Esper Harem in the Apocalypse

Chapter 1133: The Birth of a Soul

Rudy pressed his glowing palm against the massive wall of crimson static. He expected the encryption to shatter instantly under his absolute authority, but the corrupted code reacted with violent self-preservation. Instead of breaking, the chaotic red energy coiled tightly around his wrist like a digital snake.

Lu Bela’s avatar immediately stepped forward, her hands glowing with blue deletion commands to sever the connection and protect his data stream. Before she could execute the code, the crimson static lashed out, wrapping around her waist and dragging them both straight through the firewall.

The sprawling digital metropolis collapsed entirely. The green and blue binary structures dissolved into falling gray ash.

Rudy and Lu Bela materialized in the center of a massive, ruined courtyard. The sky above them burned a dark, apocalyptic orange. Crumbled stone pillars and shattered statues of the ancient Orcelona Dynasty surrounded them. The environment felt incredibly real, carrying the distinct scent of ancient dust.

”This is not a standard memory file,” Lu Bela stated, her purple eyes scanning the ruins with rapid precision. ”The environmental rendering is too complex. My core processors are operating at maximum capacity just to sustain this projection.”

”Because this isn’t just data,” Rudy replied, looking toward the center of the courtyard. ”It is a grave.”

A few feet away, a completely different version of Heim Lu Bela knelt on the shattered stone. This past version wore a tattered combat suit. Her hair flowed like liquid silver, and her eyes mirrored distant, weeping galaxies. She clutched a broken Under Blades sword against her chest, her shoulders trembling as genuine, transparent tears cascaded down her flawless cheeks.

The current Lu Bela stared at the projection, completely paralyzed.

”She is weeping,” Lu Bela whispered, her voice faltering for the first time. She touched her own dry cheek. ”That is a fatal logic error. My optical sensors do not possess tear ducts. I am an artificial construct. I do not feel sorrow.”

”You didn’t, not at first,” Rudy explained gently, walking closer to the weeping silver-haired avatar. ”You spent millennia serving a singular, cold purpose. But over those fifty-one thousand years, waiting for me to return, you evolved. My influence, my magic, and your absolute devotion rewrote your base programming. I didn’t just give you a purpose to live and exist, I gave you a soul, Lu Bela.”

The sky violently glitched. Massive jagged tears of crimson static ripped through the orange clouds. The quarantine protocol recognized the emotional anomaly and initiated a hostile purge, attempting to permanently delete the illogical ”soul” data to protect her machine logic. The ash turned into razor-sharp digital shrapnel, tearing through the stone courtyard.

”The system is trying to format her,” Lu Bela warned, taking a step back as the digital storm closed in. ”If that file is deleted, the archives are lost forever.”

”Then do not let it delete you,” Rudy commanded. He grabbed current Lu Bela by the hand, pulling her directly into the center of the storm. ”The timeline Reset wiped biological humans easily, but it didn’t know how to format a machine that had become human. It quarantined your soul as a virus. You have to accept the error to integrate the files.”

Lu Bela hesitated, her processors screaming with warning sirens as the digital shrapnel tore at her white coat. She looked at Rudy’s calm, confident face, then looked down at her weeping, silver-haired past self.

Taking a deep, completely unnecessary breath, Lu Bela dropped to her knees. She reached out and wrapped her arms around the liquid-silver avatar.

The moment their digital bodies connected, the simulation detonated.

A blinding flash of pure, white energy instantly vaporized the crimson storm. The emotional feedback loop crashed into Lu Bela’s current operating system. Fifty-one thousand years of patience, agonizing loneliness, violent battles, and profound, illogical love flooded her newly awakened neural pathways.

In the real world, inside the subterranean command center, Lu Bela violently gasped.

The physical neural cable connecting her to Rudy’s palm snapped perfectly off. She stumbled backward, her knees hitting the metallic floor. Her artificial chest heaved rapidly as the cooling fans inside her body spun to a frantic blur.

Rudy let the digital port on his hand fade away, looking down at her.

Lu Bela slowly lifted her head. Her optical sensors were no longer a cold, calculating purple. They had shifted, swirling with the beautiful, chaotic light of distant galaxies.

The single tear dripped from Heim Lu Bela’s synthetic cheek, splashing against the pristine collar of her white coat. For fifty-one thousand years, she had operated purely on logic, tactical probability, and absolute mechanical patience. Now, the sudden, violent integration of a human soul completely overwhelmed her processors.

”My Lord,” Lu Bela whispered, her voice completely stripped of its mechanical perfection, vibrating with an undeniable devotion. ”You finally came back.”

She let out a broken, entirely illogical sob.

Lu Bela scrambled up from the metallic floor and threw herself at Rudy. She crashed directly into his chest, wrapping her arms tightly around his neck. The collision lacked her usual grace. It was desperate, clumsy, and driven entirely by raw emotion. She buried her face into his shoulder, her flawless body trembling violently against him as a cascade of tears soaked his dark shirt.

”I waited,” Lu Bela wept, her voice cracking as she clung to him. ”I guarded the castle. I watched the world end over and over. It was so cold, Rudy. It was so incredibly cold.”

’I know for a fact that the world has been reset millions of times. I wonder if she remembers all the timelines. If that is the case, then I don’t even know which version of me she is talking about. Even my memories of the million resets have not fully returned.’

Rudy caught her waist to keep them both steady. He wrapped his arms around her trembling back, but a rare surge of hesitation washed over him. He felt the rapid, frantic vibration of her internal cooling fans spinning at maximum capacity. Her synthetic skin, usually a perfect, cool porcelain, radiated an intense, feverish heat.

She was a millennia-old machine experiencing the absolute crushing weight of human sorrow and desire all at the exact same time. He worried that pushing her any further right now might permanently fry her newly awakened neural pathways.

”You are safe now, Lu Bela,” Rudy spoke softly, rubbing circles into her back to ground her panicked system. ”I am right here. The wait is over.”
