Nie Qixing did not expect that the matter had already reached the ears of those old fellows in the Privy Council. His expression changed slightly, as if he was swayed.

Shadow hurried to persuade him. “Young Master Qi, don’t be willful! The Empress has been worried about you lately. Don’t make her angry again.”

Nie Qixing looked at the graceful and noble person sitting on the sofa. Even though she was old, she still had an unattainable noble aura that made people yearn for her.

His eyes dimmed. Under Shadow’s expectant gaze, he shook his head and said with a pale face, “I don’t know who you’re talking about.”

—I don’t know!

At this moment, he still said that he did not know!

Nie Qingru shut her eyes tightly as if extremely disappointed in him. She did not want to give him another chance, so she ordered in a low voice, “Beat him up!”

“Empress…” This time, even Shadow could not stop her.

Two burly men dragged Nie Qixing from his wheelchair without another word. Even when he fell to the ground in a sorry state, they did not show mercy and said coldly, “Young Master Nie, sorry for offending you.”

…

An hour and a half later.

The air in the suite was filled with the strong smell of blood. The smell of rust mixed with some sweetness blended into the air.

Shadow kneeled and begged the high and mighty woman more than 10 times, but the other party’s heart was of stone, and she was not moved.

At first, Nie Qixing could still groan in pain, but later on, he gradually stopped making any sounds.

The two bodyguards taking action also stopped and looked at each other. Neither of them dared to continue.

The Empress said to beat him up, but she did not say she wanted Young Master Nie to die.

After all, Young Master Nie was the Empress’s younger brother. If anything happened to him, and the Empress took her anger out on them, they would be unable to bear the consequences.

“Why did you stop?” Nie Qingru asked impatiently.

One of the bodyguards braced himself and took a step forward. “Empress, Young Master Nie seems to have fainted.”

Nie Qingru also noticed that Nie Qixing was lying motionless on the ground. The ground was covered in blood, staining the carpet. It was a shocking sight.

She rubbed her eyebrows and asked, “He still won’t say anything?”

The bodyguards looked at each other again and shook their heads. “Young Master Nie won’t answer no matter what.”

The Empress was there the whole time. She would have heard if Young Master Nie said it.

The truth was that Young Master Nie refused to say a word. He would rather die than say anything.

Shadow squatted down and touched Nie Qixing’s nose. His heart pounded on his chest. Unable to stand it anymore, he knelt and begged Nie Qingru again. “Empress, you can’t hit him anymore. If you continue, Young Master Qi will lose his life. I know you’re furious this time, but you watched Young Master Qi grow up. Are you going to watch him die?”

He knew he was crossing the line.

However, he had also watched Nie Qixing grow up from a small baby to an adult, and now, Nie Qixing had fallen from the clouds into the mud…

Shadow did not have the heart to beg Nie Qingru to let Nie Qixing go.

“Your Majesty…”

“…”

Nie Qingru was a human, after all. She was not completely emotionless. Looking at the motionless person on the ground, after a long silence, she said hoarsely, “Why does he have to protect that woman?”

It was just a woman.

Nie Qixing really disappointed her!

However, she could only think of another way now. She pressed a hand to her forehead and thought for a moment before making a decision.
