From Idler to Tech Tycoon: Earth

Chapter 192: Round 2
The air in the central command chamber of the Krill lunar headquarters was thick with a tension that even the efficient atmospheric processors struggled to dissipate. Holographic projections of Earth and its surrounding orbital zones flickered erratically, painting a grim tableau of their recent, humiliating defeat. Most harvest leaders, admirals, and generals of the Krill forces assigned to Earth were gathered, their scales duller than usual, their posture tense, a collective wound of pride still festering.

Chancellor Shuha’dar, surveyed the grim faces before him. His own expression was a mask of controlled frustration, his eyes scanning the room, lingering on the glaring absences. Several command stations, usually bustling with activity, stood empty, their consoles dark.

”Report,” Shuha’dar’s voice was a low, gravelly rumble that cut through the agitated murmurs. ”Where are the Harvest Leaders for Switzerland, Russia, USA, China, Canada, Brazil, and the other South American zones? Krill Khian, Krul’kahn, Shen, Kai... they are nowhere to be seen.”

A younger Krill officer, his scales a nervous pale green, stepped forward, stammering slightly. ”Chancellor, repeated attempts to establish contact have failed. Their last known positions were within their designated zones during the human counter-offensive. We... we assume they are either deceased or have gone AWOL.”

Murmurs of discontent rippled through the chamber, louder this time. Most of the present harvest leaders were safely resting in their own quarters, having been assigned to manage post-conquest transfers, not direct combat. Their assigned countries or zones were supposed to be secured, their human harvests ready for processing. The disappearance of such high-ranking, highly reputed harvest leaders implied not just failure, but potential treason and rebellion – a severe blow to the Krill command’s morale and trust, a crack in their rigid hierarchy.

Shuha’dar raised a claw, silencing the murmurs. His voice gained authority, cutting through the lingering tension. ”Their disappearance matters not. Their fate is irrelevant to our true objective.”

He paused, letting his words sink in, then gestured to the holographic Earth, now a vibrant blue and green jewel, seemingly mocking their failures. ”We are not here for a glorious conquest. The armies and fleets assigned to Earth were few enough because we, and the Imperial Council, thought humans were still too primitive. We thought a few battalions of Krill Vanguards and squadrons of drone swarms, coupled with our control over their governments and economies, would be sufficient. We underestimated them. Terribly.”

A stunned silence fell over the chamber. This was not the usual rhetoric of Imperial might. Shuha’dar’s voice dropped to a conspiratorial tone, barely above a whisper, yet it resonated through the chamber with chilling clarity. ”Our objective was to gather as many humans as possible and fly off to another star system, far away from our Emperor’s avaricious and gluttonous craze that is coming to Earth fast. This was a way for our species to grow human settlements elsewhere, to ensure our survival and wait for the population to grow, away from his insatiable demand.”

The implication hung heavy in the air: they were not just invading, but fleeing the Emperor’s wrath, using Earth as a desperate last resort for sustenance, a temporary larder before a desperate exodus. The very foundation of their mission, as understood by most present, shattered.

”Requesting reinforcements from the Imperial Capital is possible,” Shuha’dar continued, his voice grim, ”but it would take the main force to arrive in five years. By then, it would be too late. For us.” The fear of the Emperor, a silent, ever-present dread, now manifested as a ticking clock, driving their desperate gambit.

Admiral Khizar, still bitter from his fleet’s retreat, stepped forward, his scales bristling. He glared at General Z’gor, a ground forces commander whose unit had seen heavy losses. ”Chancellor, with all due respect, our approach to ban orbital indiscriminate bombardments cost us! We were only a few, and our ships were picked off like insects because we couldn’t level their defenses from orbit!”

General Z’gor, a hulking Krill with battle-scarred scales, countered, defensive. ”And if we had, Admiral, we would have incinerated our primary resource! The Harvest Leaders would have mutinied! Our objective was to collect, not destroy!”

The argument escalated, voices rising, highlighting the fundamental conflict between the Krill’s ”harvesting” objective and traditional warfare tactics. Their unique dependency on human blood, the very reason for this invasion, forced them into a tactical dilemma that humanity, with its unexpected technological leap, had exploited with devastating effectiveness. The holographic map, showing areas of high human population, seemed to mock their strategic blunders.

Shuha’dar raised a claw, silencing the arguments with a sharp, decisive gesture. ”Enough. We need solutions. General Z’gor, you mentioned human psionic resistance. Is there none?”

General Z’gor’s multi-faceted eyes flickered with a rare spark of hope. ”Chancellor, our initial scans indicated minimal, almost negligible, natural psionic resistance among humans. I suggest we deploy the Vorloks army division.”

A low, excited murmur rippled through the table. Shuha’dar’s gaze sharpened as he viewed the holographic profile of a Vorlok, which materialized above the central console.

Holographic Profile: VORLOK ???? Designation: Vorlok Submissive-Psi Warform (Domesticated Quadruped) Krill Breeding Purpose: To serve as bio-faithful guardians, suppressors, and neural disruptors for Krill warrior-priests and dueling clans.

???? GENETIC IMPRINTING & LOYALTY STRUCTURE

Vorloks are not wild or purely hostile — they’re bio-coded from birth to imprint on Krill as maternal figures.

Their first exposure after gestation is to a Krill handler or priest, whom they treat as: Family Alpha, Protective Mother, Mental Anchor.

Their psionic brain stem is attuned to Krill pheromones, vocal harmonics, and ritual movements.

”When a Krill walks, the Vorlok follows. When a Krill bleeds, the Vorlok screams.”

???? BEHAVIORAL NOTES: DOG-LIKE LOYALTY WARPED THROUGH PSIONIC HORROR

Obedience: Instantly obeys Krill commands — verbal or telepathic.

Guard Instinct: Circles Krill handlers, lying in front of them like lions before battle.

Pain Response: When a Krill is killed, nearby Vorloks emit a hunting howl and enter a rage-state.

Reward Mechanism: Krill will scratch behind their cranial ridges, a sign of affection — the Vorloks vibrate softly in return (like growling purrs).

Mourning: If a bonded Krill dies, Vorloks may starve themselves, disembowel humans nearby, or lie beside the corpse for hours.

???? BATTLEFIELD DEPLOYMENT

Released from containment tanks, they immediately sniff out psychic resistance or officer ranks.

Krill war-priests often ride them into battle or kneel beside them in dueling pits.

After combat, Vorloks lick the blood from their Krill master’s claws.

They are never abandoned. If too injured to fight, a Krill will euthanize its Vorlok personally — a sacred gesture of bond closure.

”Their psionic howl can paralyze, disorient, even induce madness in unshielded minds,” General Z’gor declared, his voice filled with renewed confidence. ”They will break human formations from within.” The chamber, moments ago filled with despair, now hummed with intrigue.

Another general, General V’kor, stepped forward, his gaze fixed on Shuha’dar. ”Chancellor, we also have the Grak’Toruun. Their sheer physical might will break their lines where our infantry cannot.”

Shuha’dar nodded, and the holographic profile shifted, displaying the terrifying form of a ”Dreadmaw.”

Holographic Profile: Dreadmaws

(”Krill Name: Grak’Toruun – ”Fleshbreaker that Obeys”)

???? BIO-PROFILE

Height: 6–7 meters at the shoulder (20–23 ft)

Length: 13–16 meters from snout to tail

Mass: ~35 tons of dense muscle, scale, and reactive bone armor

Locomotion: Bipedal gait with stabilizing forelimb talons; hybrid between a strider and a siege engine

Purpose: War-mount, shock charge beast, living artillery platform for Krill lancers and priest-commanders

???? GENETIC ORIGINS

Genetically spliced from extinct predatory bioforms harvested from Krill conquest worlds and combined with Krill biological signatures for imprinting and hormonal obedience.

Engineered for: Stability under gravity shifts, Tolerance to Krill psi-howl commands, Rage-induced adrenal override when master is wounded.

”A Dreadmaw’s heart rate triples when its rider is harmed. That’s not rage. That’s design.”

???? ANATOMICAL FEATURES

Massive armored skull-crest used for charging siege lines and snapping drop-vehicles.

Dual-jaw maw: outer crushing fangs, inner retractable scissor-teeth for anti-armor mauling.

Krill-mounted command harness includes: Psionic bracer plug-ins, Vocal glyph anchors for control, Living stirrups that bond to Krill armor.

Tail contains bio-magnetic shock glands, which can release pulse tremors to destabilize infantry or crush bunkers.

???? BEHAVIORAL PROFILE

Obedience: Imprinted to a specific Krill bloodline. Refuses any non-Krill rider.

Territory Marking: Roars vibrate at low infrasonic frequencies — terrifies both animals and tech AIs.

Battle Mode: Enters ”Bloodhorn State” when provoked — charging with blind fury and environmental disregard.

Social Structure: Raised in small herd-pens beneath Krill hive-citadels. Calmed only by scent of bonded Krill matriarchs.

???? DEPLOYMENT IN BATTLE

Used to: Smash wall emplacements, and railgun platforms, Carry dual-wield Krill berserker lancers, Terrify and scatter organized infantry lines.

Dropped via orbital ”breakpods”: living drop-pods with impact cushioning and tissue-reinforcement gel.

Once on the field, riders trigger Warhowl Protocol — the Dreadmaw bellows a psychic scream that causes panic in unshielded humans and interferes with Light Gear neural comms.

These animals, Shuha’dar knew, were like dogs and horses to humans, highly valued. The Krill did not like them to get injured in battle or die because of them, indicating a strange, warped affection that belied their brutal purpose.

”They’re good and all,” Chancellor Shuha’dar conceded, his skepticism still evident, ”but what about the human aerial support? Those animals will be minced meat as soon as the aerial barrage comes in.”

One of the silent admirals, Admiral Z’kar, finally spoke, his voice low but firm. ”Chancellor, we also have the Zal’kren and Volriths from Sanguo Prime. They are kept in our containment facilities in Europa.”

A ripple of shock went through the room. For Krills, using winged species was considered treason, as they represented a symbol sacred to their Emperor. The very suggestion was blasphemous.

”However,” Admiral Z’kar continued, addressing the taboo head-on, ”since our Emperor has gone insane, and the Imperial Council decided to oust him, deploying these is no longer treason or heresy. It is an option. A necessary one.”

Shuha’dar viewed both profiles. These were counterparts to human wyvern and drakes in myths, but vastly different, more terrifying.

Holographic Profile: ”Volriths” (”The Scorchwings”) ???? Role: Low-altitude air superiority / anti-ground siege beast

Size: ~20–25 meters wingspan; bulky torso; grounded when not in flight

Locomotion: Can walk and leap — quadruped lander, powerful breastbone for aerial takeoff

Weapon: Thermo-bile breath: Sprays corrosive liquid plasma that ignites on air contact

Skin: Hardened bio-ceramic scales resistant to small arms and light anti-air

Deployment: Dropped in bio-pods from orbit — they tunnel out like hatching beasts, then scorch terrain

Behavior: Territorial and aggressive, often burns indiscriminately until psionically leashed by Krill handler. Treats human vehicles like prey — will dive-bomb APCs and gunships. Uses wing buffets to scatter infantry before unleashing firestream.

Holographic Profile: ???? 2. WYVERN COUNTERPART: ”Zal’kren” (”The Bonewinged Lancers”) ???? Role: High-speed airstrike and harassment

Size: Sleek, ~15-meter wingspan, long talon-tail

Locomotion: Bipedal when grounded; primary attack vector is aerial

Weapon: Barbed tail with neural-laced spikes that inject mindshock venom

Attack Style: Dive-lance harrier — hits at Mach-1 equivalent, then ascends

Armor: Lighter than a Volrith, but has reactive wing-spines that deflect energy pulses

Behavior: Operates in packs of 3–7. Used to harass capital ships, ambush air patrols, and hunt psionics. Can temporarily go invisible to radar via psionic interference glands in the chest. Krill duel-lords often ride a Zal’kren into elite battles.

????️ Krill Domestication System for Both

Control Method: Neural glyph arrays implanted in the beast’s skull cavity — Krill can issue commands with gestures or pulse-thoughts.

Scent-Based Hierarchy: Drakes respond to Krill ”mother-scent,” usually sprayed from glands embedded in command armor.

Loyalty Sacrifice Ritual: To bond, a Krill must bleed into the creature’s mouth — the beast remembers the taste and defends the source violently.

⚔️ Combined Tactics

Volrith (Drake-type): Siege monster — devastates urban defenses, melts vehicles, spreads chaos.

Zal’kren (Wyvern-type): Surgical strike — destroys aerial units, command craft, and Light Gear pilots mid-flight.

Skyrend (Sky-whale type): Strategic support — jams airspace, controls the skies passively.

Together, these creatures formed a layered aerial threat doctrine, capable of crippling human air command, assaulting cities, and clearing the skies for Krill orbital drops. The ”treason” aspect added a layer of desperation and internal political maneuvering within the Krill Empire, a desperate gamble that could either save them or condemn them.

Shuha’dar closed the holographic profiles, his expression grim but resolute. The weight of his decision, the breaking of sacred taboos, settled heavily upon him.

”Very well,” Chancellor Shuha’dar’s voice was firm, making the final decision. ”The Vorloks, the Grak’Toruun, the Volriths, and the Zal’kren. Prepare them for immediate deployment to Earth. Prioritize zones where human ground and air resistance is strongest, particularly the Eastern Hemisphere. This is a desperate measure, but we have no other option if we are to secure our harvest before the Emperor arrives.”

He looked at his remaining generals and admirals, their faces now reflecting a grim determination. ”This is our last chance to secure the future of our species. Failure is not an option.”

Unbeknownst to humanity, and driving Chancellor Shuha’dar’s desperate gamble, the Emperor driven by an ”avaricious and gluttonous craze,” was indeed coming to Earth. Four years seemed a long time, but for the Krill, it was a rapidly shrinking window to secure their future. The deployment of these bio-warforms was not just to defeat humanity, but to ensure a viable harvest and a chance for the Krill to escape their own tyrannical ruler.
