The Golem Mage

“Dragov Dragonmir, it’s your turn to take the stage!” The red-haired referee called out, since Damien had been escorted out of the battle ring by the reserve team of the Bloodline Academy.

Now, it was only Marcus Sanctus who awaited Dragov for the climactic final match to commence at the battle ring.

Without hesitation, Dragov rose from his seat and began his deliberate stride toward the battle ring, the resounding drag of his battle axe accompanying each of his slow yet steadfast steps as he made his way to the battle ring stairs.

“Dragov!!!” The fans of the Bloodline Academy erupted in cheers, their voices ringing out even before he set foot in the arena.

It was as if they were summoning him to make things right, to secure victory for their Academy team.

To them, Dragov was not only the last warrior standing but also the captain of their Academy squad.

And they placed the weight of their academy’s ambitions squarely on his shoulders.

If Dragov failed to defeat Marcus, it would signify the end of the Bloodline Academy’s hopes of reaching the top four and contending for the championship as the premier institution for mages.

Yet, if Dragov managed to triumph over Marcus, he would then face Julian, the captain of the Holy Grail Academy and the last mage standing from the opposition academy.

Only by vanquishing both Marcus and Julian could the Bloodline Academy advance to the pivotal third round of the competition.

This was precisely why Damien had exhausted every effort to drain Marcus’s mana, unveiling an imperfect spell he had yet to complete in a grand fashion.

And the fate of the Bloodline Academy now rested heavily on the highly anticipated shoulders of their revered captain, Dragov Dragonmir.

—

In a resounding display of determination, Dragov embedded his axe deeply into the ground of the battle ring.

Running a hand through his flowing white hair, as he swept it back and secured it into a ponytail, revealing his eyes to the eagerly awaiting crowd for the first time.

Those eyes shimmered with an otherworldly intensity, akin to pools of molten gold residing within their sockets.

The vibrant hue of Dragov’s iris exuded a serene energy that seemed to conceal a smouldering anger within.

Merely gazing into his eyes, Marcus could already sense the weight of the impending battle.

“And now, introducing the final mage to step onto the stage for the Bloodline Academy, let us welcome Captain Dragov Dragonmir!”

The red-haired referee’s announcement triggered an uproar from the crowd.

While many had heard tales of Dragov, they were yet to witness his powers first-hand, so expectations were high, with some anticipating a hulking figure and a commanding presence like most members of the Dragonmir clan.

However, Dragov appeared no different from any other ordinary teenager, except for his captivating inverted dragon eyes.

“Begin!”

As soon as the referee’s voice signalled the start of the fight, Marcus sprang into action, his hair glowing with white light as he entered the holy state once more.

He had no intention of testing Dragov; he was going straight for the kill, unleashing a flurry of light-infused sword Qis ( light slashes merged with Qi to improve the damage) aimed directly at Dragov.

Yet, with a simple movement of his left hand, Dragov effortlessly shuffled his defence, skilfully blocking each attack.

The crowd marvelled at his ease in repelling Marcus’s onslaught, Despite Marcus moving at lightning speed around him, Dragov nonchalantly parried each strike.

Finally, the blur of light dashing through the battle ring came to a halt as Marcus reappeared, gazing at Dragov with a furrowed brow.

“If being a speedster is the only talent you possess, I suggest you give up now,” Dragov taunted.

Marcus, however, paid no mind to his words, but he felt a pang of offense, realizing that despite his relentless assault, he had not even forced Dragov to lift his axe.
