The First Legendary Beast Master

Chapter 1979 Two Potions

The Almeixei Sect wasnʼt the only Clan that thought that they should show up a bit later than the first group of friends and allies to welcome the new additions. Just in case there was a major fight breaking out about their presence.

So, a second day dragged into a third, and then a fourth, while Peak Immortal Clan Leaders from smaller groups increasing distances from the Guild House arrived to congratulate the Darklight Host on obtaining so many new Supreme Ranked craftsmen.

And to place orders, naturally.

They were neither close enough nor powerful enough that an alliance was logical. But they were happy to order equipment or purchase some of the good stuff that Karl kept on display.

It was an excellent time for the Darklight Host.

They were making a killing, and building many new alliances, as well as meeting new potential suppliers, as many of the Clans who came to meet them controlled dungeons that had at least some natural resources inside.

Usually, the Clans werenʼt all that interested in them, unless it was something that directly benefitted their own members. But if they could trade it to a crafting Guild, everything could be considered useful.

In this way, Remi had even managed to obtain three new rare plants for her gardens, while making a name for her new potion.

Not so much with the Guild Masters. They didnʼt need it, as it wouldnʼt allow a Peak Immortal to break through to Supremacy. But with their Elders and disciples, who were stuck somewhere in the Ascended Immortal Stage, unable to reach the peak.

Depending on the System that they had, this one potion could save them decades of work.

Elder Socrate, the Alchemy Elder of the New Home Merchant Clan, thought that the whole thing was hilarious.

The System had named the potion {Remiʼs Potion of Ascendancy} because the two of them were working on different approaches to the same problem. There was a {Socrateʼs Potion of Ascendancy} as well, but the cost was significantly higher due to the resources needed, and his version came without side effects.

It was a fundamental difference in their approach to Alchemy.

Remi didnʼt mind if the user had to suffer a little bit to get the job done, but Socrate did his best to purify every potion and pill so that there were no unwanted interactions with other resources, and no stacking toxic effect if you used many of them to help your growth.

His potion could also be used many times, if necessary. But Remiʼs was most effective the first time.

So, he had simply altered his marketing approach.

First, you used Remiʼs potion, and then you used his if you still needed more growth, or if you hit another bottleneck. The costs would add up, but you could use them together, and it preserved the image that the resources were entirely different, not extremely similar potions made by different Alchemists.

That way, they could ”Encourage” users to try both of them and not either or.

They could even conveniently be purchased directly across the street from one another, or both at the same time if you went to the New Homeʼs warehouse. Though, that was only open to members and close allies of the Clan.

While gear was incredibly profitable, it had nothing on what people were willing to pay for potions that could break a bottleneck in the later stages of the Immortal Realm.

Even two Peerless Grade swords didnʼt cover the retail cost of Socrateʼs potion, though Remi sold hers for the price of one, claiming that it was because she was still Socrateʼs disciple, and therefore couldnʼt claim the same price.

That was a flat out lie. It was because even Remi felt bad if she charged the same price, as hers was made entirely from plants that grew in the Tiny World. She didnʼt even need to use the ones from the new garden.

That one had actually been placed within the Tiny World, waiting for Karl or someone with enough skill to upgrade it a little.

But leaving the entrance open allowed some of the life energy and fundamental rules of the Tiny World to enter, while some of the Supreme Ranked energy leaked out. It increased the upkeep mana of the garden space, but the Tiny World was more than capable of sustaining it.

Karl was working on understanding the changes in the energy of the Supremes so that he could begin to properly integrate it into his Tiny World.

Once he could manage that, he was fairly certain that he would have the understanding that would allow him to bypass the bottleneck at Peak Immortal. And if he could do that, he would be past the single largest bottleneck in all of Immortality.

Fewer than one in a hundred Peak Immortals would ever make it to Supremacy.

Though, much of that was due to the attrition rate, as they tended to kill each other fighting for resources. Without that, there would likely be many more supreme ranked powerhouses.

The situation was similar on the worlds that hosted the Divine Battlefields, but for a different reason.

The Peak Immortals were considered similar to Sergeants. They led teams of Immortals into combat, and served as the primary organizational structure for the battles. So, they were targeted, and being the strongest of the weakest, they also took on the role of champion for the line troops, facing off against the powerhouses of other Immortal forces.

While Karl was a monster by any measure, he was not the only monster in existence.

And on the battlefields, it was entirely possible that someone like him could be leading a hundred Immortals in a charge, which would see another Peak Immortal pushed forward to try to stop him, but without all the polite restrictions of a proper duel.

Without those little details, things like ”You donʼt use summons in a duel” and ”Donʼt destroy the arena”, battles against the true monsters at the Immortal Rank got much more messy.
