The Alpha's Unwanted Bride

Chapter 772: SCARLETT!

It was rare.

Almost impossible for mother to reveal her wolf.

Her wolf was more quiet and docile.

The few times she had was at father when I had been growing up and it was to kick him out after he had drunk too much.

Or stolen money to gamble.

Or worse both.

Mother’s wolf rarely revealed itself because it had such a temper.

In irony to how mates were.

Father’s wolf was usually more obedient to mother.

When her wolf growled at his, it became dominant and intimidating over his.

Martha flinched.

Mother slowly retracted, took in a deep breath and her wolf calmed.

“You have no right nor authority to say such awful things about my daughter.” Mother warned. “She is mine to punish as I choose fit. Not yours.”

Martha snarled at mother even though she couldn’t t do much.

She herself was aware she had overstepped her boundaries.

“Does not change the fact that she is a whore.” Martha said arrogantly.

To think that Martha had been so sweet and kind to us.

And how mother had always helped Alice with her illness no matter the situation.

Well, you never really know people did you.

“And so is your daughter.” Mother stated.

“What?” Martha blinked.

“You said my daughter is a whore because she offered herself to the future Alpha. I reckon your daughter is much of a whore as she is. Except mine was chosen while yours wasn’t. That’s worse isn’t it? Offering your body and still not being picked.” Mother replied nastily

I dropped my mouth in disbelief.

I had zero idea mother had such in her.

I watched in real time as Martha’s lips dropped down.

They hung there for a while and I relished in wicked glory.

Martha started to stutter and then she finally found her words.

“You ungrateful bitch! I’m the reason you have this job today! I can have it taken! After everything I’ve done for you!” She spat.

Mother cocked a brow and folded her arms.

“And then you can try your best to take it back. But I doubt you’ll be successful in that.” Mother replied.

I had no idea mother had such sass in her.

She was always so sweet and gentle with people.

“Now I am grateful for all the wonderful things you have done for me, nothing will ever change that however, if you want to speak on the things you’ve done for me, well, Martha I am the reason why your whore is alive. I treated her. Without ever receiving a dime for you. No one in this pack could heal her except for me. Isn’t that a debt of lie.”

Martha was dumbfounded.

She had nothing else to say.

She looked at me and then back at mother.

Her face went red

Surely she had never expected such a reaction.

“If that would be all with all due respect.” Mother said calmly. “Get the fuck out of my quarters!”

Martha was as silent as night time.

Eventually she found her voice.

“You will pay! I will tell everyone what y… you… how…. Ev…il you are. W… wait and see…. See! Thats why everyone thinks your family is strange. You’re forever going to be outsiders in this pack!”

And with her fingers pointed at us while she stumbled through words she stormed out of our quarters.

She slammed the door so hard the room shook.

I turned to mother. “Mother that was so-

A slap so hard I my neck almost cracked landed on my face.

I was instantly shut up.

Mother was looking down at me, her face a mask of thunder.

Her beautiful blue eyes spitting rage and fury.

I swallowed hard.

“Of all the things you could have done Ruby!” Mother snapped. “Of all the wild things you have done already. This is the worst! This is the most despicable.”

“Mother I swear I-

She gave me another slap again.

Mother had never for once in her life raised her hand to me.

Never for once despite all my shenanigans.

Never.

And yet now.

“You think this is a game?!” Mother flared. “You truly think this is a game!”

“Is this how I raised you?! Is it?! You’re so careless and filled with mischief that you lack any sense of future consequences. How is someone coming to call you a whore?! Not just anyone but the future Alpha of the pack! Him!”

“Do you know what it means to be a handmaiden?” She demanded. “You’re the low budget version of a Luna. You’re literally the one he would sleep with and do whatever he wants to. That is what you have chosen to become. I raise you better than this!”

I was lost for words

She shook her head and walked away.

Paced the room a bit.

“Mother I promise you Alice lied to her mother. I don’t want him. I never even… st… stole him from her. He forced me to be his handmaiden.”

“Forget about Alice! You think i care about Alice? Alice is the least of our problems. FineLet’s say you desire him. Did you think about the fact that you have magic?” She asked. “That magic is banned and as a wolf who is even yet to turn, your life is at danger. He will find out and once he does he will kill you. What are you thinking? That he will take you to his family? That he will ask for you to be his Luna? Is that what you think?”

Mother gave a laugh.

A bitter laugh and shook her head. “If you think that then I have failed you. Men like him don’t choose women like us. If you think that he is different.”

Mother shook her head again.

“You’re in for the shock of your life. He will dump you and take the Luna that his family chooses whether he is your mate or not. And after that he will tell everyone that you have magic because he will find out and he will kill all of us. You don’t know what I’m protecting you from. What I’ve been protecting you from your entire life! SCARLETT!”
