect’s branch base within Great Desert City.

The Great Wilderness Sect, as a direct affiliate under the Taoist Court, governed the Great Wilderness. This implied that the structure of the Great Wilderness Sect differed from sects within the Nine States.

The main mountain gate of the Great Wilderness Sect was located in the center of the Great Wilderness, within a small fifth-grade state realm.
