Earth's Greatest Magus

Chapter 2548: Sever

At this critical moment, Emery realized that his Dao of Heaven and Earth was still incomplete.

He possessed a vast understanding of the eight nature elements, yet his comprehension of the deeper laws—the fundamental opposition between light and darkness—remained lacking. And as the Grandmaster had warned, Khaos was something beyond even that. It was not merely darkness; it was something more—something that defied the very fabric of existence.

For the longest time, Emery had suspected that Khaos was an entity that went beyond the Primordial Wisp, a force outside the conventional laws of reality. And now, as the ferocious heavenly tribulation rained down upon him, punishing his existence itself, that suspicion was confirmed.

Yet, rather than seeing it as a curse, Emery saw the truth: This meant Khaos was something special. Something unique. And if such a force had chosen him, he would not simply let it go—not unless there was no other choice.

But now, he needed answers. Answers that could only come from the entity itself.

Gritting his teeth against the overwhelming pain, Emery dived deep into his inner domain, pushing past the turbulent cosmic energy, past the barriers of his mind, beyond the Gate of Khaos.

”I know youʼre here... I know youʼre listening!”

His voice echoed through the vast expanse of his domain, calling out to the ancient entity that lurked within. He remembered the last time the Primordial Being had intervened—when it had saved his life, leading him out of the Eternal Void Zone. Back then, it had shown him the way. And now, more than ever, he needed its guidance once more.

”You helped me before!” Emery shouted into the abyss. ”And now, I ask for another favor—show me how to get out of this mess!”

But there was no answer.

Only silence.

Emery had no time to wait.

The tribulation lightning surged once more, its wrath turning inward, breaking him from the inside out. His very core threatened to collapse under the unbearable strain. His soul was reaching its limit.

”TELL ME HOW!!” he roared. ”Or I have no choice but to let you go!”

By ”letting it go,” Emery meant severing Khaos from his cosmic formation—allowing his Cosmic Circle to form without its influence. His understanding of the Law of Nature had already reached an astonishing 50% comprehension. With that, he was certain he could create a complete Cosmic Circle using the fusion of nature and light.

But still, there was silence.

His patience snapped. ”DAMN IT!”

There was no more time to hesitate. He needed a solution—now.

And in that desperate moment, an idea struck him.

Instead of trying to merge the forces of nature and Khaos, he would separate them.

A bold, reckless idea—but one that might just work.

Rather than attempting to balance the opposing forces within a single cosmic circle, he would divide his very soul into two perfectly balanced halves. ℟áƝồᛒÈ𝙨

Emery had trained in split-soul techniques before, but never like this. Never on this scale. One half of his soul would embody the full power of nature, while the other would embrace darkness—along with Khaos itself.

This was madness.

A single Cosmic Circle already demanded an immense amount of soul force. To form two separate Cosmic Circles at the same time? That required twice the energy.

But Emery had no other choice. His accumulated soul force was vast, and the overwhelming cosmic energy from the heavenly tribulation was still pouring into him, filling the void left behind.

As he began the process, the artificial being within his mind warned him.

[Warning: Extremely low success rate. Failure will result in irreparable soul damage.]

But there was no turning back.

The first attempt failed.

His body shuddered violently as the energies collapsed inward, threatening to annihilate him.

The second attempt failed.

A blinding surge of pain tore through his soul, nearly knocking him unconscious.

The third attempt failed. His vision darkened, his strength wavering.

His body was at its limit.

”This is like forcing my mind to look left while looking right at the same time!”

He couldnʼt just split his soul. He needed a complete disconnection—two separate, independent entities, each capable of existing on its own.

And then, he remembered.

There was already a trace of this division within him.

Something within his soul had fractured, a trace that was created during his Magus breakthrough. Now, he had to undo that patchwork connection.

He hesitated for a brief moment.

But there was no more time. The tribulation lightning was still falling, and his core was seconds away from imploding.

”This is the way!”

Summoning every ounce of his willpower, Emery focused entirely on the severance.

He split his consciousness apart, forcing his mind to exist as two separate, balanced souls.

His soul hovered, suspended above his vast domain, their presence radiating immense power. Below them, the entire realm quaked under the overwhelming surge of cosmic energy. The division between the forces of light and darkness became even more pronounced—the towering mountains, shrouded in shadow, and the lush forests, gleaming with vibrant light, separated further as if the world itself was being cleaved apart.

Emery gritted his teeth, the strain nearly unbearable as he wielded the Dao of Heaven and Earth to force the separation within himself. The energies within him rebelled, resisting the unnatural split. Yet, with unwavering focus, he guided them into two distinct entities, forging a path no one before him had dared to walk.

Two identical souls were formed, and finally, the blockade that had hindered him shattered.

The cosmic energy, vast and all-encompassing, surged into his body and soul like a dam breaking. It coursed through him, burning, reshaping, and reconstructing every fiber of his being. He gasped as the power overwhelmed his senses, his form trembling from the sheer intensity of the transformation.

The heavens roared in response. The storm that had sought to erase him, to judge him, had begun to wane. The oppressive weight of the tribulation was lifting—

—but not before delivering one final, decisive strike.

A bolt unlike any before tore through the sky, a spear of divine wrath descending upon him. The Supreme Beingʼs barrier, already weakened from the relentless assault, shattered like glass, unable to stop its descent. With nothing left to protect him, the final tribulation, lightning struck Emery head-on.

KABOOMMM!!!

For a single, breathless moment, everything froze.

His vision blurred. His body convulsed. His very soul screamed in agony. And then—

An explosion of power erupted from within him.

His mind trembled as waves of knowledge and comprehension flooded in. His body, broken and reformed, pulsed with boundless strength. His soul, once whole, now stood divided yet perfectly balanced between two opposing forces.

The first Cosmic Circle took shape, its radiant energy harmonizing the elements of Nature and Light. It brimmed with vitality, pulsating like the core of a newborn star.

[Cosmic Circle has formed.]

[Law of Light: 23%]

But even as he marveled at his newfound power, his second soul trembled violently. The cosmic energy struggled to complete the formation of the second circle, its flow unstable, on the verge of collapse. Emeryʼs breath caught—he was at the edge of failure.

Then, as if answering his desperation, the mountains rumbled.

The presence of Khaos surged forth and pulled his second soul into the mountain. Dark tendrils coiled, filling the void that threatened to consume him.

His second Cosmic Circle ignited into existence, its essence a stark contrast to the first—where one was radiant and nurturing, this was a vortex of consuming darkness and infinite depth.

[You have broken through into the Grand Magus realm.]

And just like that, the storm was over.

The clouds that had suffocated the sky scattered, leaving behind a breathtaking celestial glow. The air, once thick with the weight of tribulation, felt light, almost welcoming.

Emery slowly descended, his body renewed, his spirit altered in a way that could never be undone. As he touched the ground, his domain pulsed with recognition, bowing to its masterʼs transformation.

He had broken through into the grand magus realm with a twin Cosmic Circle.
