Reincarnation of the Strongest Healer

Chapter 232: Heavily In Debt

Alone in the VIP room, Xu Feng was rather relaxed, making himself overly comfortable as if he owned the place.

Previously, he didnʼt know anything so he was rather respectful and polite.

However, now that he got the general gist of the situation regarding Star Falls City, he was like a wolf that had entered a lamb house.

He would be a fool to not slaughter these lambs and maximize his profits.

As for the worry that they might send him away and deny his request, Xu Feng was sure they wouldnʼt.

Although he wasnʼt absolutely sure, he was positive that Sandy was the person who recommended him.

Even if that wasnʼt the case, based on Howardʼs identity, the person who recommended him must be of fairly high status. Otherwise, with someone of Howardʼs stature, there was no way he would go out of his way to meet him.

A few minutes went by, and Jessica returned to the room, agreeing with his request.

”After much consideration and for your upcoming effort, the price can be cut down to 1,560 gold coins.” She revealed.

ʼA 20% discount huh.ʼ Composed on the surface, Xu Feng was even more reassured that whoever recommended him should be someone even higher than Howard.

”Alright, 1,560 gold coins it is, but as discussed before, itʼll be paid through installment. I currently donʼt have many gold coins on me, but I do wish to operate those lands as soon as possible.” Xu Feng said, nearly frustrating Jessica to death.

After all that ordeal, he just revealed he lacked the funds, but still wanted to use the lands right away.

ʼAre all nobles such bullies like him??! Or is this revenge for my rude remarks earlier?ʼ Jessica screamed internally, wanting nothing more than to strangle Xu Feng.

Thankfully, she resisted her urge, mainly because she feared for her life.

”Very well, but you need to pay 195 gold coins each week. This is the bottom line.” Jessica stated resolutely. While saying that, she retrieved the land deeds as well as the contract and placed them on the table.

Taking a glance at the contract, Xu Feng didnʼt find any fishy things, considering how simple the clauses were.

It was just as they discussed, and he would need to pay 195 gold coins each week during the installment. Failure to do so would mean they shall repossess the lands regardless of his plea. At the same time, any installment payment made would not be refunded to him.

Despite such conditions being simple, Xu Feng shook his head and didnʼt sign the contract.

”Whatʼs wrong?” Jessica raised an eyebrow and asked. This kind of contract was one of a kind. These lands were practically handed to him for free, given these were all prime locations.

Yet he still refused to sign it?

Was he toying with her the entire time?

”You know— the lands are certainly cheap, but what about the construction fee?” Xu Feng suddenly brought this topic up, taking Jessica by surprise.

”You see, when lands are cheap and the city wants to make their money back, they usually do it through the so-called construction fees, such as materials, labor, management, etc.”

ʼThis person is as sly as a snake just like the manager.ʼ Jessica cursed silently, wondering if Xu Feng was an old man in disguise as a young man.

However, she was already told specifically that Xu Feng must remain in Star Falls City and not leave for another. Additionally, the money wasnʼt going to be hers but the City Magistrate.

ʼHmph, they make me handle this task, then let them bleed.ʼ Jessica inwardly sneered and began modifying the contract.

The new clauses stated that whatever building Xu Feng wanted to construct on the lands, 75% of the bill would be covered by the City Magistrate, with the remaining 25% for Xu Feng. To protect his interest further, the 25% must not be over 30 gold coins, essentially meaning it was a fixed payment fee, albeit subtle.

”Do you have any more concerns, Baron Lin Feng?” Jessica smiled awkwardly and asked.

”No more,” Xu Feng mused, readily signing the contract, effectively becoming a wealthy landowner. At the same time, he became heavily in debt and was probably the only player at the moment to owe over 1500 gold coins.

Despite being heavily in debt, Xu Feng was rather satisfied, given the return value was definitely going to be the biggest one yet.

Shortly after the contract was signed, Xu Feng was ”kindly” requested to leave while they would handle the subsequent procedure.

Leaving the Adventure Association, he stretched his arms and began browsing through his inbox.

ʼHuh, Kai sent me a message?ʼ Surprised, Xu Feng opened the message and was in deep thought.

[Feng, someone posted that you are hiding a big secret and you become the center of attention now. Some of the guilds are now demanding you to hand over the secret, otherwise, the consequences would be big once they are eligible to enter the city.]

A cold expression flashed on his face as he finished reading it.

”These guilds must be tired of living to threaten me.” He muttered, being 90 percent sure that the anonymous user making such a post was related to the Reaver Guild.

Such tactics were very common for them. Alas, they underestimated him severely if he thought he would be frightened by these superficial guilds.

Maybe if they were still playing those old virtual reality games, they might be able to harm him.

But in the Divine World?

They should just forget about their past glory and rethink themselves.

While keeping this in mind, Xu Feng went on to check the money he earned from the video fee he charged.

”Oh my… no wonder the Reaver Guild wanted to rope in other guilds to target me.” Instantaneously, Xu Feng laughed in amusement at the money he earned.

A whopping total of 50 gold coins and some silver, which meant at least 5,000 players had purchased his video at the cost of 1 silver coin.
