Earth's Greatest Magus

Chapter 2017: Proficiency

Emeryʼs ability to manipulate elements beyond his proficiency stemmed from his mastery of the divine technique known as the [8 Elements Transmutation Technique]. This remarkable skill allowed him to convert his innate light-based spirit energy into any of the eight fundamental elements.

For the past four years, Emery has dedicated himself to honing his understanding of not just his darkness but also light. Through a deeper comprehensive of the law of light, he had reached a level of proficiency where he could comfortably wield any of the 8 elemental forces. However, it was his heightened proficiency in spirit reading that truly set him apart.

Through his enhanced spirit reading, Emery gained the unique ability to perceive the intricate flow of spirit energy employed by his adversaries. This keen perception allowed him to analyze and mimic their spellcasting techniques to some level of degree with remarkable accuracy.

It was precisely for this reason that Emery had requested a limitation to tier 4 spells for their exchanges. A strategic decision aimed at swiftly resolving the confrontation without revealing the full extent of his true power.

Each of his opponents was a master in their respective elements, and if pushed to their limits, Emery would have no choice but to unleash his formidable Khaos power to quell the conflict—a measure he hoped to avoid if possible.

However, mastering a combined spell posed a considerable challenge for Emery. The process involved a complex manipulation of his spirit energy, requiring him to divide it into two streams and channel each into his divine skill for transmutation into the respective elements.

Emery found himself confronted with a daunting task. While he managed to summon the ten ice shards successfully, merging them with the wind elements proved to be more elusive. Despite his earnest efforts, Emery could only achieve approximately 60% of the spellʼs full strength on his initial attempt.

Luckily for Emery, the shock of the situation masked his partial success from Servian, who was left shaken by the sudden twist of events. Unsure of himself, Servianʼs confidence wavered, resulting in a less potent spell. Undeterred, Emery remained steadfast and resolute, intercepting all ten icicles with precision, effectively thwarting the threat they posed.

”Success!” Emery couldnʼt help but smile triumphantly as his spell erupted in a spectacular display.

A barrage of ice blasts detonated across the central stage, filling the chamber with a swirling mist of frost. While Servian stood frozen in shock, the two other instructors wasted no time in launching a sudden and coordinated attack on Emery. It was a calculated and shameless act of aggression,

”We never agreed to abide by the tier 4 rules!”

”Never did we agree on fighting one on one!”

These were the justifications they both had; Coral, the rugged-looking man, cast a spell to enhance his spirit energy into one powerful punch [Cannon Punch], directly targeting Emery from the front, while Sadis disappeared into the shadows.

Gasps rippled through the crowd as spectators reacted to the underhanded tactics of Coral and Sadis. Some expressed disgust at their dishonesty, while others watched with anticipation, hoping that these two instructors would deliver a stern lesson to the newcomer.

Observing the blatant disregard for fair play, Emery felt no need to hold back any longer. With steely resolve, he remained rooted to his spot, prepared to retaliate against the treacherous assault.

”Foolish!!!” Coral bellowed confidently, convinced that his punch would either inflict significant harm or, at the very least, propel Emery several meters backward.

BAAMMM!!!

With a resounding impact, the two powerful punches collided. However, contrary to Coralʼs expectations, his arm instantly fractured upon contact, and the force of the collision sent him hurtling a dozen meters backward, crashing into the walls with a resounding thud.

To everyoneʼs astonishment, Emeryʼs punching arm was already covered in silvery fur, a manifestation of his twilight wolf partial transformation. His single punch proved overwhelming for the combat instructors.

This unexpected display created a momentary opening, which Sadis seized with a wicked grin, he conjured two sharp daggers made of darkness spell technique known as [Bloody Reap] to strike from the sideaimed for Emeryʼs waist.

”You are too slow!!!” Sadis taunted triumphantly.

Yet, in a sudden twist of events, a surge of powerful spirit force emanated from Emery, a terrifying set of eyes halting Sadisʼ movements in their tracks. ”What!!”

In that split-second, Emery seized the opportunity to grab Sadisʼ arm, and his furry arm swung into a powerful uppercut that sent the magus hurtling upward, crashing into the ceiling with a resounding impact. ɌаɴǑ𝐛ƐŠ

BAAMMM!!!

While not all the instructors could discern the subtleties of Emeryʼs hidden spirit attack, they were captivated and amazed by his formidable battle prowess. With just a single exchange, Emery remained standing, having successfully incapacitated two experienced instructors.

Despite his dominating presence, Emeryʼs expression remained humble as he apologized for his rough action, a gesture that seemed out of place. He then turned his attention to Servian, who remained frozen in shock.

Confirming Servianʼs reluctance to continue, Emery offered a gracious acknowledgment to him and the others who participated. ”Thank you for going easy on me,”

The impressive demonstration left all who witnessed it in awe. Some speculated that Emeryʼs true strength lay in his half-

blood transformation, while others marveled at his ability to wield multiple elements with such finesse. Regardless of their interpretations, there was unanimous agreement that a formidable force had emerged among their ranks, and many wondered just how far this young instructor would ascend.

”Emery Ambrose, inner instructor, hall 120 will be your responsibility now,” declared the Deputy Headmaster, presenting him with a bronze token to access the designated area.

With Emeryʼs appointment, along with the confirmation of the two other instructors, the chamber erupted into celebratory cheers.

However, amidst the joyful atmosphere, the Deputy Headmaster delivered a sobering reminder that elicited a heavy sigh from to the three new instructors.

”Within the next 19 days,” the Deputy Headmaster announced solemnly, ”each hall is required to recruit at least 20 acolytes. Failure to meet this quota will result in the merging of the hall with others.”

Emery felt a weight settle in the pit of his stomach at the prospect of this new challenge. Considering the time constraints and the competition from other halls. He couldnʼt help but wonder how difficult it would be to persuade young talents to join their ranks.

Following the gathering, several instructors approached Emery, eager to acquaint themselves with the newest addition to their ranks. However, before he could engage in further conversation, the Deputy Headmaster called him over, signaling that there were still pressing matters to discuss.
