Chapter 89 PatrolChapter 89 Patrol

Xu Yang followed the crowd and proceeded normally.

The map of Area 773 appeared in his mind. The overall scope was about 500 meters in length and 1000 meters in width. The ’first floor’ they needed to patrol had two parts, upper and lower.

The upper part is the ’maintenance passage’ they are currently walking on. It is relatively narrow. A little further forward, you will reach the main passage. Various systems such as communications, running water, and gas power supply are buried in the main passage.

then down.

The lower part is the sewage treatment area, which will be much larger, with sewage treatment systems and sewage drainage pipes, etc.

Through this part, urban sewage and rainwater are collected, transported to a designated location for treatment, and then introduced into the ’underground river’ below, and finally flowed into the sea.

The part of the underground river is the ”second layer” of the sewer system. The reason why the church is difficult to wipe out is also related to the connection between the underground river system and the sea. Although all the parts connected to the sea are closely guarded, there will always be a slip through the net. Fish seep through and swim upstream into the city’s underground river.

Further down is the deeper underground space excavated by the religious order.

After a while.

Xu Yang followed Hou Lin and others into the main passage.

The main passage is not so dark and damp anymore. The underground lights are still bright and it is maintained by people all year round. However, wherever you look, you can vaguely see many rotting corpses, which are obviously from mutated creatures.

Xu Yang even saw that the blood had not dried up in some places. It was obvious that the battle had just passed not long ago.

”The believers of the religious order are all intelligent, and they generally don’t take the lead easily. They also know that coming up rashly is equivalent to courting death, so the ones who will come up are basically mutant creatures that are wandering around, and the threat is actually not high.”

Hou Lin spoke calmly.

Before entering, he used all kinds of deterrents to make everyone more vigilant. After entering, he explained in turn that the degree of danger was not that high, and then relieved the tension in everyone’s hearts.

Everyone continued to move forward and came to a downward passage. Hou Lin entered first, and then everyone went down one after another, and arrived at the sewage treatment area on the lower floor. This floor was much damper and more spacious, about four The two sides of the five-meter-wide channel are walkable roads, and the middle is a sewage channel about one or two meters deep. Currently, only a small amount of sewage flows.

Follow the sewer all the way to the end.

What appeared in front of it was a huge vertical tank with a diameter of about ten meters. The sewage flowing from all directions converged into this tank, flowed down with a splash, and merged into the huge sewage pool below.

The sewage pool was bubbling gurglingly and was a little black in color, like a strange deep pool.

”If you jump from here, you can go all the way downstream, pass the sewage treatment area, and enter the underground river. The mutated creatures in it will eat you up in a few minutes, and the suicide effect is good.”

Hou Lin told a bad joke.

Hu Rui and the others didn’t show any expressions, and Xu Yang just stared at the vertical sewage well that didn’t know how deep it was.

Just when Hou Lin was about to turn around and go back the same way, Xu Yang suddenly frowned slightly, vaguely aware of something, moved the hand holding Tang Dao slightly, and placed the sword horizontally in front of his body.

Whoa! ! !

Suddenly, a piece of turbid sewage exploded from the sewage well, accompanied by a black shadow leaping out of it, distorted and distorted like an octopus full of eyes, exuding an uncomfortable abyssal atmosphere, and falling directly towards the captain Hou Lin.

This is a third-level mutated creature.

Xu Yang’s movements stopped, he didn’t step forward to support him, and only looked at Hou Lin.

”Humph!”

Hou Lin snorted coldly, turned around suddenly, and punched forward. He was wearing metallic gloves on both hands, but he was one of the few fighters who practiced boxing. This punch seemed to make the air buzz. Ming, all the nearby water splashes froze in the air for a moment, and then exploded into finer water droplets and scattered in all directions.

boom! ! !
The fist hit the third-order mutated octopus, and with an earth-shattering hum, the body of the mutated octopus suddenly dented and swelled inward, and the countless strange eyeballs on the surface of its body suddenly became bloodshot, and finally exploded. open.

Blood and fragments were flying everywhere, and the broken tentacles were still twisting and swaying after falling to the ground.

Swish.

With a sweep of the sword in Hu Rui’s hand, the nearest tentacle that was constantly twisting was smashed into pieces, and at the same time said in a deep voice: ”Smash them all, otherwise it may recover.”

The underground area is different from the ground. Not only are the mutated creatures more tenacious in their vitality, but some abyssal aura may float up at any time. Even if they are cut into pieces, there is a certain possibility of recovery or resurrection into smaller individuals.

laugh.

Xu Yang also swung his knife silently, smashing a tentacle not far to his left.

Everyone else also started their hands one after another, and quickly crushed some parts that were still twisting into pieces, until all the pieces of meat were obviously inactive, and then Hu Rui stopped.

And Hou Lin also shook his fist, and said in a flat tone: ”Let’s go, continue to patrol other directions.”

Everyone stopped.

A mere third-level mutated creature, in front of a small team of professional-level warriors led by a middle-level professional, naturally poses no threat. No matter how strong its vitality is, it is of no use.

There are a total of three sewage wells of this kind in area 773. It is impossible for each place to be guarded by manpower, which is prone to accidents. After all, the task is not to garrison but to patrol, and the purpose is to clear up the monsters that come up.

Even if there are monsters bypassing everyone and fleeing to the ground, it’s nothing, because there are no civilians on the ground, and all the activities in the city are warriors, and one or two sporadic ones will die faster on the ground.

Zhao Lei followed Hou Lin first.

Others followed suit.

Only Xu Yang stopped in place, staring at the sewage pool with a diameter of about ten meters, narrowing his eyes slightly.

”4114, let’s go, don’t fall behind.”

Seeing that Xu Yang was still in a daze, Hu Rui called out.

Xu Yang shook his head slightly, and after averting his sight, he followed Hu Rui to catch up with Hou Lin in front.

After everyone left, the whole area quickly quieted down, only the clatter of sewage flowing into the sinking sewage pool, and some dirty bubbles that occasionally turned up.

But just when a bubble in the sewage pool swelled, a pale white skull slowly floated out of it, with eyes like will-o’-the-wisps exposed in the sunken eye sockets, staring at Xu Yang, Hu Rui and others as they left. direction.

”...”

After staring deeply for a moment, the skull quickly sank into the water again and disappeared.

……

After half a day.

on the ground.

Hou Lin, Zhao Lei, Xu Yang and others were sitting on the ground. There were many kinds of food in front of them. They were taken from nearby convenience stores. There was no need to pay. The use of city supplies was recorded, and they would be reviewed by the police afterwards. Reimbursed by the United Front Work Department.

”It’s easier than I expected.”

Zhao Lei gulped down a bottle of beer, and said with a smile: ”I thought I had to fight the whole way, but I only encountered two mutated creatures in the morning. Captain, what you said at the beginning was too exaggerated.”

Hou Lin shook his head: ”It’s just to remind you to be vigilant. It is true that the first-level patrols are not easy to encounter danger, but if they do encounter danger, it is often a big trouble!”

”Yeah, don’t take it lightly.”

Hu Rui also said in a deep voice: ”If we are unlucky and encounter a sudden large-scale attack, a team like ours may be overwhelmed in an instant and have no chance to escape back to the ground.”

Xu Yang didn’t participate in the discussion of the crowd, but just sat beside him and ate silently. After eating a portion of compressed biscuits, he ate a portion of compressed jerky, followed by canned fruit, chicken wings, goose legs, and duck necks...

Ok.

After picking up the duck neck and taking a look, Xu Yang paused and put it back again, picking up the bread next to it.

Everyone is a professional martial artist, and they eat a lot, especially Hou Lin, a middle-level professional, so Xu Yang’s eating and drinking can’t be seen as strange at all.

Zhao Lei and several other team members chatted and laughed while eating and drinking.

”Time is up.”

Hou Lin had been keeping an eye on the time. Seeing that the scheduled half-hour break had passed, he immediately interrupted everyone’s chat and stood up. He regained his solemn expression and said, ”Squad D411, continue patrolling.”

”Hey, I haven’t finished eating yet, forget it...”

Zhao Lei shook his head, threw the chicken leg directly into his mouth, chewed it up and swallowed it, and at the same time wiped off the oil on his hands and stood up.

After a round of patrolling and a round of practice, the tense and solemn atmosphere in the team dissipated a lot, and they followed Hou Lin into the underground area again, and they all relaxed a lot. Hu Rui, who works in the underground area, still maintained his vigilance as before and started patrolling again.
