Esper Harem in the Apocalypse

Chapter 248 Letter

”Niti.” Rudy called out to Niti and took a deep breath before asking, ”Is there a… uhh, something I can write on? Like paper or cloth?”

”Yes,” Niti nodded in response.

”Nice. Can you hand me some paper and a pen? A pen is a tool used for—”

”I know what ʼpenʼ means,” Niti interjected. ”They exist here too.”

”Oh, I see. And here, I assumed everything was magic here. Like they swing their finger in the air, and it gets written on the paper,” he scoffed softly at his own joke.

Niti walked to a small table in the corner of the room— which looked out of place and didnʼt suit the room at all. She opened a drawer and grabbed a diary, which looked ancient, and there were golden sigils carved on the red, fluffy leather cover.

ʼI donʼt want to know what itʼs made up of.ʼ

Then, Niti opened the second drawer and took out a Quill pen, which was laced with gold just like the diary, but the feather used was black over a cyan-colored gradient, which was glimmering, and its dust fell as it moved.

ʼNow thatʼs something I want to know what itʼs made up of. I might even take one back to the human world.ʼ

Niti placed the Quill inside the diary and handed it to Rudy, or she was going to, but she pulled her hand back and squinted her eyes at Rudy.

”What?” Rudy asked with a confused look on his face.

”I canʼt show you the contents of the diary, so…” Niti ripped a blank page out of the diary and gave it to Rudy with a Quill on it.

”Was it okay to rip the page like that? The diary looks luxurious and important.”

”Yeah, itʼs not a problem.” Niti showed him the diary from where she had just ripped the page and said, ”The page will automatically grow back.”

”....”

Rudy gave her a weird stare and walked to the chair near the vanity table to write comfortably.

Niti resumed her work, but she soon recalled something and turned out to tell Rudy:

”The Quill doesnʼt work on ink. It uses magic to write. You are a human, so you canʼt use it. Let me write it for you if you donʼt—!”

She bit her tongue in shock after seeing Rudy had already started writing and the Quill was working.

”Hmm?” Rudy glanced at Niti with an oblivious look on his face and asked, ”Itʼs working for me.”

”I see…”

Rudy took a deep breath and resumed writing the letter.

ʼWho should I write it to?ʼ He wondered. ʼI can write it to three people; mom, Alice, or Reina. I can write it to Eric too, and he is the most responsible person, but I will have to tell him everything, and it will; get complicated.ʼ

ʼCome to think of it, should I tell Eric about my powers? He has done so many things for me even in this life and my past life too. He is like my brother, and I do feel guilty hiding things from him. But… itʼs not about that. To hide everything from him, I need to lie to him. And to hide the lie, I need to lie more. I canʼt keep doing that.ʼ

ʼWait… now is not the time to think about all that. Letʼs focus on the letter first.ʼ

After pondering for a while, Rudy decided not to write the letter to Rebecca. According to him, Alice and Reina were the only ones who knew about his powers, so they should be the obvious choice.

But he dismissed Reina, too, as he didnʼt want to trouble her unnecessarily. She had her own business to run. And decided to write a letter to Alice.

[Dear Alice, I donʼt know if this letter got to you or not, but if it did, please go somewhere alone to read it.

As you might have noticed, I didnʼt come to pick you up at school, and I am absent too. But there is a reason for that, which I am going to explain in simple words.

I am out of town for two weeks but donʼt worry, I am completely fine. You already know I am strong, and no one can harm me, so please donʼt worry about me.

I am writing this letter to let you know about my status.

Also, can you please inform mom about this? Tell her not to worry, and I will be back. If possible, please visit her daily after school to make sure she is doing alright, or at least phone call her if you are busy.

I also want you to inform Reina about this. She must be expecting me there, but unfortunately, I have something else to do. Tell her that I will take care of anything, and I will be back in two weeks.

She must have also been trying to call me, but my phone had been destroyed.

I would have given you her number so you could call her and inform her without visiting her. But I have no way to know that this letter truly got delivered to you. I donʼt want it to get into the wrong hands, although I donʼt think it matters much.

However, I donʼt want to take any risks. So next weekend, when you are free, please visit her. Or perhaps, you can simply get her contact information from the website.

Thatʼs all I have to say for now. I will tell you everything in detail once I come back.

Thank you, and sorry for troubling you. Donʼt forget that I love you girls and I miss you all the time.

Yours truly, Harem Lord.]

Rudy folded the letter and plucked his hair to use it as a thread to tie it.

He held the folded letter in his hand and closed his eyes before taking a deep breath.

ʼTeleport!ʼ

He opened one eye a few seconds later and then opened the other one after confirming the letter had disappeared.

”I hope it reached her…” he sighed in worry.
