Evolving My Undead Legion In A Game-Like World

Chapter 1044 One Million Evolution Points

Michael had naturally checked the cost of evolving each item beforehand. The moment he learned the price, he had nearly abandoned the idea entirely.

One million Evolution Points.

That was the cost to evolve either the Damaged Coffin of the Forgotten or the spatial ring into a Legendary Grade treasure. One million. Michael still felt it was pure madness.

But after calming down and thinking about it carefully, he could also understand why.

This was a Legendary Grade treasure. Not Epic. Legendary. The difference between the two was likely greater than the difference from Common to Epic combined.

From everything Michael had observed so far, not even all Rank 4 supernaturals possessed Epic Grade treasures. Many still used Three-Star Extraordinary Grade items.

Even a One-Star Epic Grade treasure was considered valuable enough to start conflicts between powerful figures.

If Rank 4 experts were already like this, Michael doubted Rank 5 existences would be much better. That was the realm of Demigods. Yet even among them, Michael suspected many would still be using Two-Star or Three-Star Epic Grade treasures.

From that perspective, the value of a Legendary Grade treasure became obvious. Honestly speaking, one million Evolution Points almost looked cheap.

Unfortunately, understanding the value and paying the price were two different things.

Michael looked at the coffin and the ring. If he evolved both separately, that would cost two million Evolution Points. He could afford it. But it felt extremely wasteful.

Two million Evolution Points could create an absurd amount of combat power, giving him dozens of Rank 4 undead. A Legendary Grade treasure was valuable, but not valuable enough to blind him.

Fortunately, there was another option.

With his talent, he could merge the two treasures together. Compared to direct evolution, merging was far cheaper. Only five hundred thousand Evolution Points. Compared to the original two million, this was practically robbery.

Of course, the process would consume one of the treasures. Some people might consider that a loss, but Michael disagreed.

After all, he was not destroying them. He was combining two similar treasures to create something stronger.

More importantly, these were not the only Three-Star Epic Grade treasures he possessed.

If he wanted, he could simply create more Three-Star Epic Grade treasures on his own. When he became richer, he could have as many Epic Grade treasures as he wanted, so there was no need to be too stubborn about it.

Michaelʼs gaze settled on the black coffin and the ring. The wind howled across the mountain peaks.

For several moments, he simply stared at them. Then he finally opened his status panel.

[Evolution Points: 10,147,392]

Five hundred thousand points vanished instantly.

The next moment, both treasures alongside a small drop of his blood essence floated into the air. Michaelʼs talent activated.

This was Michaelʼs first time evolving something to the Legendary Grade, and he had known the process would not be simple. He was right.

After all, this was a Legendary Grade treasure. Even among Demigods, such an item would likely be considered a prized possession.

Yet even with all his preparations, he had not expected what happened next.

BOOOOOOOOOOM!!!

The instant the fusion began, the heavens shook.

Michaelʼs pupils contracted.

The clear blue sky above him darkened at a visible speed. It was as if an invisible hand had grabbed the sky itself and smothered it with darkness.

Massive black clouds appeared from nowhere and immediately began expanding.

Ten thousand miles. Twenty thousand miles. Thirty thousand miles.

The clouds continued growing without slowing.

Forty thousand miles. Fifty thousand miles.

Only then did they finally stop.

Michael sucked in a cold breath. A chill ran down his spine. The scale alone was enough to make his scalp tingle.

The surrounding mana had also become chaotic. Violent currents swept across the mountains.

With his exceptional senses, Michael watched as countless beasts fled in terror. The world itself seemed to be warning all living creatures to stay away.

At some point, Michael too had already retreated dozens of miles from the fusion site. Even then, he still felt uneasy.

The two treasures floated at the center of the phenomenon. The black coffin and the storage ring had become enveloped within a cocoon of silver-black light.

The surrounding space continuously twisted and shattered before restoring itself.

Then everything became silent. Even the violent winds vanished.

CRAAAAAAACK!!!

A blinding bolt of lightning descended from the heavens. It tore through the dark clouds like a divine spear and struck directly toward the cocoon surrounding the treasures.

The scene felt very familiar to Michael. ”Heavenly Tribulation.”

The words escaped his mouth unconsciously. It reminded him exactly of the tribulations faced by those advancing to Rank 4.

Michael had always wondered when he would personally witness something like this.

After all, he was no longer the same person he had been a year ago. He was considerably more knowledgeable now, thanks in no small part to his habit of having some of his undead read extensively and then implanting their accumulated knowledge into his memory.

He knew that starting from Epic Grade, items would face a heavenly tribulation.

The key difference between an item tribulation and one faced by an intelligent race was that the former was usually far faster.

After all, the heavens were simply testing whether the item deserved its rank. Epic grade items and above could only force their way through with their bodies.

As those thoughts flashed through his mind, Michael watched as the lightning crashed into the cocoon.

BOOOOOOOOOOM!!!

The first tribulation lightning slammed into the cocoon with enough force to shatter mountains. Space rippled violently. The silver-black cocoon trembled. Yet it endured.

Then came the second bolt.

CRAAAAAAACK!!!

Then the third. The fourth. The fifth. Each strike was stronger than the last. The heavens seemed determined to destroy the treasure before it could even be born.

Entire mountain peaks collapsed under the residual shockwaves. Several nearby rivers changed course.

Hundreds of miles of land were reduced to wasteland.
