252 A Gentleman Is Obligated to His Vengeance
”Emm…Mr. Chen Fan, what can I give you in exchange for this type of crossbow?” Argyll asked, drooling while he rubbed both of his hands together.

Chen Fan scratched his head. ”You know, a crossbow like this is extremely difficult to make, since its limb and bowstring can only be obtained from a special type of tree. Then, they need to be made via more than 20 complex procedures. Furthermore, a workman needs five days to produce just one crossbow. So, the price would be…”

”Please, take it easy on me!” Argyll pleaded, bracing himself.

”What kind of money does your country use? I don’t accept bank notes!”

”Bronze coins, silver coins, and gold coins, or high quality magic crystals!”

”Then, let me have a look at some of your gold coins. I can consider an exchange for more than 10 gold coins, if they are of a high quality!”

”Ah, more than…ten…” Argyll’s eyes were suddenly filled with anxiety. A gold coin was enough for a common family to cover two years at his place. For such a price for a crossbow, even the powerful Gilnan Empire could not afford it! It was much more reasonable for a single crossbow to be priced at around two gold coins.

”Mr. Chen, I’ve placed all of the gold coins on the boat, and there’s also the coins of orcs and elves. Why don’t you have a look at them with me?”

”Okay! Let me see if there is any valuable stuff!” Chen Fan followed Argyll.

”Don’t worry, Mr. Chen. The purity of the gold coins is good, but the price…isn’t it possible to have it reduced? A dozen golden coins is way too much!” On the way to the sailboat, Argyll’s face was full of worried wrinkles, making him look like a bulldog.

”Let me have a look first!”

”Barru, where’re you? Come and make two cups of tea!” Once he stepped on the deck, Argyll shouted loudly, waking the sleeping Barru.

”Are we going to catch the hurricane bird?” Barru, wearing pelt underwear, dashed on the deck. As he did so, his huge body and strength shook the sailboat.

”Go and make two cups of tea first!”

”What? You’re asking me to make tea?” Warm puffs of breath shot out from Barru’s nostrils. ”Old man, we have been here for more than 10 days, when can we catch the hurricane bird?”

”Tomorrow!” Argyll drew back his neck like a tortoise, as he replied, ”Go make some tea first, and I’ll bring you to catch the hurricane bird tomorrow.”

After getting rid of the huge brat, Argyll led Chen Fan to the cabin. He took a sheepskin money pouch from a cabinet that was painted in glowing purple. Then, he spread the coins on the table, just like he was spilling beans from a jar.

”Mr. Chen, these are the gold coins that we use.” Argyll picked up a gold coin, which was as big as bottle cap. The front of the coin was stamped with a mighty old man wearing a crown, while it had thorny flowers on the back. The edge of the coin was serrated, and it weighed about 200 grams.

Chen Fan didn’t know much about gold, so he just took one of the coins and bit it with his teeth. It was soft, and its color was a bright yellowish.

”Mr.Chen, about the price…”

”What is this?” Chen Fan didn’t answer him, but instead picked up a silver coin that was brighter and shinier than the others. The coin was crafted in a simple manner. There was an orc stamped on its front and two crossing tomahawks on its back. The coin was obviously harder than silver, since he had bitten it with his teeth strongly, but could only make a light mark.

”Oh, these are the silver coin that are used by orcs. They are not made from silver, but are still as valuable as silver coins.” Argyll put the silver coin into the sheepskin money pouch with a smile, then pushed the pouch over to Chen Fan. ”Since Mr. Chen Fan is interested in these, you can have them!”

”Hehe…” Chen Fan accepted the money pouch. He actually collected the coins as art, rather than desiring them for any monetary value.

”Mr.Chen Fan, regarding the price…”

”Let me consider this first…”

He figired that a gold coin equals 200 grams of gold and is worth more about 60,000 dollars. But, a Sanlida Chace-Moon crossbow from Jiaozuo City only costs 2,500 dollars. By placing an order with the name of a foreign company, he could obtain a huge amount of crossbows!

”Three gold coins! At least three! I will not sell it for less than this amount!” Chen Fan gave an inscrutable smile. ”I can sell more powerful weapons to you, should we build up a long-term relationship.”

”What kind of weapons?” Argyll, the old ’angry youth’ had obviously been attracted by this offer. For him, Chen Fan was an incarnation of miracles and the unknown.

For instance, to investigate how the hands in a watch were rotating, Barru smashed it and realized that there was equipment inside, which was formed by many gears, the smallest one being no bigger than a grain of rice!

”Hmm…” Chen Fan avoided his question, without feeling shameful. ”Don’t worry! There is nothing that I can’t provide! You can’t even imagine the possibilities! If you can pay for the necessary weapons and such, it will not be a problem to conquer the whole mainland within half year!”

”Hehe…That’s wonderful!” Argyll replied, relieved.

Both of them discussed the details for more than half a day. Then, when the sun set, Chen Fan went back to Yunzhong, riding the electric eel.

Argyll had expressed that he would catch two young hurricane birds with Barru tomorrow, and that he would inform the king once they were back on the mainland. At that time, he would bring 6,000 kilograms of gold, which was worth about 1.8 billion Renminbi here.

He wanted to purchase 10,000 strong crossbows. As for the arrows, Argyll decided to get the workmen to make their arrowheads from wood and steel. He was shocked when Chen Fan offered him the seemingly outrageous trade price of a hundred arrows for a gold coin!

At 5 p.m., the serenity of the dusky sky was broken by a clap of thunder. The dust was also blowing and leaves were flying everywhere. The dark nimbus clouds were condensing, and the rain droplets, which were as big as nuts, penetrated through both the blue sea and the sands of the yellowish gray beach.

”Sir, you’re here!” Inside the dock, Wang Bing greeted Chen Fan with a big grin. There was a bald youth, who was tied on a pillar, beside him. Fear was the only emotion in his eyes.

”Hmm…Why did only one person come?” Chen Fan asked.

”They came again just now, a total of five people. Each of them was holding a machete. But, they were shocked when I took out my gun!”

”Shoot! Run quickly!” Chen Fan looked around, alarmed at what he had just heard. ”They have seen your gun, so they’ll either never come back again, or they’ll return, bringing along their own guns! Why aren’t you running? You want to get shot?”

”Hmm, I guess they’re almost here!”

Wang Bing was talking as if nothing had happened. ”They said before leaving, ’Brat, you think you can lord any power over us with a gun? Don’t think that you’re omnipotent, and don’t run off. Let’s negotiate, once we get back our weapons!’”

”My opinion is, we should run away now, instead of chatting here!” Chen Fan urged.

”Sir, how about you leave first?” Wang Bing patted the Beretta M9 gun cover on his waist. ”There’s 15 cartridges inside this gun, and there are two more on the holster. With a total of 45 cartridges, I can settle this easily, even if he brings 10 gunners back with him.”

”You’re a big talker, but it’s no fun if you die!” Chen Fan dragged Wang Bing away without explanation.

”Don’t, sir! Let me settle this with them now, to avoid troubles in the future.” Wang Bing’s strength was not comparable with Chen Fan, who was unusually strong. Thus, Wang Bing was staggering while being dragged.

”Settle it with just with your gun?” Chen Fan questioned.

”I am able to shoot three fast-moving chest silhouettes within 1.5 seconds, using a QSZ-92. And, if I just hide behind this six centimeters-thick alloy bucket, their bullets can’t penetrate that, even though they use the US army’s M16 model!”

”What if they drive two bucket loaders here? You know that they work in construction, so they own many engineering vehicles. If a gunfight goes down, they’ll certainly drive their loaders here!” Chen Fan pointed out. ”So, what are you waiting for? Run away quickly, as revenge is a dish that should be eaten cold.”

”But…but…” Wang Bing was obviously hoping for a stroke of luck, as he thought he could settle this via his ability alone. But, Chen Fan didn’t leave any time or space for him to think, but dragged him forcefully out from the dock.

It rained heavily. Lightning would strike once in awhile, clearly illuminating their unfocused pupils. Thankfully, there weren’t any incoming bucket loaders for the time being.

”I’ll clear their place tomorrow!” Wang Bing wiped the rain from his face mercilessly, as he drifted towards the road after starting his BMW.

”Sir, where’re we going now?”

”Drive along the beach for two kilometers. I’ll get out there.”

”Aren’t we going back to the hotel?” Wang Bing set the windshield wiper speed up to the highest speed. ”It’s raining heavily, so let’s back to hotel and wait it out!”

”It’s okay, I’m ready to go on the boat. Be careful when you return back to the hotel, as I’m worried that they might bring trouble, especially if they know that the hotel is connected to me.”

”Okay!”

After getting out of the car, Chen Fan covered his head with his jacket, then rushed to the beach. When Wang Bing had disappeared in the car, he closed his eyes and projected his conscience onto the eel.

Going on the boat was just an excuse. Chen Fan planned to settle these gangsters who obviously didn’t know their place. But, he knew that it needed to be done in secrecy, which was why he had found an excuse to send Wang Bing away!
