Chapter 1463: Chapter 1457: What Happened_1 Chapter 1463: Chapter 1457: What Happened_1 “I want to know if your family has ever abandoned a boy?” Jing Xin stared fiercely at Nangong Kunpeng.

“Yes, my eldest son is missing, but we didn’t abandon him.” Nangong Kunpeng looked at Jing Xin, his eyes full of fervor.

“Not abandoned?” Jing Xin whispered the words.

“No.” Nangong Kunpeng firmly met Jing Xin’s gaze, he had never rejected his son.

“So, how did he disappear?” Jing Xin couldn’t understand how a child could vanish without a trace. Didn’t they find it odd?

“My wife and I went to the hospital because of the child in her belly. We left the boy at home. Yet, when we came back, we were informed that he was gone. My wife couldn’t take the news, started having contractions, and gave birth prematurely. She delivered another boy, but he was born prematurely, a difficult birth. He died upon arrival. So, after we buried him, we have been looking for our eldest son ever since. But we got no news until one day, the search party brought back his blood-stained clothes. He was wearing them the day he disappeared. I’ve kept those clothes locked up in my safe. Yingying, go and get them.” Nangong Kunpeng handed the key to Nangong Beiying.

“Alright.” Nangong Beiying took the key upon hearing her father’s order.

“And then what?” Jing Xin felt distressed. But there were still things he didn’t understand and needed clarifications.

“We had to accept our son was truly gone. Those consecutive misfortunes shattered my wife’s will to live. In hopes it might help her, we decided to have another child. That child is my daughter, Yingying. But later we suspected something suspicious was going on. Why were our children facing one disaster after another? My wife was on the verge of breaking down. So, I shared with her my suspicions. We then decided to have my wife give birth abroad.

Immigrating at that time was challenging, but I managed to send my wife away with the help of many people. It wasn’t until she gave birth that I brought her back due to her poor health condition. Sadly, she passed away not long after. Yingying was raised abroad, looked after by the people I dispatched. Her four bodyguards were adopted by my wife to accompany Yingying. They were not only her companions but also her protectors…” Nangong Kunpeng explained the arrangements he and his wife had made.

“So, it means that Nangong Beiying didn’t grow up in the Nangong’s family.” Jing Xin never imagined such a story hidden in a large family could be so horrifying.

“No, she wasn’t. It was only last year that I sent people to bring her back. But the people I sent reported that Yingying was missing. I was shocked, as no one knew about Yingying’s existence. Just as I was planning to send more people to find her, she returned with her four bodyguards. Everything after that is just as you see now.” Nangong Kunpeng didn’t mention Jing Xin was his son, guessing he was full of resentment.

So, Nangong Kunpeng told the full story. Whether Jing Xin trusts him or not is up to Jing Xin. He can’t force him.

“Dad, I’ve fetched it. Is this the one?” Nangong Beiying appeared before everyone with a box.

“Yes, that’s it. Open it.” Nangong Beiying was about to hand the box to her father, but he spoke before she could let go.

“Alright.” Nangong Beiying sat on the sofa, placed the box on her lap, and slowly lifted the lid.

“Sss.” Everyone who was intently watching all drew a sharp breath when they saw what was inside the box. Anybody would believe the boy was gone after seeing this piece of clothing.
