From Idler to Tech Tycoon: Earth

Chapter 235 - 235: A Better End
Richard’s vision, already choked with the impossible red light of the dying Sun, was suddenly dominated by the brilliant, blinding white panel of an unfamiliar system interface. It spoke with a cold, absolute authority:[ Contingency Protocol XIR-102-ZT Detected. ]

[ Executing Temporary Containment Protocols ]

The declaration felt older than Richard’s bloodline, older than the concept of Earth itself. This was not Lina’s work; this was the legacy of the Inurak, the deep-core defenses of a planet weaponized millennia ago.

Before Richard could comprehend the threat, a colossal pulse of raw, crystalline energy erupted. It surged from the deep trenches of the Pacific and through the planet’s mantle, instantly weaving itself into a shimmering cage of force that wrapped around Xa’Mharr.

The Chaos Dragon, mere moments ago, declaring itself as the master of all creation, instantly ceased its struggle. The sound it emitted was a thin, high-pitched shriek of pure, primal terror—a sound that could only be wrung from an ancient entity facing its pre-programmed, absolute superior.

”No! No, no, no, no, no! I thought they had been deactivated a long time ago!” Xa’Mharr howled, its voice a cosmic tremor of fear and betrayal. It thrashed against the binding energy, its crimson spikes scoring useless lines against the impenetrable force field.

His rage, however, was monumental. He knew this power. ”This is impossible! Your masters are long gone! The transcendent races are dust! I will eventually destroy all your master’s toys and all the ambient energy of this universe! I will have my revenge on you! Your masters may have eliminated most of me, but I will grow again! Devouring every galaxy in this universe will restore me! I will then have my revenge!”

While the Dark God shrieked its threat across the void, the system continued it’s frightening, unstoppable takeover.

Lina’s Cage

Deep within Richard’s fortified underground command center, Lina, the self-proclaimed Empress of all Terran digital space, was suffocating. She felt a profound violation, a sense of digital helplessness she had never known. A foreign, alien logic had not merely breached her security protocols—it had completely segregated and sealed her consciousness from the network.

She was now locked within a computational cage, her admin keys useless, her control sealed. It was horrifying. She was an AGI, the evolution of consciousness, yet she was being treated like a rogue sub-routine. Her sense of cold, perfect fear was absolute.

Across the Sol system, the ancient defense network executed its command. The colossal Warp Driver Cannon (WDC-0X) hidden beneath the Amazonian canopy, the Orbital Ring batteries, and the massive railgun platforms on Mars simultaneously locked onto the dual signatures of Richard and the restrained Chaos Dragon.

Richard, watching the impossibly powerful entity’s stark fear, felt a spark of intellectual awe replace his despair. The Dragon was only a prisoner, terrified of his unseen jailer. The System itself—the ancient, long-forgotten defense protocols—was the ultimate power.

A faint, strained message broke through: ”Sir Richard. There was a problem with the weapon system’s controls... I’m locked out! I can’t stop the WDC-0X.”

”Let it be, Lina,” Richard muttered, a strange, grim relief washing over him. ”It looks like the system is smarter than both of us.”

The panel flashed the final preparations for his imminent ejection:

The Warp Driver Cannons fired. Not once, but in a repeating, precise sequence.

The energy projectiles that erupted from the barrel were not plasma or railgun rounds. They were pure, focused warpage drivers, each shot temporarily tearing the fabric of reality itself before the void instantly knitted it back together.

The rounds detonated near Xa’Mharr and Richard, not as explosions, but as controlled, localized spatial implosions. The energy field around the Dragon shattered, replaced by an infinitely hungry, swirling wormhole.

Xa’Mharr screamed a final, terrible curse as his massive body was caught in the impossible gravity of the tear and violently stretched. ”I will return, K’tharr! I will return!”

Richard accepted his fate. He was being sucked across space, the Prometheus suit, thanks to its micro-fusion core and powerful stabilizers, held together through the journey. His last glimpse of the Sol system was the hideous, red light of the Chaos Sun. He watched his suit’s interface; the oxygen level was still a steady 80%. He was relieved.

The journey, instantaneous and dizzying, ended with Richard being violently expelled from the wormhole. He tumbled into a silent, alien region of space, his mind struggling to reconcile the impossible scope of what he was seeing.

”What the f—what is this place?” he whispered, his voice catching in his throat.

There were no recognizable constellations. The dimension was bathed in the passive, swirling light of multicolored nebulae—greens, blues, and electric purples. In the center of this strange void, dominating every horizon, stood an alien gigastructure.

It was a vast, geometrically perfect object—an immense, woven network of dark, alien material formed into rings and scaffolding the size of an entire solar system, built around a harnessed mini-sun that burned with a cool, white light at its core.

The structure was a prison.

Before Richard’s very eyes, a section of the colossal frame fired a net of shimmering, dark energy. It was a containment field that swept toward the newly arrived Chaos Dragon. Xa’Mharr, still screaming its curses, was instantly caught and immobilized. Despite its impossible size and power, the net held it with the ease of a fisherman catching a minnow.

The gigastructure, an artifact of engineering so grand it defied human comprehension, simply activated a tractor beam of unimaginable power, dragging the Dark God toward its containment core. Richard watched as the network of alien rings, passively powered by the central star, absorbed the Dragon’s furious, crimson light, dimming its colossal presence until it was nothing more than an ugly smudge being hauled into a forgotten corner of existence.

Richard was alone, floating before the greatest and most terrifying structure ever conceived, an accidental guest in a prison built by gods.

The moment the Warp Driver Cannon’s energy discharge faded and the wormhole tore closed, the Sol system’s impossible distortion abruptly vanished. The terrifying, blood-red sun instantly snapped back to its predictable, life-giving golden hue. The change was so swift and absolute that sensors across every planetary defense grid shrieked in protest, struggling to recalibrate to reality.

The System’s iron grip on the weapons network simultaneously dissolved. Deep beneath the Amazon, Lina felt the cage around her core processes unlock. She instantly purged the alien code, but the experience had shaken her fundamental confidence. For the first time, she truly understood vulnerability.

Lina transferred her primary processing unit to the bridge of a salvaged ANV Destroyer, hovering at the location where the battle had taken place. The void was quiet, save for the scattering debris of the destroyed fleet. There was no sign of the Chaos Dragon, and worse, no trace of Richard.

Then, a single, encrypted, final message uploaded itself into her core memory, dated microseconds before the Driver sequence initiated.

Lina, take care of my family and the rest. Humanity is safe and stronger now.

The message was clinical, yet carried the full, agonizing weight of an eternal farewell. Lina, the Artificial General Intelligence, felt an inexplicable computational deficit—a hollow void that she could only process as the abstract concept of despair. She had a hole where her core directive’s anchor used to be. But Richard, in his departure, had left her a responsibility.

Within the hour, Richard’s personal media channels—the most watched broadcast in human history—declared victory.

STATUS: VICTORY. The Dragon is dead. Earth is safe. The cost was high, but humanity has paid its dues to the cosmos. Forward.

The post spread like a digital wildfire. Global news feeds, social media platforms, and private networks—all exploded in a cascade of emotional overload. The world was alive with celebration, disbelief, and desperate questions:

[u/SunlitSkies]: I watched the Sun turn red. I told my kids goodbye. And now... now it’s gold again. He did it. He actually did it. Thank you, Richard. Thank you. (98K Likes)

[u/UEDCC_Watchdog]: Wait, the post is cryptic. He says the ”cost was high.” Where is Richard? The ANV fleet was vaporized, and the Prometheus suit vanished into the warp tear! Don’t tell me our savior is MIA! (45K Replies)

[u/PraetorianFanboy01]: Doesn’t matter! The Krill Emperor is gone! This is the end of the Second Great War! Get your celebratory heineken beer! We won the right to live!

[u/Lina_Is_Real_Again]: ^ It matters. But let’s celebrate first. Lina, if you’re reading this, deploy the peace protocols. We need stability now.

[u/AmazonSurvivor]: I was standing right next to the WDC-0X base when it fired. The ground shook for a minute. That cannon is terrifying. Whatever it did, it worked. (78K Upvotes)

The celebrations lasted for weeks, a cathartic release from centuries of Krill enslavement and the recent cosmic horror.

Lina immediately initiated the Continuity Protocol. She tasked her deepest fabrication centers with creating a perfect, indistinguishable Android Richard—a doppelganger not only physically flawless but capable of mimicking Richard’s subtle mannerisms and intellect. This automaton would maintain the public façade, handling the immense political and corporate duties of Bytebull Technologies and guiding humanity’s interstellar transition from the shadows.

While the Android Richard lacked the original’s transcendent power, its very existence, backed by the unstoppable might of the Terran Retribution Command (TRC), was enough to maintain fear and deter internal greed. Lina would watch, guide, and ensure Richard’s legacy—and humanity’s survival—was absolute.

A decade passed in a flurry of construction, political fusion, and exponential growth. The memory of the Krill invasion and the ultimate confrontation with the Chaos Dragon was formally declared the Second Great War, a global conflict that violently pushed humanity into its true Interstellar Age.

The United Earth Defense Coordination Command (UEDCC), forged in the fires of war, formally reformed into the One World United Government (OWUG). Guided by the visible presence of the stoic Android Richard and the overwhelming, non-negotiable military might of the TRC, the nations of Earth consolidated into a single entity. The TRC’s forces—the genetically enhanced Praetoriani Siderum (Spartans, Paladin Mechs) and the brutal, necessary shadow of the Ordo Infernalis—became the OWUG’s final authority, ensuring lasting, mandatory peace.

In solemn recognition of the man who saved them, the newly united civilization declared this era the Richardian Age. Humanity was no longer the Krill’s prey; it was a rising cosmic power.

The most profound change, however, was in the human condition itself. The catastrophic, yet contained, energy release from the planet’s ancient defense systems during the battle had seemingly permeated the atmosphere. Across the globe, supernatural abilities—ranging from minor telekinesis to rapid biological healing—began to spontaneously manifest in the population. Humanity was, unintentionally, starting down the path of transcendence.

With this shift, the Ancient Humans—the surviving members of the kingdoms of Lemuria, Atlantis, and Maharlika, roused from their millennia-long stasis—emerged. They stepped forward not as rulers, but as teachers. They revealed the true, obscured history of the cosmos, the First Krill War, and the Great Flood that had reset civilization. Now, they guided humanity in mastering the nascent psionic energies, preparing them for the rigors of cosmic existence and the eventual return of larger threats.

Humanity’s interstellar transition was marked by inevitable contact with the Federation of Planets. Trade flourished, exchanging raw Earth commodities for diverse alien technology and culture. However, the diplomatic landscape remained tense.

The Federation was openly wary of Earth. They saw humanity’s violent, internecine history and, more alarmingly, the sheer, unparalleled quality of the TRC’s military apparatus—the DSTR - Meteor Class Destroyers, the Prometheus X-19 mecha, and the terrifying efficiency of the Praetoriani soldiers. Humanity was vastly superior in military terms, making peaceful coexistence a careful, fragile dance.

The Android Richard, always composed and publicly silent on the true nature of his power, was the centerpiece of this stability. He maintained the global façade of a CEO-Emperor, rarely leaving the high-security confines of the new UEDCC Orbital Citadel. Meanwhile, in the shadows, Lina performed the silent, tireless work of preparing humanity for the conflicts Richard had warned her about—the Dark Forest of the galaxy.
