Evolving My Undead Legion In A Game-Like World

Chapter 1015: Eve of Battle!

”You have reached this level of strength already. That is not easy.” The pressure around him intensified faintly. ”So I will give you one final chance. I do not know your grievance against me and my empire. Leave now, and I can pretend tonight never happened.”

His tone carried unquestionable authority. Then his eyes turned colder. ”Or, if you truly are not afraid of dying after cultivating to this level, stay.”

The atmosphere instantly became heavier. Even the winds around the capital seemed to freeze.

Michael looked at the emperor quietly. Then finally, he spoke.

”I killed two imperial princes. If your empire can promise in front of everyone here that you will not pursue this matter further, then I will leave.”

Silence.

”But if you cannot, then let’s fight to the death.”

The skies trembled faintly. Below, countless people held their breath.

Of course, if Michael could not defeat the empire without paying a devastating cost, he would run. But that was a thought he kept to himself.

The emperor stared at him silently. Several seconds passed.

Then finally, ”...So be it.”

The emperor’s expression turned incomparably cold. ”EVERYONE! ATTACK!”

BOOOOOOOOOOM!!!

The countless massive formations above the capital erupted with blinding light. Michael’s expression changed instantly.

Space distorted violently around him. His vision blurred. An overwhelming spatial force swallowed him whole before he could fully resist.

BOOOOOOM!!!

The world changed. Everything around him transformed into endless darkness.

Michael’s eyes narrowed sharply. He had actually been forcefully dragged into the void itself.

Not only him. Behind him, roughly five hundred undead had also been pulled into the isolated space. As for the remaining undead, Michael could faintly sense them outside the void. Clearly, the empire’s formation had intentionally separated part of his forces.

Although he could still forcibly leave if he truly wished, doing so would require time and effort. They had trapped him temporarily, and the empire’s experts clearly had no intention of giving him time to break free calmly.

BOOOOOOM!!!

One after another, terrifying auras rushed toward him through the void itself. The emperor led the charge personally. Behind him followed the seven Legendary beings of the empire. The void trembled violently beneath the pressure of so many powerful existences moving simultaneously.

”Damn.”

The instant Michael saw the empire’s experts rushing toward him through the void, he immediately understood their plan completely.

They had divided his forces.

The roughly three hundred undead left outside would now be forced to face the empire’s subjects within the capital. Meanwhile, Michael and the larger portion of his legion had been dragged into this isolated void battlefield where the empire’s true experts could focus entirely on crushing them.

As for the five hundred Rank 3 undead beside him, the empire’s experts probably did not care much about them at all. At this level, the shockwaves from a battle between multiple Rank 4 existences alone could already destroy ordinary Rank 3 beings in large numbers. They were essentially collateral.

It was honestly an excellent strategy. No. It was a terrifyingly good one.

The empire clearly possessed extensive experience dealing with large-scale wars and powerful enemies. The emperor had not acted impulsively even after losing two sons. Instead, he had remained calm enough to instantly create the battlefield most advantageous for the empire itself.

Though Michael also wondered briefly whether part of that composure came from not particularly caring about those sons to begin with.

Either way, Michael could not help feeling slightly impressed. These old monsters truly deserved to rule a hegemonic empire.

However, impressive as the strategy was, it still had one fundamental flaw. They had underestimated him and his legion far too much.

Outside the void, the moment Michael and nearly five hundred undead vanished from the skies, many people immediately realized what had happened.

”The Emperor trapped them! He dragged them into the void!”

”Focus on the ones remaining outside! Kill them before they can regroup!”

Instantly, countless gazes turned toward the three hundred undead still floating above the capital. The expressions of many imperial experts became fierce and eager.

Even if the enemy still possessed hundreds of Rank 3 beings above the city, their true strength had been separated away.

As long as the empire eliminated the undead outside quickly enough, they could consolidate their victory before whatever was happening inside the void resolved itself.

Also they were about 200 more people than the other party. The empire side was filled with confidence. Even if the other 500 returned after this, they wouldn’t be scared since the number would be even by then.

Several hundred imperial Rank 3 experts began advancing upward with weapons drawn. The great noble clans mobilized their own forces alongside the imperial knights. It was a coordinated encirclement.

However, despite the overwhelming force closing in from every direction, the remaining undead showed absolutely no panic. Putting aside the fact they were incapable of feeling it, there was truly no need.

The imperial experts suddenly slowed as a figure in black robes stepped forward from among the undead.

It was Spartan.

Black flames quietly burned across the surface of his body. Without warning, terrifying black flames exploded outward from his body.

Several Rank 3 experts charging at the front immediately changed expressions.

”DEFEND!”

It was already too late. The black flames swept across the skies like a tidal wave.

BOOOOOOM!!!

The surrounding air distorted violently. One armored knight was sent flying backward instantly while coughing blood. Another mage screamed miserably as the protective barriers around his body melted apart like paper.

The charging momentum of the imperial forces was forcibly halted in a single exchange.

Countless expressions changed drastically.

”What kind of flame is that?!”

”It corroded my mana!”

”Careful!”

Meanwhile, Spartan merely stood silently amidst the spreading black fire. Then his voice echoed across the battlefield.

”My master already gave you a chance. His grudge is only with the imperial family, not with the rest of you. Step aside and you will not die tonight.”

”But if you refuse, then all of you will die here.”
