Evolving My Undead Legion In A Game-Like World

Chapter 980: Royal Apology

Michael, however, still wore a polite smile on his face.

Unfortunately, despite the smile, his mood was honestly not very good at the moment.

He had waited several days for today.

The Evolution Points had finally accumulated.

Wisdom’s evolution into the Epic grade could finally begin.

And just before he started—

The grand princess suddenly appeared at his doorstep.

If it had only been Arianne, Michael would not have cared much. He could easily have asked her to wait for a while and made sure to make it up to her afterward.

But Princess Priscilla was different.

She was a genuine Rank 3 existence.

There was no way he would casually attempt an Epic-grade evolution while a Rank 3 sat within his territory.

An Epic-grade evolution would definitely create massive disturbances.

And unlike previous evolutions, this one would likely last several days.

Meaning—

His plans had been delayed again.

Naturally, this made Michael somewhat irritated internally.

Princess Priscilla seemed to sense the faint impatience hidden beneath Michael’s calm expression.

Rather than becoming displeased, however, faint worry flashed through her eyes.

From the moment they met, she could tell that though the boy respected her, it was only the basic respect one extends to another’s status and power. It was not awe, nor the level of deference nobles made sure to show her.

Over time it had become increasingly obvious that he did not fear her. Of course, why would he? He had two people of her level as personal guards.

This was something even many princes of the empire were not entitled to.

This matter coincidentally also had something to do with why she was here today.

Princess Priscilla finally spoke.

”I came today to apologize on behalf of my nephew.”

This time, Michael was genuinely surprised.

For a brief moment, several thoughts flashed through his mind.

He had originally assumed her visit had something to do with the Everlong Forest.

After all, the violent weather changes from over a week ago were impossible to completely hide from the kingdom.

In fact, Michael was almost certain now that the people he had sensed before leaving had belonged to the kingdom.

Yet instead of questioning him about that matter, the grand princess had come to apologize?

Michael immediately became curious.

Which prince was she apologizing for, and what had they done for her to personally come on their behalf?

It definitely should not have been the First Prince. Their relationship was not particularly close, but it also was not bad.

The only princes Michael could think of having actual conflict with were the Ninth Prince and the Tenth Prince.

The Ninth Prince because of the political marriage issue where he had taken his fiancée.

The Tenth Prince because of the incident where Michael had publicly compared him to a commoner.

Unless some other prince had somehow developed feelings for his brother’s former fiancée, then it could only be one of those two.

Princess Priscilla calmly observed Michael’s changing expression before continuing.

”My nephew acted somewhat improperly recently.”

Arianne quietly lowered her head slightly beside her.

Meanwhile, Michael’s thoughts became even more curious.

Somewhat improperly?

For someone of Princess Priscilla’s status to personally travel here to deliver an apology, the matter was definitely not small.

Michael leaned slightly back in his chair.

”May I know which prince Your Highness is referring to?”

Princess Priscilla did not answer immediately.

Instead, she studied Michael for several seconds before speaking.

”The Tenth Prince.”

As expected.

Michael was not too surprised internally.

Compared to the Ninth Prince, the Tenth Prince was younger and far more impulsive. If someone had offended Michael recently enough to warrant the royal family sending an apology, then the likelihood of it being him was indeed higher.

However, Princess Priscilla was a Rank 3 being. One of the strongest in this land. What had the Tenth Prince done to warrant her personal presence?

It was only after hearing Princess Priscilla’s full explanation that Michael finally understood the severity of the situation.

As expected, the empire had indeed started applying pressure on the surrounding kingdoms under the excuse of investigating the disappearance of their prince from the secret realm.

After all, every major power’s geniuses had already returned.

Only the imperial prince remained missing.

Naturally, the empire refused to simply let the matter go. At least on the surface. However the situation had suddenly encountered a change three days ago.

Three days ago, the kingdom had hosted a royal banquet to welcome another imperial prince.

Unlike the missing one, this prince possessed a much higher status within the empire.

And during that banquet, the Tenth Prince had apparently spoken about Michael at length, describing him with great awe.

Michael’s expression gradually became colder as Princess Priscilla continued.

The Tenth Prince had openly mentioned how Michael possessed Rank 3 bodyguards.

How he himself was probably no match for Michael, and neither were many others of the same generation.

How Michael could supposedly summon other powerful beings using summon magic.

At first glance, none of those statements directly accused Michael.

But taken together, they practically pointed a giant arrow toward him.

Especially at a time when the empire was desperately searching for possible suspects.

What truly surprised Michael was the second person involved. Count Hallen. His direct superior.

Apparently, after the Tenth Prince finished speaking, Count Hallen had coincidentally added several comments regarding Michael’s abnormal rise, mysterious background, and unusual strength.

Though neither had directly accused Michael—

Together, they had practically implied that if anyone among the younger generation possessed the capability to interfere with or eliminate the imperial prince, then Viscount Mic was highly suspicious.

The room became noticeably quieter afterward.

Arianne remained uncomfortable.

After hearing Princess Priscilla’s account, Michael finally understood why she had personally traveled to Thornvale.

This was no longer merely about the Tenth Prince embarrassing himself publicly.

This matter could potentially drag him into imperial attention.

Worse, the empire already possessed reasons to investigate him, and due to the Everlong Forest incident, Michael figured he was pretty much suspicious to every party in the capital by now.

However, compared to the outburst Princess Priscilla had expected from Michael, he instead asked a very strange question.

”Does Princess Priscilla have any idea how many Legendary beings the empire may possess?”
