Lord of the Truth

Chapter 1769 The evolution of the battles in the South - 2

Unlike the forces of Marshal Tharn and Marshal Livia, who continue to retreat and never set foot on solid ground before the overwhelming march of Lord Zarion... Marshal fargos chose not to allow the same mistake to repeat on this front as well.

If he allowed them to destroy or occupy planets one after another until they reached the capital, Shather, then this would turn into a fully functional frontline, equal in strength to the one Lord Zarion commands.

So they must be stopped before they begin-stopped utterly, decisively, and without hesitation.

The forces of the Millennial Empire of Crumbled Dreams proved their existence, even though the enemy held an overwhelming advantage-at least five times their numbers.

Yet despite this crushing imbalance, they did not allow a single planet to fall. Not only that... the troops deployed from the strange Note Fleet achieved far

more-

They succeeded in reclaiming territory once thought permanently lost, driving the enemy off multiple planets over the span of years!

But soon enough, the Rotational Retreat strategy was uncovered-every concealed maneuver, every hidden schedule, every encrypted replacement. Nothing remained secret-not when such a battlefield was the meeting point of some of the most terrifying and brilliant military minds in the known sectors.

A gathering of Marshals from Centennial and Millennial Empires...

A place where the infamous Bornotur himself served, the one assigned by a Behemoth Galaxy!

And as before... the army stopped gaining victories.

Now the enemy only defended for a few hours-enduring every kind of assault, absorbing catastrophic casualties-until replacement time arrived... and then their counterattack struck like a tidal wave with mathematical precision. Because of that, Alexander was forced into a long-term defensive stance. For more than a year now, Alexander has been unable to push a single enemy off a single planet-

He has not even managed to advance one step beyond the hastily constructed fortifications he established: bastions, trenches, automated bunkers, and layered shield domes designed only to make soldier rotation barely manageable rather than sustainable.

And despite the fact that just two years ago-seven years after receiving the first reinforcements-another reinforcement fleet of ten additional Note Fleets was sent to him, raising his total to thirty, increasing his deployed army to nearly three million soldiers across multiple planets and orbital battle grids... the situation did not improve much.

Ground forces remained locked in rigid defensive formation, while the war fleets engaged in scattered, chaotic skirmishes between planets-fleeting clashes with no decisive result, mere sparks in the void rather than true flames of war.

And Alexander was not the only one consumed by frustration...

After nearly nine years of relentless ground warfare, the numerical advantage finally began to show-Marshal Fargos started losing planets, slowly at first... then faster.

Meanwhile, the war fleets were still exchanging fire across the endless vacuum of space...

Alongside the World Cataclysms and the Nexus States, who hunted one another across planets, orbital stations, wormhole corridors and beyond, leaving trails of devastation that reshaped landscapes and atmospheres alike...

The ground battles were losing-on a colossal scale.

There was no solution.

No breakthrough.

No shift.

Only a stalemate that bled both sides dry.

And no one expected reinforcements anymore...

The other front was in no better condition-a storm of war consuming everything.

Then, without warning...

A new Guardian arrived beside Lord Zarion.

...After Lord Zarion had been advancing cautiously from the west so he could avoid heavy losses caused by the daily assaults on his side, he suddenly decided to divide the colossal allied fleet into two-between himself and the newly arrived Guardian-and both of them began advancing toward Planet Shather independently!

This greatly accelerated the pace of progression, and within only a few years he had ravaged half of Lord Hedrickʼs Empire and they had already reached Planet Shather... but a planetary dispacment artifact was used for the first time in its entire history to rescue it from annihilation.

Of course, this was a massive emotional blow to Hedrick and his forces, something that shook honor itself, something that made him move immediately to Zarionʼs front so he could participate personally in stopping their advance. His personal attendant Heigra and his companion, the Royal Soul Master Drayce, appeared themselves as well.

Yes... Lord Hedrick was no longer stationed in the south.

As for Scorvian? He is still hiding. No one knows when he will appear.

Marshal Fargos reassured his soldiers, saying that if Scorvian appeared again, Lord Hedrick would use a space portal to arrive instantly.

But that wasnʼt enough... morale collapsed on the southern front as well.

”...” Alexander looked around helplessly, with a hint of frustration and even anger.

Even though the planets entrusted to him remained standing with no sign he would lose any of them today, the feeling of being powerless-being unable to completely wipe out his enemies-made his chest burn with frustration.

He hated admitting it, hated saying it from the depths of his heart, but... if the Second Army or the Third Army were here, they would have crushed those vermin without any effort!

”We can only blame our humble origin.” Alexander looked toward the sky while murmuring under his breath, closing his eyes for a brief moment.

Now he and all the senior officers of the First Army-very likely including Marshal Caesar himself-had begun waiting for the day His Majesty would dismantle the human army entirely... or step one step back from his ideals and provide them beast blood so they could shift into the second cultivation path.

But he could not simply wait for the inevitable without fighting. ”Deploy the special units!!” Alexander shouted with a desperate tone.

He had already used the special forces only one hour ago to break the enemyʼs momentum-surely they were still exhausted now.

Summoning them again now meant many of them would die without any doubt, not less than fifty... but he had to do it regardless.

At this level of military strategy he was dealing with, only raw power could

accomplish anything.

Otherwise, with the glaring weak point inside the First Army, he would not have lasted here months-let alone years.

”I will not lose a single planet even if itʼs the last day of my life!!” Alexander roared, then drew his flaming bow once again, and fired.
