Hero of Darkness

Chapter 1182: Hidden Name

Kahn then carried the small statue with him back to the surface while Morrigan and Argos followed quietly. For some reason, the vampire king turned silent, not engaging in any kind of talks with Jeoseung Saja as if he was trying to avoid further conversation.

Morrigan, the High Priestess of the Cult of Darkborne, was stealing glances at the statue, with vehement countenance and eyes filled with respect.

”What do we have here?” asked the envoy of death as soon as they reached the Tablet of Arcana and saw Vildred standing on guard.

”A Royal Dragon and the soul of the former Peak Saint tied to one of the relics of demi-gods?

You have quite the friend circle here, boy.” he said nonchalantly.

”This one... I don’t know how he made it. But he definitely had help from various species while forging it.” said jeoseung saja.

”You know about the Tablet of Arcana?” asked Kahn, slightly baffled.

”Yes. It was left by one of the deities that serve the God of Time himself. But if I remember correctly... he no longer exists.” revealed the envoy.

”What?! A deity can die?” asked Kahn, his expression filled with bewilderment.

”No, not death. He has been removed from the existence and the history of the world itself.

You need the transcendental power of a god to truly remove someone from the existence of Vantrea. So that they may never be born again even after billions of years, or even in a different world created by vantrea.

But when it happens, the world itself forgets about their existence.

Pretty sure not even God of Time remembers their name or appearance. Just that they once existed.” elaborated the envoy of death.

”So there is death beyond death?” asked Kahn curiously.

”Yes. The only being who has also achieved this ’true death’ while retaining their memories, powers and existence is none other than God of Darkness himself.” revealed jeoseung saja.

”What?! He is truly dead but also still exists?” asked Kahn, shocked beyond belief.

”Why are you so surprised? Let me ask you this then...

What is the name of the God of Darkness?” asked the Envoy of Death.

”I... I do not know. He never told me, and until now, I never found it since most of the empires I’ve been to chose to erase his history.” iterated Kahn.

”The young succubus girl is the High Priestess of none other than the Cult of Darkborne, his official religious institution. Ask her.” said the seojeung saja playfully.

Kahn then looked around, and his eyes locked with Morrigan, expecting an answer.

”Ummm.... I don’t know. All the records about the name of God of Darkness suddenly vanished right after the events of 300 years ago.

Even those who knew it before have forgotten it. Not just the living but even recorded footage stored using magical artifacts had it erased from them.

The books that used to contain our mighty god’s name also have that information retconed and the subject changed.

From what I know, even the high priestesses during that era also forgot it one day.” explained Morrigan.

It was then, the envoy of death spoke with a mischievous tone...

”Not just the mortals... I can bet my immortal life when I say this; even the Gods and Goddesses don’t remember his name anymore.

And that includes the God of Time and God of Space as well.” stated the envoy of death proudly.

”If so, why care so much about not revealing his name to the world even after so long?” asked Kahn.

”It is simple... the other gods and goddesses joined hands together after what happened with the 8th Hero of Darkness. Some did it out of rage, and some did it unwillingly.

They destroyed the empire that served him and made things difficult for your summoning.

So afterward, he chose to erase his name from the world. Just to remind others what he is capable of.

To gods, this power is unfathomable; not because only he can do it... But it is a detrimental reminder... that he could do it to them as well.” revealed the small statue gleefully.

At this moment, the envoy of death was just flexing how badass and powerful his boss was to these newbies.

”So you mean to say that God of Darkness is the only one who can truly kill other Gods?” asked Kahn, stunned on the spot.

”Yes, of course. But it won’t come without a price. Also, he wishes to preserve the balance of the world just like the God of Life and the God of Nature.

And the day he will choose to reveal his name again to the world... will be the day of his rise again in the hearts of all the living beings of Vantrea.

Think about it, similar to making a grand and soul-stirring entrance.” said the envoy with an ecstatic tone.

Kahn was both perplexed and a bit terrified by the thought of it.

If all the living beings suddenly remembered the God of Darkness’ name at the same time... imagine what great hysteria it would cause all over the world.

That is a kind of impact not even most gods could make with their powers.

”It feels as if he planned for the day it happens. Must also be prepared for a historical event that could happen soon.” said Kahn.

”You’re right. He will make a grand entrance that some will rejoice but many will dread for the rest of their lives. Haha ha!” said the seojeung saja with a sinister tone.

******************

After the workaholic deity spouted out a few more facts and revelations, Kahn’s solo journey resumed.

However, this time, there were no misdirections or any unwanted interactions for some reason.

Forget the Godbeasts, Kahn hadn’t even come across a Lord Rank monster as he flew in the real world since the statue couldn’t be taken inside the true dimension, as it was possessed by Jeoseung Saja from a completely different realm.

Yet, no odd encounters happened as Kahn flew at this max speed naturally while taking a detailed view of the scenic landscape of the remnant Abyss Empire.

Finally, he could sense a very familiar but also nerve-wracking aura coming from over 70 kilometers away.

How was he familiar with it? Because he died to it thousands of times after he was summoned inside the World Boundary.

As Elric, he had given the legendary ’Fuck Off!’ to the God of Darkness. And to reprimand him, the god had killed him thousands of times in mere seconds just to make him humble.

So obviously Kahn would remember the aura very well.

And soon, he saw the world around him changing.

Rumble!

Crackle!

The whole environment was turned bitch-black. Whether it was the clouds or the desolate land... everything was just leaking the malicious aura of death and darkness all around.

The area was filled with thunderous blue lightnings and black storms rampaging the region endlessly.

”This is the area even a Godbeast wouldn’t dare enter. It was wise to leave your allies in the Tablet of Arcana.

Even that Royal Dragon wouldn’t survive this land of death.” spoke the envoy.

”We can travel here freely because of my identity and your position as the Hero of Darkness. Anyone else, even if they possess the Darkness element, would instantly die just by coming close to the border.” he reiterated firmly.

Kahn could tell that jeoseung saja wasn’t lying. This wasn’t just mere darkness... it was death manifested in the real world.

Forget living beings; even souls wouldn’t survive in this land of death.

Soon, another monumental construct came into his sight.

”Is this what remains of the capital of the Abyss Empire?” asked Kahn.

There was nothing but destroyed landscape, not even a single building remaining as a remnant of the old Abyss Empire.

”Yes. It was done to protect the Abyssal Altar of Darkness. So that no one dares to enter and destroy the only way to awaken your divine key.

Extreme but necessary measure.” explained the statue.

Rumble!

Finally, after a few minutes, Kahn reached the centre of the capital, and what lay before him was a massive 2-kilometer-tall tower, enshrouded in darkness and death while surrounded by multiple rampaging storms that would shred anyone who dared go forward.

However, Kahn neither felt fear nor concern. Because darkness was his true element.

It couldn’t hurt him and might as well empower him. So he easily flew away and then stepped onto a long and large platform extending from the top of the tower.

”Good. Now let me begin the rites.” said the envoy, and soon started chanting.

”Elbtaar Nos Imprtuus!

Neba Kiraga Ponnmakos!

Los Pollos Hermanos!” shouted the envoy of death grandly.

Crackle!

Tremble!

The entire tower shook and trembled as an ancient mechanism started activating.

At the very centre of the top of the tower, dozens of massive podiums arose, channeling their energy and giving rise to a new entity.

Flutter!

BOOM!!

An ear-deafening explosion shook the surrounding 50-kilometer radius. Kahn was left untouched only because of his complete affinity to darkness.

And finally, out of a dark blue ethereal fire...

A gigantic eye with a slanted vertical iris came to be.

”This is the true form of Abyssal Altar...” said Jeoseung Saja as he proclaimed with joy.

”The Eye of Eternal Death.”
