Earth's Greatest Magus

Chapter 2166: Rage

”I will rejoin you with her... in death!” The inhuman figureʼs chilling words ignited a furious blaze within Emery. The rage surged through him, and Khaosʼs power flooded his veins, amplifying his wrath.

”Did you kill her?! TELL ME!!” Emeryʼs voice thundered through the chamber, the intensity of his demand shaking the very air around him.

The three cosmos figure chuckled, his gaze drifting towards the pit below. ”Canʼt you find her? She must be there somewhere!” His words were laced with a cruel, mocking tone that only served to fuel the fire of Emeryʼs anger.

Annara, unable to contain her own fury, was the first to react. ”YOU MONSTER!!!” she screamed, her form shifting into her specter bat transformation. With a high-pitched shriek, she unleashed her sonic attack, a devastating wave of sound that tore through the air and crashed into the grand magus.

Unfortunately, Annaraʼs sonic attack seemed to have no effect on the grand magus. With a casual flick of his finger, he pulled Annaraʼs body toward him with an invisible force, his grip closing around her neck. It would take only a slight squeeze to snap her neck, but Emery was already in motion. Using his spatial bending ability, he appeared beside them in an instant, his eyes glowing with the power of his [Spectral Gaze], momentarily freezing the grand magus.

SWISSH!!!

Emery unleashed his [Void Blade], aiming for the grand magusʼs neck. The blade sliced through the air, but instead of cutting flesh, it met only a shimmering mirage. The grand magus had anticipated the attack and evaded just in time. Despite the miss, Emery managed to pull Annara free from the manʼs grasp, flinging her towards Livi using his spirit reading abilities.

”Annara, get back!” Emery shouted, his voice edged with urgency.

Livi caught Annara, quickly ensuring she was unharmed before both of them retreated a safe distance. Emery shifted into a defensive stance, his sword ready, eyes locked on the inhuman grand magus. The air around them seemed to crackle with tension, each second stretching into an eternity.

”You are pretty interesting,” the grand magus sneered, his deformed face twisting into a grotesque semblance of a smile. ”What kind of power is that?”

”The kind of power that would kill you!” Emery declared with unwavering resolve.

”Hahaha,” the grand magus laughed, his voice echoing with malice. ”I have a few minutes to be entertained… show me your strength, and I will reconsider taking you alive.”

Without warning, the grand magusʼs hands began to transform, morphing into twisted blades made of bone and muscle, each emanating an ominous aura that seemed to darken the very air around them.

Recognizing the vast difference in their strengths, Emery did not hesitate. He unleashed his [Immortal Gate Stage 9], a surge of energy flooding through his body as his bloodline transformation took hold. The increase in his battle power was palpable.

[Battle Power increased by 512]

[Battle Power: 654 (1316)]

With the emergence of Cthulhu, his power surged even further, shattering the 1500 threshold. Emery felt the overwhelming might coursing through his veins.

The two charged at each other, the grand magus with his bone blades, and Emery with his enhanced abilities and the [Void Blade]. The clash was cataclysmic.

BAMMM!!!

The impact of their collision sent shockwaves through the chamber, causing walls to crack and debris to rain down from the ceiling. The air itself seemed to tremble under the force of their exchange. Emeryʼs enhanced speed and strength allowed him to match the grand magus blow for blow, each strike resonating with devastating power.

To the grand magusʼ shocking surprise, Emery was not only able to block his attacks but also launched effective counters. Emeryʼs savage sword, crackling with spatial energy, landed several deep cuts on the grand magus. With a powerful swing, he even managed to sever one of the grand magusʼs arms.

”WHAT!!!” the grand magus exclaimed, his voice filled with disbelief and rage.

Sensing an opportunity, Emery aimed a decisive strike at the grand magusʼs neck. However, the blade missed by mere inches. The grand magusʼs shoulder suddenly deformed, morphing into a grotesque shield that blocked Emeryʼs blade before being thrown back several meters by the force into the wall. ṝ₳ꞐօᛒĘṣ

”Tell me!!… tell me where she is!” Emery demanded, his voice a mix of desperation and fury. His breath was heavy, his eyes blazing with determination.

Regaining his composure, the grand magus stared at Emery with a little chuckle ”A magus that could overpower someone like me... hahaha... Who is the monster here? Itʼs no wonder they put such a huge interest in you!!”

Emery took a deep breath, controlling the immense power coursing through his veins. The strain of maintaining the stage nine Immortal Gate was immense; it felt as if every muscle in his body was being torn apart. Yet, he had to endure the pain, knowing that only with the Immortal Gate boost could he hope to close the gap between himself and his opponent.

One cosmos grand magus typically boasted a battle power of 1000, with two cosmos reaching 1500 and three cosmos passing beyond 2000 battle power. VIA had detected the grand magusʼs strength at the lower stage of the three cosmos, suggesting a minium battle power of 1900. This discrepancy could only mean one thing: the grand magus had yet to unleash his full power. Emery regretted not being able to kill him when he had the chance.

As expected, the grand magus began to channel the power of his domain through his body. The severed arm regenerated rapidly, transforming into an even more formidable blade, gleaming with a menacing aura. His eyes, devoid of any human emotion, locked onto Emery with an unsettling focus.

”No more playing; I will cut all your limbs now!” the grand magus declared, his voice dripping with malicious glee.

The fierce battle of blades continued, each clash echoing through the chamber. Emery unleashed everything in his arsenal: spatial movements, spirit attacks, and his newly learned sword techniques. Despite having less battle power, Emery managed to land some critical hits, but his opponentʼs ability to regenerate made it seem almost futile. The grand magusʼs wounds would close as soon as they were inflicted, his body knitting back together with eerie speed.

As the minutes passed, Emery felt the strain of maintaining the Immortal Gate technique. His power began to wane, and the burning intensity of his enhanced state started to dissipate.

[Immortal Gate drop to Stage 8]

The loss of 250 battle power was a significant blow. With his strength and speed diminished, Emery found himself increasingly on the defensive. The grand magus pressed his advantage, his attacks relentless. Blood flowed from multiple wounds on Emeryʼs body, each one a testament to the ferocity of the battle.

”Hahaha… Is that all… thatʼs the best you can do!?” taunted the grand magus, his confidence growing with each passing second.

Annara and Livi, seeing Emeryʼs dire situation, prepared to join the fray and assist him. But Emery, sensing their intentions, shouted, ”Get out of this place… NOW!”

”No, no, no one is leaving!!” the grand magus hissed, his eyes gleaming with sadistic delight.

He extended his hands, and the walls of the chamber seemed to come alive, tendrils of dark energy snaking out to block any escape routes. The grand magusʼs control over his domain was absolute, and he intended to make sure none of them left the chamber alive.

Gritting his teeth, Emery called out to the Khaos Guardian within him, ”Cthulhu, give me more! more!”

The power of Khaos intensified, enveloping his body like a shroud of living shadow. His battle power surged once more, a desperate but necessary boost to keep the inhuman grand magus from killing Annara and Livi.

”What is this now? That strange energy again!” the grand magus exclaimed, a mix of curiosity and frustration in his voice.

The surge of power forced Emery into a half-trance state. His consciousness began to blur, but his body moved with precision and purpose, unlocking his maximum potential. The sword in his hand felt like an extension of his very being. Summoning his strength, Emery executed one of the three powerful techniques of the Axis Mountain Sword, the [Hill Cleaving Slash].

CLANK!!!

The force of the slash shattered one of the grand magusʼs bone blades and sliced deep into his shoulder. In that fleeting moment of opportunity, Emery reached out, pulling both Annara and Livi into his Magus Domain. But the maneuver left him exposed for just an instant.

In that split second, the grand magus retaliated. His second blade plunged deep into Emeryʼs chest.

URGHH!!!

Emery let go of his sword and grabbed the grand magusʼs blade with both arms, muscles straining against the cold steel embedded in his chest. The grand magus laughed, a harsh, grating sound, ”Hahaha, a pointless resistance… now you shall—”

The words stopped abruptly as the grand magusʼs mocking expression turned to one of shock. What he had initially thought was a desperate, futile move was quickly overshadowed by a sudden, dramatic transformation in Emery.

With the overwhelming power of Khaos as his foundation, Emeryʼs mental state became the trigger. His daughterʼs fate was still shrouded in mystery; he could not stop here, he could not fail her—he could not!

[Primal Transformation]

At that moment, a surge of power radiated from Emery, shaking the ground beneath Faulen City. The magnitude of this transformation was intense enough that it drew attention even amidst the godly battle raging above.

”What is that?! Another beast?!”
