Earth's Greatest Magus

Chapter 2671: Temporal Duel 2

”Kronos!! You’re siding with the enemy!”

Emery’s voice thundered across the battlefield as he forcefully pulled the critically injured Durak back into his domain. The orc bled heavily, his massive frame limp from the brutal strike.

”Enemy?” Kronos sneered, his eyes glinting with cold amusement. ”For all I know, you’re the one who dragged me into this mess!... You are the enemy!!”

Emery had suspected that Kronos might not lend aid, but to witness him openly side with the dark elf so soon exposed the depths of his malice. His motivations were as slippery as ever.

Talaro, watching the exchange unfold, chuckled darkly.

”Hahaha... Humans and your petty scheming,” he mocked. His gaze shifted to Kronos, filled with derision. ”Don’t even think of winning my trust. I don’t need you!”

With those words, the dark elf extended his arms wide. A violent howl swept through the bubble-like battlefield. A blizzard erupted, laced with malevolent Khaos energy, blanketing the battlefield in frost and shadow. But this was no mere elemental spell—it was a manifestation of [Battlefield Domain], a technique powerful enough to warp the very laws within the area. It was a clear display of his ability to defy the realm’s restrictions.

The snow wasn’t just cold; it carried soul-numbing weight. Pressure descended like an iron curtain, stifling movement and magic alike. The temperature within the bubble realm plummeted instantly. Jagged sheets of black ice crystallized in midair. Everyone was struck by the sudden heaviness, their bodies and souls weighed down as if reality itself had thickened.

A typical grand magus would counter such a domain with their own cosmic force. But here, the realm’s restrictions severed their access to the full breadth of that power. For Talaro, who had adapted to the realm’s, this environment gave him the ultimate advantage.

Emery’s enslaved beasts felt it instantly. The lizard beast, already weakened without Durak on its back, was the first to falter. Frostwebs of ice rapidly crawled up its limbs, hardening its joints and stiffening its stance. Before it could break free, a pack of skeletal serpents lunged from all sides, their bone tails coiling and snapping with vicious precision. The lizard beast roared in agony as it was driven to the ground—its fate sealed beneath a writhing storm of undead fury.

The flying serpent fared better. Livi, riding atop it, summoned fierce Everburn flames that warded off the creeping frost. But with the fall of the lizard beast, all six skeletal beasts turned their focus toward her. Livi unleashed a barrage of fireballs, each one detonating with force, but the serpents twisted through the air with unnatural agility. Within seconds, she was surrounded.

”Livi! Return—now!” Emery shouted.

She banked the serpent in a sharp arc, trying to retreat to the safety of the Elysian barrier.

Unfortunately, her path was swiftly blocked—two of skeletal beasts surged forward, their icy auras reinforced by the domain’s freezing blizzard. But before they could reach her, another figure broke through the restraints of the realm.

The Dark Emery, in his half-primal state, emerged from the storm. With a feral growl, he drove his Khaos-enhanced claws into one of the skeletal beasts, crushing its skull and spine in a single sweeping strike. The creature shattered into frost and bone, scattering under the oppressive storm.

Talaro’s gaze sharpened. He had sensed it—Emery had broken the domain’s hold, not just through brute force, a faint trace of cosmic energy rippled in Emery’s every movement.

”So... you’ve made it this far,” Talaro muttered under his breath, impressed. Just like him, Dark Emery had transcended the constraints of the realm using mastery over spatial laws

”It seems I still have to step in and fight,” Talaro said coldly.

But before he could move, a voice called out.

”Wait.”

A figure emerged from the swirling frost. Kronos. His movements were sluggish, his robes coated with frost, and the cutting winds of the domain suppressed his power. Without access to his full cosmic might, he struggled.

”You don’t have to trust me,” Kronos said, ”But you need me.”

Talaro turned his head slowly, like a predator sizing up an insect. His expression was pure disdain. ”What could I possibly need from you?”

Kronos didn’t flinch. Despite the freezing wind biting at his face, he met Talaro’s gaze with unwavering confidence.

”I don’t know exactly what this place is... but I can feel it. Time is twisted here—compressed, distorted. This isn’t just a sealed battlefield... It’s a temporal bubble... and I am a Grand Magus of the Temporal Path.” ʀἁƝO͍₿ËŠ

The statement piqued Talaro’s interest—but not enough. ”So what...? What can you do?”

Kronos, cunning as ever, had a ready answer. ”The mysterious figure... he clearly said: Time and Space... these are the keys.

You’re a spatial master. You need me, a temporal master, to escape this trial.”
Talaro was intrigued by the logic. What impressed him even more was the realization that the opposing side also had both a Temporal and a Spatial master. That alone confirmed it—this was some kind of trial. Otherwise, the mysterious figure, with all that power, could have simply saved them... or wiped them out.

With that line of thought, Talaro made his decision. He released the domain binding around Kronos and said coldly,

”It seems you’re right... But I only need one temporal master. Kill him—if you want to survive.”

Kronos froze for a moment, disbelief flashing across his face as he followed the dark elf’s finger, pointing toward the other Emery, the one hidden deep within the thick wall of Elysian roots. The Earth Magus.

Emery—the thorn in his grand plan to dominate Earth. The one who had ruined everything. And now... to learn that this same man had grasped the secrets of temporal magic? That made him the single greatest threat to Kronos’ future.

Hatred surged.

With grim acceptance, Kronos raised his scythe. Freed from the domain’s binding, he cast one of his deadliest spells—Temporal Rift Cascade. The air around him twisted, warped. Two shimmering phantoms of himself emerged, temporal echoes from fractured timelines.

The trio moved in perfect sync, each slash bending the flow of seconds itself. They descended upon the Elysian walls, striking them with fury. Bolstered by Talaro’s freezing battlefield domain, the ancient roots groaned beneath the assault, cracks spiderwebbing through their crystalline surfaces.

At the same time, Talaro made his move. Without a word, he launched himself at the dark Emery, his blade glowing with cosmic energy. The battlefield shifted once more into chaos.

But just as the wall began to shatter—when the final root split with a deep, echoing crack—everything changed.

A sudden warmth surged from within.

It was gentle at first, but it spread rapidly, overtaking the frozen domain like the first breath of spring after a brutal winter. The frost-ridden wind hesitated. The icy ground trembled.

Talaro grimaced, instantly sensing the shift.

From within the roots, a female figure floated upward, wrapped in flames. Her crimson hair danced like wildfire, her eyes alight with radiant fury.

Morgana.

The flame around wasn’t ordinary. It was the primordial power of the comic flame.

She wasn’t just recovered—she had been reborn through fire.
