The Last Paragon in the Apocalypse

Chapter 647 Returning Back to the Academy

”I will be leaving now, Mom. The twins are here, so they will keep you company while I am gone,” Klaus said to his mom, who was fixing his hair for the 13th time that week.

”I know. Just donʼt go doing anything crazy, like entering an unknown place for months ever again,” she said, but even she didnʼt believe what she was saying.

Of course, Klaus would do exactly what she told him not to do, and it would be dangerous regardless. But as a mother, she could only say what was on her heart.

”I promise I wonʼt do anything dangerous, Mom,” Klaus said.

A few minutes later, she was done, and Klaus went to give some things to some of the guards and maids. Considering what happened last time, they were all taking their cultivation seriously.

Though Klaus didnʼt blame them, they wanted to be much more powerful. So they are taking their cultivations seriously.

They didnʼt want that to happen again.

”Then, see you later, Mom.” After breaking the hug, Klaus spread his lightning wings and took to the skies.

When he was high enough, the lightning source diagram appeared, and the golden lightning burst out of it, filling the wings and turning them solid.

The lightning wings turned solid, making them much more durable.

Klaus instantly felt the energy pour into him, and like a shooting star, he sped forward. Before long, he was miles away, speeding toward the academy like a missile.

Back in the academy, in the outer section, only a handful of disciples could still be seen there. These were the few who still couldnʼt climb the Stairway to Heaven even after all these weeks.

But there were indeed only a handful of them.

Klaus was part of this handful, considering he was still an outer disciple and the last ranker at that. Over the past month, he hadnʼt been around, so his rank had moved from first to last.

Now, every disciple was in the inner section, where everything was buzzing. Those who wanted to challenge their friends and fellow disciples were doing so.

Others were attending lectures, while most cultivated in peace.

Somewhere in the inner section, Klausʼs friends and the women were gathered under a pavilion. They knew he would be coming today, so they wanted to go to the outer section to welcome him.

”I am going to challenge him when he arrives,” Danny, who had grown by leaps and bounds thanks to the illusion space Klaus created for them, said, clenching his fist.

”You will lose,” Daniel said teasingly.

”You donʼt know that. For all we know, Klaus wonʼt see it coming. I have already mastered the second form of the technique, and I now have soul weapons and even new skills. I wonʼt lose,” Danny said.

”Do you want to bet on that?” Daniel asked, and Danny was quick to accept the offer.

”Then, if you win, I will give my rank to you,” Daniel, who was now ranked 6th, offered, while Danny was ranked 7th. Danny was happy with that.

”If I lose, I will give you all my 10 million Celestial points,” Danny offered, causing his friends to smile at him with sympathy written all over their faces.

”I have a stake too. Can I join?” Asha said, causing the two brutes to look at her. Of course, they couldnʼt reject her placing stakes on it.

”If Danny is able to last 30 seconds against Klaus, I will give him 20 million Celestial points,” Asha declared. The ladies, hearing this offer, also decided to throw in their stakes.

”I bet 20 million too,” Lucy said.

”10 million...” Anna also placed her bet.

”20 million...”

”20 million...”

Just like that, the ladies placed their stakes, making Danny grin from ear to ear.

ʼIʼll just find a way to let Klaus know Iʼll be earning this much money. Though Iʼll lose, staying in the duel for 30 seconds will earn me millions. We can share it later thenʼ

Danny smiled evilly, already knowing his scheme had baited everyone and the hook had sunk deep into their throats.

The only thing left was to pull, and heʼd be swimming in millions of Celestial points.

If only he knew Klaus, who was flying toward the academy, had already received word about the bet and chose to simply smile.

At the peak of the mountain, the Overlords were gathered, with only Nari absent. She was still in seclusion in Klausʼs room in the outer section.

She would only come out when Klaus returned, so she didnʼt attend the meeting.

”The Moonborns will arrive in a weekʼs time. We have to show our best because, the last time I checked, they have more Ascendants than us. While we are the hosts, we cannot let them think they are superior to us. So, we have to be at our best.”

”We will, leader,” the Overlords said, making Queenie nod.

The Moonborns, according to Ohema, now had 14 Ascendants. Though only 7 were on the level of the Overlords, they still outnumbered them.

”I also want to let you all know that a few days after they arrive, we will be meeting Klaus to report on his discovery inside the dungeon.

”He also said he wanted to meet all Ascendants, so I guess he has something important to share. I tried to press him for some answers, but he said he would reveal it when we all meet.”

”Donʼt worry, Leader, we wouldnʼt treat him as a junior. The prowess he showed during the battle against the alliance said it all. Klaus is now someone Earth can count on, so he will receive our respect,” Overlord Dharma said.

They all wanted to get close to Klaus, considering they could now tell that he was someone worth befriending.

Like Overlord Dharma said, he is someone worthy of their respect. He had shown everyone he was capable, and for that, they all wanted to get close to him and get in his good graces.

Suddenly, they all turned in a certain direction. They could sense something speeding toward the academy.

Without even speaking, they all vanished and appeared a few kilometers away from the academy. The dean, who had sensed the presence approaching, also appeared there.

Suddenly, a figure bathed in golden lightning appeared many miles away and was closing in at a terrifying speed.

”Is that a person?” Overlord Isaac asked.

”I think that is Klaus,” Overlord Dharma, whose eyesight was rather vast, said. Truthfully, within the next few seconds, Klaus came to a halt just a few meters from them.

”Hello, yʼall. I never knew I would be welcomed back to the academy by Overlords. If I knew, I would have worn my Christmas clothes,” Klaus said with a smile.
