Becoming Their Guiding Spirit

# Chapter 335: The Final Match~ The Whislash Knight’s major upset was certainly big news in Kazimierz.

The Whislash Knight was quite famous throughout Kazimierz.

A titled knight in the top ten of the official Knight Major rankings, a Pegasian with a charming face and a sexy figure—she really hit the spot for many Kazimierzans’ *XP*. In addition, although she hadn’t achieved any outstanding results in the main Knight Major tournament, her performance in the spring and summer seasonal matches over the past two years was genuinely strong. Therefore, the Whislash Knight had a considerable number of fans.

”Mr. Reeve! Miss Whislash Knight actually lost!!”

Sona was completely astonished after watching the afternoon match in her dorm at Raythean Industries.

The Whislash Knight’s strength was actually quite good.

As a top-ten knight, her strength was at the level of the top eight even in the main tournament. And a top-eight knight was actually defeated so easily in just a few moves by this unknown opponent. Moreover, this opponent, who was supposedly skilled with a bow, didn’t even use one. They defeated the Whislash Knight using only an arrow. Their strength was truly terrifying.

Honestly.

Even a champion knight couldn’t compare to that level of strength. It was a bit frightening...

Of course.

This terror was relative to ordinary people. Anyway, in Lucas Reeve’s eyes, there was no difference from an ordinary person. To be honest, anyone from Jessica’s villa could have pinned that knight to the ground and beaten them.

”Average. A little bit of skill.”

Lucas Reeve wasn’t very interested. He only cared about when he could obtain more Prayer Power.

When Sona saw Lucas Reeve’s completely uninterested expression, she felt a sense of relief.

As expected of Mr. Reeve. He didn’t even bat an eye at such a powerful knight.

Moreover.

Sona knew that Lucas Reeve was currently in a soul state, and if he wanted to make a move, he needed to borrow her body. And her body definitely couldn’t unleash Mr. Reeve’s full power. If he possessed such immense power just by borrowing her ’weak’ body, how strong must Mr. Reeve’s full strength be?

Sona didn’t dare to imagine it.

She felt it would transcend her cognition, that it was fundamentally unimaginable. Or rather, Lucas Reeve’s very existence had completely shattered Sona’s understanding of the world.

A spirit body?!

So, souls really existed in this world, and one lived inside her necklace.

”Mr. Reeve, I’ve always wanted to ask... are you really a god?”

Lucas Reeve was stunned for a moment by Sona’s abrupt question. He smiled and explained: ”According to the standards humans have set for the title of ’god,’ I do indeed count as a god. After all... humans can’t live in this form, right?”

Sona nodded. ”That’s true.”

”Then... Mr. Reeve, isn’t your original body’s strength incredibly, incredibly strong?”

”Uh... in this world, even I don’t know exactly how strong I am.”

Lucas Reeve said: ”You’ve seen it, Sona. I don’t have a physical body. I live on this land as a spirit.”

”And my power is, to some extent, related to the strength of the body I borrow. The stronger the body I borrow, the stronger the power I can wield. For example, if the body I borrow belongs to some out-of-shape otaku who gasps for air just from walking, my combat power might become very, very low.”

”Anyway, I know quite a few friends who are on the same level as me. How should I put it... they could easily destroy this Mobile City. The most powerful one I know could destroy all of Kazimierz with ease. Even Yan would have to deploy seventy percent of its military force to suppress one. A single breath could cause a Mobile City to fall.”

Lucas Reeve spoke very casually, as if he were recounting some mundane, everyday event. But Sona was completely frozen.

Easily destroy Kazimierz?!! One city per breath....

Unimaginable.

Completely unimaginable.

How could such an absurd creature exist in this world? Is this what a god is?!!

Sona felt like her little brain was about to shut down; it just couldn’t process it. She had lived in Kazimierz since she was a child, hadn’t had much schooling, and hadn’t been to many places. In her eyes, this Mobile City was already an unattainable behemoth, to say nothing of the entire nation of Kazimierz. And yet... there was a creature that could destroy Kazimierz...

Since Mr. Reeve knew these creatures, and was friends with some of them, it meant that if Mr. Reeve had his own body, he was very likely just as absurd. Let alone the Chamber of Commerce, Mr. Reeve probably didn’t even take the entirety of Kazimierz seriously.

No wonder he could so easily one-shot people far, far stronger than her just by using her body. Their very level of existence was completely different. It would be hard *not* to win instantly.

Lucas Reeve floated out and patted Sona on the shoulder.

”So, train hard.”

”Yes!!”

According to the contract signed with Raythean Industries, every win would be rewarded with two million. Since signing, she had already won two matches, so she had four million in prize money.

There were still five days of rest before the finals.

So Sona and her good friend Justyna went directly to the factories to purchase a large pile of supplies, such as cotton-padded clothes...

Cotton-padded clothes were dirt cheap in the summer. In reality, these clothes were leftovers from last winter. Plus, there were indeed many people who liked to buy things off-season, since the prices would be much, much cheaper. So, Sona bought up all the remaining cotton-padded clothes from several clothing factories in one go and went to the slums to distribute them to the Infected.

Although winter had just passed and it would be more than half a year before they needed cotton-padded clothes again, it was better to have them stored at home than to have nothing.

These Infected were extremely moved by Sona’s generosity. Furthermore, under Sona’s careful explanation, they also learned that there was a major figure behind Sona who specifically cared about the Infected. This feeling of being seen, of being cared for, moved many of the Infected to tears. Before leaving, Lucas Reeve harvested about forty thousand more Prayer Power. Very nice.

In just a few days, he had already gathered close to one hundred thousand, and these Infected were only from one Mobile City. The Grand Knight Territory had even more Infected.

Although Lucas Reeve would also be fighting in the final match, Sona still trained hard every day, every moment. She hoped that one day she would become strong, strong enough to stand on her own. Although after learning Lucas Reeve’s true identity, Sona knew that no matter how hard she tried, she could never be as strong as Lucas Reeve. After all, humans have their limits.

But Sona wanted even more to use her own full strength, to win the Knight Major championship relying solely on her own power. In the past, Sona wouldn’t have dared to even dream of it. But now, Sona felt that with someone as powerful as Mr. Reeve personally guiding her, even teaching her extremely powerful sword moves and using his abilities to improve her physical fitness, if she still couldn’t win the Knight Major championship even after all this, then she would be letting down all of Mr. Reeve’s long-term nurturing.

The brand new Oripathy mitigation drug, [Purification] 1.0, had already entered full mass production at Raythean Medica. The first batch produced was, as usual, shipped to the Reunion Movement and Chernobog. The second batch would be sent to Kazimierz. The rest would be sold to various parts of the world.

However, the officials in many places did not allow this drug to be marketed in their countries. Otherwise, it wouldn’t be the case that so many Infected had no idea this drug was even for sale. The steps to get a drug officially listed in a country were quite complex. Some countries, according to their laws, even required the specific ingredients of the drug, which was tantamount to revealing every detail of the drug’s production. Although it didn’t matter for this drug, since the core energy within it could only be condensed by Lucas Reeve, for many other pharmaceutical manufacturers, this kind of law was a major headache.

Achieving a true launch in all nations was a long-term process, one that required the external relations team to constantly negotiate.

As for Raythean Industries, ever since obtaining the D33 Steel provided by Lucas Reeve, they seemed to have suddenly become much more low-key. This was normal. How could they let outsiders know about such a cross-generational product? Only when they had fully mastered the technology and had already begun developing the next generation would they officially announce the previous one.

————————

Five days later.

Early in the morning, the sound of ceremonial cannons already echoed *bang, bang, bang* through the city.

In previous years, the Spring Major at this time was quite shabby, with few people paying any special attention to it. But this year was the complete opposite. Even the ceremonial cannons, usually reserved for the main tournament finals, were brought out and fired a few resounding booms into the sky. The liveliness, while not matching the main tournament finals, was certainly no less than the semi-finals.

After all, in this Spring Major, several different city districts had each produced their own stunning and brilliant contenders.

Among them, the most dazzling was the Blood Knight from the Grand Knight Territory. The Blood Knight’s strength was so formidable that he had crushed his way from the beginning to the end. Few people could withstand two blows from the Blood Knight’s axe. This kind of power was despair-inducing. The other most dazzling contender was the Flametail Knight.

Although the Flametail Knight was far from being as unstoppable as the Blood Knight in the early matches, and had even narrowly won against her first few enemies, compared to the Blood Knight’s destructive path, the Flametail Knight was more like the protagonist of a novel, constantly improving.

She almost lost in the beginning, gradually reached a 50/50 standing in the middle, and then, as if she had awakened, she faced several powerful and formidable opponents and defeated them instantly with the most perfect posture. Her clean and decisive victories even surpassed the Blood Knight’s. Most importantly, both of them were Infected...

In the major competition zones, the two knights with the most hype, acknowledged as the strongest, were actually both Infected....

Honestly, many people couldn’t accept this in their hearts. Many negative comments had popped up on the internet these past few days. Of course, the Chamber of Commerce officials were quite happy about it, because the original purpose of announcing that Infected could participate in the Knight Major was precisely this. The initial goal had been achieved. But for some unknown reason, the various directors of the Chamber of Commerce couldn’t feel happy at all. Every one of them wore a long Resting Bitch Face (RBF). If only the Flametail Knight would bow their head like the Blood Knight...

To ensure viewership ratings and avoid overlap, the finals for the major competition zones were held separately. The zones with the lowest hype went first, while the two zones with the highest hype were saved for the last day.

The Grand Knight Territory Blood Knight’s final match was scheduled for the morning. Just as everyone had guessed, even though it was the finals, it was still nothing for the powerful Blood Knight. His opponent didn’t even last three moves before being defeated. The Blood Knight, as an Infected knight participating in the Knight Major for the first time, had debuted at his peak and won the first championship of his life. It was the first, but it wouldn’t be the last.

The Blood Knight’s ferocious combat style attracted the adoration of many male spectators. After all, women who liked domineering brutes were in the minority; those who liked him were almost exclusively men. As a result, a flame war about their strength erupted online. Who was stronger, the Blood Knight or the Flametail Knight? This argument had actually started long ago, but after the Blood Knight successfully won the championship, the flame war reached its peak.

Now, the pressure was entirely on the Flametail Knight.

The venue for the match between the Flametail Knight and the other ”Nameless Knight” had also been specially changed. It wasn’t in the original arena, but in a long-abandoned, uninhabited urban district. Many seats were set up around the perimeter of the urban area for the audience to enjoy the match, with a huge screen every few feet.

This abandoned urban district, serving as the finals’ location, was massive, many times larger than the previous arenas. Moreover, in the center of the district, various abandoned buildings stood tall, providing endless amounts of cover.

When Lucas Reeve and Sona saw this terrain, the only word they could use to describe the Chamber of Commerce was ”shameless.”

Not only did they arrange a strong enemy to snipe Sona, but they even changed the competition venue to an urban warfare setting, which archers excelled at. Compared to a boundless arena, this kind of battlefield, with its tall buildings and countless hiding places, was an archer’s absolute favorite.

And at this moment, within the Chamber of Commerce.

Many people felt a weight lift off their chests, and they weren’t so nervous anymore.

After all, the legendary Darksteel Azurite was appearing personally, and the terrain was even his specialty. This basically already pronounced the little squirrel’s death.

Although these directors had never seen Darksteel make a move, the legends were many. For example, a casual arrow from Darksteel could pierce through an entire building floor. With this kind of power, even among the Campaign Knights, few could contend with Darksteel in a one-on-one fight. Therefore, the Darksteel Azurite’s strength in Kazimierz could only be described as terrifying.

Such strength, coupled with his specialty terrain.

With all these buffs stacked, the directors of the Chamber of Commerce couldn’t imagine how Darksteel could possibly lose.

”Ladies and gentlemen!! Welcome!! To the final match of the Spring Major! Our absolute dark horse who has won every match! The Flametail Knight! And his opponent is the mysterious Nameless Knight! But, viewers, you can’t look down on him just because he’s nameless, because in the previous match, he easily defeated the Whislash Knight, and I’m sure all you viewers know how strong the Whislash Knight is!”

”Therefore, this battle is a clash of titans in itself! Without further ado, let’s welcome today’s two contestants!”

”The Flametail Knight and the Nameless Knight!!”
