Brother Dao Took the Entertainment Industry by Storm, Fans Beg Me Not to Kill Anymore

Chapter 212: Sea Fog Pursuit Finale

The incident where Mo Tun almost became the ”spokesperson” for the fruit was just a minor episode during the broadcast of Sea Fog Pursuit, and actually not many people noticed it.

Liu Rulan also didnʼt want Xiao He to be associated with this thing through search terms, to avoid similar situations recurring later, so this matter wasnʼt widely spread. The entire process was handled very low-key, until they successfully won the lawsuit and received compensation money—even outsiders and fans didnʼt know much about it.

Instead, the production team took the opportunity of video promotion to talk about the dangers of the fruit, collaborating with several official Douyin accounts, having Xiao Heʼs side forward the messages to express his stance, uphold positive energy, and improve his public image and influence.

As for the portrait infringement issues involving Xiao He on various shopping platforms, the platforms finally took it seriously, strengthened control, and didnʼt cause Liu Rulan any more trouble.

As for the coconut juice advertisement Xiao He took on, it was successfully released riding on the heat of Sea Fog Pursuit.

In the visuals, Mo Tun leaned against the shipʼs bow, tilting his head back to drink coconut juice, his brow slightly raised, his gaze sharp—relying on his outstanding rogue-handsome looks to successfully capture the audience market, receiving great praise from viewers and achieving good sales results.

Sea Fog Pursuit thus continued its successful run, smoothly broadcasting all the way to the finale.

Since being bound to those smuggling teams, the protagonist Mu Wen had long imagined countless times in his heart that he might die one day on some escape route, or see something he shouldnʼt have seen, then be brutally silenced.

But ultimately, Mu Wen successfully survived.

The person Mu Wen was most grateful to was his uncle Ji Baili. Even though his parents and aunt had died in a car accident years ago, and he previously had no deeper relationship with his uncle Ji Baili, Ji Baili still cared for him protectively, even helping him multiple times, which eventually attracted Mo Tunʼs murderous intent.
Even later when Mu Wen was approached by the police and decided to become a tainted witness after their persuasion, Ji Baili was the first to discover it and silently helped conceal his tracks.

At that time, Mo Tunʼs gun was already pressed against Mu Wenʼs head, constantly interrogating whether Mu Wen had tipped off the police during his bathroom break, prepared to rather kill wrongly than let escape—but Ji Baili appeared in time and provided false testimony for Mu Wen.

Even after learning about Mu Wenʼs choice, Ji Baili wasnʼt angry at all. He just sat on the dilapidated pier under the moonlight, leisurely smoking a cigarette, tilting his head back to slowly exhale smoke, his expression complex and profound, finally telling Mu Wen: ”Do what you want to do. My life was originally given by your Mu family. Even if I repay it this time, I have nothing to say.”

The times had long changed, and Ji Baili could actually see that this business couldnʼt last much longer.

The authorities above had already turned their attention here, the surrounding situation was becoming increasingly severe—if they didnʼt make other adaptive measures, given the thunderous methods from above, they would eventually pay the price.

Ji Baili himself didnʼt care, but he feared the Mu family bloodline would end with him.

So after learning about Mu Wenʼs choice, Ji Baili was actually quite relieved.

He was already like this, but at least Mu Wen still had a chance.

”Uncle—”

Mu Wenʼs voice was hoarse as he looked at the man before him with very complicated feelings.

”Donʼt say anything.”

Ji Baili extinguished his cigarette, patted Mu Wenʼs shoulder, his face full of determination, then stood up and walked away from the pier.

In the final two episodes, Ji Baili indeed fulfilled his promise—to save Mu Wen, he was beaten to death by his own associates.

Having lost his backing, Mu Wen could only rely on himself to move forward.

Remembering the Mu Wen from the beginning—just a freshly graduated college student who knew nothing, understood nothing, with laughably naive thinking—the current Mu Wen had rapidly transformed, gradually carrying traces of Ji Bailiʼs shadow.

He began using all available resources around him to climb up, through some connections left by Ji Baili, step by step entering the smuggling organizationʼs inner circle, coordinating with the police from inside, finally successfully capturing a large number of people and uncovering the smuggling groupʼs mysterious protector.

In the end, most of the smuggling gang members were arrested, Mo Tun was shot dead while escaping, the protector was exposed, the final batch of smuggled national treasures was recovered. Although Mu Wen was also sentenced, considering he was forced into service, hadnʼt taken any lives, and served as a tainted witness, making great contributions to the police dismantling this smuggling case, Mu Wen only received a three-year sentence.

Most others in the gang got ten years or more, or life sentences, while those under Mo Tunʼs command mostly received death penalties.

Hearing this judgment, Mu Wen breathed a long sigh of relief.

Since participating in these crimes, he hadnʼt slept peacefully for a single day.

It was like the Sword of Damocles hanging over his head—he understood very well in his heart that this day would eventually come.

He just couldnʼt predict when that sword representing justice would suddenly fall.

Now, everything was over, and he could finally sleep peacefully.

On the day the judgment was delivered, Mu Wen asked the police officer who knew him for two cigarettes.

This officer was the one who previously collaborated with Mu Wen to dismantle the criminal organization and understood Mu Wenʼs situation, so when Mu Wen made this request, he unhesitatingly took out his cigarettes and handed them to Mu Wen.

Mu Wen thanked him, his hands shaking as he lit the two cigarettes—one placed on the edge of the table before him, the other held between his handcuffed fingers, slowly brought to his lips.

The officer had quietly left the room at some point.

In the somewhat dim room, only Mu Wen sitting in the interrogation chair and the burning cigarette before him remained.

The cigarette smoke rose faintly, and just as the sunlight outside shone in, it passed through the narrow iron bars and fell on the opposite wall through those drifting wisps of smoke.

Mu Wen squinted, staring unblinkingly at the white-painted wall illuminated by the light, suddenly sniffed, a tear sliding down his cheek.

In the end, he didnʼt say a word, his back quite hunched, his face scruffy with beard, looking very weathered.

After staring at the wall for who knows how long, he reached out with both hands to tap the ash from the burning cigarette on the table before him, then took another drag from the cigarette between his fingers, slowly tilting his head back, exhaling smoke toward the incoming light—

Thus, all the plot of Sea Fog Pursuit concluded, this story completely drawing to a close.

Outside the drama, Sea Fog Pursuit started low but soared wildly, with effective performances from the entire cast, becoming the most explosive television drama of that winter break season—no exceptions!

Actually, there are very few dramas nowadays that can truly be considered massively explosive.

Many so-called ”hit dramas” praised by fans are mostly just traffic dramas—meaning the leads themselves are traffic stars with high popularity and many topics. At launch, just the traffic from the male and female leads can create a traffic ”hit drama,” fundamentally unrelated to the script or other actorsʼ efforts, because itʼs all fan traffic—no matter how they act, their fans will watch.

What can truly be considered a hit generally means the entire cast levels up, everyone gets their share, attracting not just fans but also other casual viewers, even newcomers who previously didnʼt watch dramas. Any famous scene, line, or meme from it can spread everywhere online—even minor characters with just minutes of screen time get their own nicknames and memes. Thatʼs a true hit.

With Sea Fog Pursuit, not just Su Ji who played the protagonist Mu Wen and several other important supporting roles—even a villain like Xiao He who only appeared in a few scenes got the nickname ”Dentist Brother” and related meme images.

Though when Xiao He saw these memes, he really had to admire these netizensʼ creativity.

But Xiao He was also quite grateful to these netizens—through everyoneʼs relentless efforts, Xiao He finally earned back the points he used during the car accident. Now holding multiple safety nets again, he felt completely unpanicked.
