The Last Paragon in the Apocalypse

Chapter 575 Birth of the Obsidian Strings Demon Puppeteer (2)

Two minutes before the tribulation started, 4 km away from the tribulation ground, four Transcendent-level warriors waited in silence, observing the people they had come to hurt.

”Why are we waiting again? We are Transcendents, and those bitches are no match for us, so why are we waiting?” one of them, named Hundo, asked.

Until a few weeks ago, he had been one of the loyal retainers of the Duncan Legacy family, whose dream of becoming a Transcendent had seemed impossible then.

However, he was now a Transcendent, thanks to the mysterious figure. Experience tales with

”Are you forgetting or just as arrogant as your master? I mean, havenʼt you seen what that War Goddess can do? Before that bastard Klaus came, she was one of the most feared warriors on Earth.

We may be Transcendents, but we still pale in comparison to her,” Atticus, the Transcendent from the Mason Great Clan, said. He might be arrogant sometimes, but he had a good head on his shoulders.

While the others couldnʼt see reality, blinded by their newfound status as Transcendents, he could.

And he knew the War Goddess couldnʼt be underestimated despite her still at the Soverign stage.

Of course, the others sneered, but they couldnʼt act recklessly, considering this was an important mission that couldnʼt afford failure.

”So, whatʼs the plan?” the retainer from the Nabil Great Clan asked.

”The mission is to ensure at least one of them dies today, and it should be in a way that, when the video reaches Klaus, he will become angry and act recklessly. From where I stand, the only ones who can provoke such a reaction from him are his mother and the one about to face the tribulation.

They are also the ones we have the highest chance of killing. We will target his mother right after we attack the one undergoing the tribulation.

If we fail to kill the one undergoing the tribulation—since the moment we attack, the War Goddess will intervene—we can kill the mother, considering she will be left with just those two twins. So, for now, letʼs wait until she becomes a Saint or is on the verge of becoming one before we strike,” Atticus explained.

”Then what about that other Sovereign looking after their vehicle?” Kleen, the retainer from the Jiwon Great Clan, asked.

”He wonʼt be able to intervene; thereʼs a surprise waiting for him,” Hundo replied smugly.

They waited, and as the tribulation descended, they continued to watch. The first wave came, and they didnʼt move. The second followed, and they remained still.

Then the third, which was the final wave, struck, and they stayed put—mainly because of what happened next.

Darkness descended upon Nadia after her Mirror Umbrella was shattered, and she was bathed in lightning. Nobody, not even the four of them, could see through the dark veil or discern what was happening.

”What now?” Elwood, the retainer from the Nabil Great Clan, asked.

”We wait. Be sure to have the camera ready. We wouldnʼt want to deny Klaus Hanson a front-row seat to watching his friend and mother die in the most agonizing way possible.” Hundo responded.

”Also, remember, the moment we attack, we must leave, as the weapon is not something we can underestimate.”

Nadia was now covered in darkness, with no sign of what was happening to her. None of them had any luck seeing through the darkness.

”Even though we have a strong affinity with the darkness element, we canʼt see past even a single inch of the veil of darkness covering her,” Luna said, looking at the bizarre darkness surrounding Nadia.

”Strange, it seems to be getting absorbed. At first, it was just the darkness expanding, but now it seems to be getting sucked in... and itʼs moving quite fast,” Nuna, showing herself as more perceptive, noticed this.

They stood and continued to watch as the darkness slowly got absorbed until it was just a thin layer left. But even then, nobody was able to see past it.

However, after a few seconds, something changed.

A powerful explosion filled the area, and a formidable presence descended upon the tribulation ground. From within the presence, a dark silhouette of Nadia, now in a more regal form, emerged.

The dark silhouette stood tall behind Nadia, who was absorbing the last traces of darkness around her.

The figure raised her hand, and dark strings could be seen latching onto her fingers, appearing to merge with Nadia. When Nadia finally reappeared, she now had short, dark hair.

However, that was a minor change compared to the transformation in Nadia, who now looked entirely different from the person who had been standing moments earlier.

She looked the same but now even more beautiful. Her body had undergone some changes, and if Klaus were present, he would probably say something like, ”Thatʼs my long-eared girlfriend.”

Yes, Nadia had become an elf. For the first time on Earth, someone had awakened their bloodline without it being locked, unlike how Lucy and the others had their own locked right after they awakened it.

Nadia had awakened her Class, a Dark Lightning element with several powerful aspects, but the true significance lay in her bloodline awakening.

She now had short, dark hair—just the way Klaus liked it—but she was no longer human. She had become an Elvin saint. And, as anyone would expect of an elf, she had become incredibly beautiful.

She was now clad in dark cloth that covered perhaps only 70% of her body, making her very seductive.

However, while this was noticeable, her bloodline awakening changed everything. The dark figure behind her hovered in the air with a powerful presence for a few seconds before merging with Nadia.

The moment they merged, Nadia opened her eyes, and powerful energy again burst from her body. Then she sat down and began forming seals.

Klausʼs mom, who was watching her newly improved daughter-in-law, smiled and retrieved a gown from her space ring with an expression that said, ʼMy son is the only one allowed to see those sensitive parts of her body.ʼ

Miriam gave her a sidelong glance but couldnʼt agree more. Nadia had developed in all the right places, so she, as her sister, wouldnʼt allow any man to cast lustful looks at her.

She smirked and went back to watching Nadia. Ten minutes later, Nadia opened her eyes and stood up. She waved at the ladies, letting them know she was done.

The ladies waved back, but then Miriam moved at a terrifying speed.

”Nadia, get down!” she shouted, moving past Nadia with such speed that 400 meters separated them instantly.

Her sword appeared, and she swung it forward, cutting a ball in half. But then her body stiffened, and blood seeped from her mouth, eyes, ears, and nose.

The ball exploded, releasing a wave of soul energy that struck her at close range.

On Klausʼs momʼs side, the twins, who also sensed the attack, dragged her into the shadow realm just a split second before the attack landed on them.

Meanwhile, Kofi was stabbed in the chest by another Transcendent, who took a picture and vanished, just as they had with Miriam and Klausʼs mom.

The attack didnʼt go as planned, but the assailants had succeeded nonetheless.

Nadia stood frozen, lost at what had just happened and unsure of what to do.

Just like that, a war goddess fell, and Klausʼs trusted driver and friend was at deathʼs door, blood oozing from his mouth as he struggled to get up.

One could say the mission was a success...
