Chapter 853: Gremlin Anthem

Luna planted her Stormblade against the square and breathed.

A1. Row 1. The finish line, and she was standing on it with blood on her blade and a grin splitting her face wide enough to crack the dried blood on her cheeks.

Then she looked back.

Nyx lay on the board behind her at C4, one hand pressed against the wound in her side where the Stalker’s blade had carved through, blood pooled beneath her in a dark spread that had grown far too large while Luna was sprinting.

Her pink eyes were half-lidded and her breathing came shallow, but she was smiling at Luna with the same calm warmth she’d worn when she shoved her sideways and took the blade herself.

She’d made it to the end. Barely.

The Kaiju screamed.

A guttural, animalistic shriek tore from the creature’s chest, stripped of every trace of the tactical intelligence it had shown throughout the match. Six burning eyes locked onto Luna through the dimensional barrier.

The creature’s claws shredded the ground behind its board in gouges deep enough to swallow a person whole, its massive body thrashing against nothing as the sound kept pouring out of it, raw and broken.

Luna looked up at it.

”Oi.” She wiped blood from her mouth with the back of her hand and tilted her head. ”Quit the baby rage already. You’re embarrassing yourself.”

[Match Concluded.]

[Defender Piece has reached Row 1.]

[Victor: Kaiden Grey.]

[All active clashes: TERMINATED. All champions: RESTORED.]

The notifications rolled across the dimension in golden script, final and absolute.

The stream, viewed by nearly a hundred million people by now, exploded.

The board collapsed, white walls dissolving into nothing as every active clash terminated at once.

The girls materialized around Kaiden’s chair in a cascade of golden light, wounds sealed, blood vanished, torn robes mended.

The match restored them wholesale, every injury from every arena erased as if the violence had been a dream the dimension no longer cared to remember.

Vespera appeared at Kaiden’s left with her shadow lattice already fading, unmarked. Bastet landed beside her barefoot and unbloodied, ears flicking once as she took in the open air. Aria’s torn robes were whole, the gash across her stomach gone without a trace.

Scarlet materialized mid-swing.

Her fist connected with nothing, the Shade’s arena gone between one heartbeat and the next, and the Flame Monarch stumbled forward into empty space with fire still roaring up both arms and murder across her face.

”WHAT?!” She spun, searching for the creature that had been right in front of her. ”WHERE DID IT GO?! I WASN’T DONE!” Her flames surged higher as she pointed at the space where the arena had been. ”I JUST GOT OUT OF THAT CAGE! I HAVEN’T HIT ANYTHING YET! BRING IT BACK!”

Nyx looked down at herself with genuine surprise, pressing both hands flat against her side where the wound had been moments ago.

Smooth skin beneath her fingers, no blood, no pain, not even a scar where the Stalker’s blade had nearly ended her.

”Huh.” She blinked. ”I genuinely expected to need healing at minimum. This game is pretty generous.”

*Swish!*

Luna crossed the distance in a single, lightning-quick stride and pulled Nyx into a hug so tight the taller girl’s feet shifted backward from the impact.

Her arms locked around Nyx’s waist and her face pressed into the curve of her collarbone, every trace of brat stripped from the gesture. Just a small girl holding on hard.

Nyx’s pink eyes went wide, her hands hovering in the air on either side of Luna without touching her, visibly unsure what to do with this version of the gremlin.

”You dumbass,” Luna said into her collarbone, voice rough at the edges.

Nyx’s surprise softened into warmth, and she wrapped both arms around Luna’s small frame. ”At this rate, we really can’t stop the fanarts.”

Luna’s head snapped up. ”If you want to be dommed so hard by a woman then just SAY so!”

The Storm Valkyrie was ready to shove a second dildo up this bitch’s ass if she kept acting up like this.

”What?” Nyx tilted her head with exaggerated innocence. ”I only want to be dommed by Kai.”

”Then WHY do you keep going on and on about lewd fanarts of the two of us?!”

Nyx’s expression went flat, as if she’d seen things no girl her age should.

”Because I’m a realist, gremlin bestie.”

Luna shoved herself out of Nyx’s arms with a scoff so violent it could’ve peeled paint, refusing to look at her, ears burning with something she would take to her grave before admitting to.

Her eyes found Kaiden instead.

He was grinning at her.

The helpless, enormous smile of someone who’d just watched a weight the size of a mountain lift off his own chest, relief so visible it sat on his face like sunlight.

Alice perched in his lap with her arms folded, a smug look aimed directly at Luna that said she’d been watching the whole exchange and had formed strong opinions about it.

Then Kaiden set Alice gently to the side and stood.

”What?!” The smugness on Alice’s face vanished as if it had never existed.

She watched him walk away from her with wide blue eyes and folded her hands in her lap.

He walked toward his girls, and the tightness that had been sitting behind his sternum for the entire match finally let go.

They were whole. Every single one of them, whole and breathing and looking at him with eyes that held no pain left.

’We won.’

The thought hit him softer than expected, less like triumph and more like permission to stop clenching.

Aria reached him first because she was already drifting toward him the moment he stood, and the instant his hand found her cheek she melted into his palm with a sound so soft it barely carried.

The steadfast executioner vanished the instant his skin met hers, and what remained was just a woman leaning into the only touch she’d wanted for twenty minutes straight.

”My beautiful moon.” His thumb traced along her jaw. ”You were incredible.”

”Mm.” Her whole body pressed toward him, and that single sound held more than any sentence could have managed.

Luna was three steps to his left, arms folded, pointedly looking at literally anything else, her whole body broadcasting a message of supreme indifference that was ruined entirely by the pink spreading across her ears.

Kaiden’s hand left Aria’s cheek (she made a quiet, betrayed sound) and cupped the side of Luna’s face before the gremlin could decide whether to run or stay.

She went rigid for half a breath, then the fight left her posture all at once. Her eyes dropped. Her shoulders loosened. She didn’t pull away or curse or challenge him.

”Phenomenal work out there,” he said softly.

”...Thanks.” So quiet it could have come from a different girl entirely. She wasn’t satisfied with the price this victory demanded.

He didn’t get to enjoy it long, because Nyx was already in the air.
