Earth's Greatest Magus

Chapter 2348: Sealing

Emery surged forward, his predatory instincts pushing him to close the distance. He had to stop Adam and silence the Nephilim Apostle before the bells drained him completely.

But Adam, relying on the divine wings that spanned majestically from his back, gracefully soared away, maintaining a safe distance while continuing to chant, the intricate sealing spell.

Every step he took felt heavier, his movements slower, as if the very air around him had thickened. The Khaos energy, once a raging storm within him, now felt like a dwindling ember, slowly being snuffed out.

At that moment, Emery understood the true nature of the trap he had walked into. The Nephilim hadnʼt just chosen Adam by chance. They had studied him and learned from the many battles he had fought over the last few years. They knew about his primal beast, his reliance on Khaos, and had prepared accordingly.

Emeryʼs breathing grew ragged as the relentless pursuit dragged on.

His Khaos energy, once a roaring storm, now felt distant, and muted, and the restless stirring of the Star Devouring beast within him added to the chaos. Its hunger surged, pushing against the mental barriers he had erected, but Emery knew better than to let it loose, especially in front of the crowd. With a grimace, Emery made a critical decision. He couldnʼt let this battle spiral into something uncontrollable. He had to cut it off.

Abruptly, Emery halted his chase. His primal energy flickered one last time before he forced it down, severing his connection to the Khaos within. The beastʼs roar echoed in his mind as he locked it away, the dark aura dissipating as he reverted fully to his human form. Gasps rippled through the audience, their awe-filled murmurs spreading like wildfire. The sight of Emeryʼs transformation back to his original state was unexpected.

Had he given up? Was the battle over? Adam, witnessing the dramatic shift, interpreted it as surrender. The Nephilim apostle slowly descended from the sky, his golden wings retracting slightly as his feet touched the ground. Confidence radiated from him, and his once-solemn expression softened with what appeared to be pity.

”Repent,” Adamʼs voice rang out, filled with self-righteous conviction. ”Let me cleanse the evil that festers within you… and all your sins shall be forgiven.”

Emery opened his eyes, and Adam, expecting surrender, was met with a fierce, unwavering determination. He took a deep breath, slightly frustrated. ”There is no need to resist anymore... Darkness will never prevail against the light. Itʼs—”

His words faltered mid-sentence. A shift in the air. Adamʼs eyes narrowed as he suddenly sensed a drastic change in Emeryʼs aura.

It was no longer the chaotic, oppressive energy that had permeated the battlefield moments ago. Instead, a wave of refreshing, calming energy—pure and natural. It was as though the light of life itself flowed through Emery.

The shift grew stronger as Emery raised his arm, activating his [Elysian Vambrace]. The artifact he forged from the essence of the sacred Elysian tree, began to glow. Brilliant, pulsing energy radiated from its surface, casting a soft, golden light. With a measured calm, Emery placed his hand on the ground, channeling the essence of nature into the very earth beneath his feet.

The arena trembled in response. The rumbling of an earthquake echoed through the space, catching the attention of every spectator. And then, with a mighty surge, dozens of thick, twisting vines erupted from the ground. They snaked across the broken landscape, their verdant tendrils turning the once-scorched battlefield into a sprawling jungle of life. Adam stood his ground, unimpressed by the spectacle. ”Hmm…” he muttered, his tone dismissive. ”Iʼve heard of your proficiency in nature, but this... this is far from enough.”

As if to prove his point, the Apostle raised his sword. With a casual swing, the blade hummed with divine power, cutting through the air. In one swift motion, every vine that approached him was sliced apart, disintegrating into ashes before they could even touch him. The fact was, without the energy of Khaos coursing through him, Emeryʼs battle power diminished significantly, leaving him vulnerable. If the duel shifted into a physical confrontation, the balance of power would tilt heavily in Adamʼs favor. To the audience, it was evident: Emeryʼs display of vines and nature magic seemed like a desperate attempt.

”Like I said… your defeat is inevitable,” Adam declared with an air of confidence. He advanced, striding forward with casual arrogance, effortlessly slicing through the walls of vines that had risen to deter him. Each swing of his sword sent splinters flying, the roots crumbling beneath his power.

However, as he pressed closer, he suddenly noticed a shift in the density of the vines.

Adam quickly turned and saw a smile spread across Emeryʼs face as he calmly said, ”Too late...”

In an instant, more thick vines erupted from the ground, but these were different. They shimmered with glowing runes pulsing with energy.

This was no mere entanglement; it was a new spell that Emery had painstakingly crafted, combining years of experience in root spells with the profound insights he had gained from the Seraph City library. His deepening bond with the Elysian trees had culminated in the creation of a magus-level spell he proudly named [Elysian Roots]. ⱤÃΝọ₿ËṦ

The spell boasted a tier 7 durability rating, though its limited range had forced Emery to lure Adam closer with the weaker roots before unleashing the full force of his new technique.

As the dense, rune-covered vines began to ensnare him, Adamʼs confidence faltered. Panic flickered across his face; the vines were far more resilient than he had anticipated, requiring significantly more effort to cut through.

In a frantic attempt to escape, he launched himself into the air, soaring upward to avoid being trapped. But one vine lashed out with a swift, serpentine movement, coiling around his leg and anchoring him in place.

”ARGHH!!” Adam shouted in frustration, feeling the crushing grip of the vine tighten around his foot, squeezing mercilessly.
