Reincarnation of the Strongest Healer

Chapter 23: First Business

Having calmed his emotions, Xu Feng never expected Gentle Wind to be a golden goose.

The straightforwardness and the courage to offer such wealth in an instant were commendable.

Impressed, Xu Feng seriously wanted to reply yes right away, but he didnʼt.

And no, he wasnʼt trying to act mighty here. The money was definitely impressive and he quite liked this personality of Gentle Wind.

However, there was his principal or earning the maximum value. To cater to Gentle Windʼs request and potentially risk losing all future business partners, was no good.

As a profiteer, he needed to maintain good relationships with most of the wealthy players and ensure that every one of them had a fair game. Fair game as in he would be the one controlling and deciding who would get which achievement.

ʼYouʼre desperate enough, and Iʼve already promised to give you the first clear achievement. So why the rush?ʼ Xu Feng fixed his glasses and decided to respond back to Gentle Wind, lest she might become overly anxious. Anonymous User: Gentle Wind, Iʼm flattered by your offer, but itʼs a shame that Iʼm not the person who auctioned those potions.

Nevertheless, I can still accept your payment, albeit with the context changed.

Gentle Wind: Change the context? What do you mean by that?

Anonymous User: What I mean is that I wonʼt be giving you a batch of the potions, but I can guarantee you having the first clear achievement in return for 150,000 dollars.

Gentle Wind: Thatʼs quite a large amount youʼre asking for.

Anonymous User: I doubt itʼs too much if it meant a guaranteed head start against other guilds youʼre competing with. Iʼm sure you are desperate to show some results too. An increase of 50,000 dollars shouldnʼt be much for someone of your stature.

Gentle Wind: Indeed, that money isnʼt much, but what if you fail? Why should I believe you are capable of succeeding?

Xu Feng smirked coldly at this time once he read that question, ”Iʼve got you now, my little precious golden goose.”

Without the need of trying to persuade Gentle Wind further through words, Xu Feng directly sent an attachment to her instead.

From the attachment, it was a contract overseen by the Divine World System, ensuring that no parties are allowed to breach the contract. There was no escape from the Systemʼs Judgment once caught unless they wished to bid their farewell to the Divine World permanently.

Meanwhile, on the other side of a forest, Gentle Wind was stunned by the contract clauses.

ʼThis player is really getting more and more mysterious as time passes by.ʼ Gentle Wind had no choice but to admit defeat this time.

It seemed as if the other person had read her through like a book. With the contract clauses listed, she would be reassured by this cooperation.

After all, the person stated that she would receive a batch of potions no worse than the ones auctioned in the Auction Market for free if they were to fail the dungeon.

Additionally, all payments would be returned to her, meaning she wouldnʼt have wasted her investment and still receive more potions in the end.

ʼHah, you say you arenʼt the person who auctioned those potions but are confident to return me higher quality ones in case you failed. Then, arenʼt you just admitting you have higher quality potions in hand and were teasing me earlier.ʼ Gentle Wind became speechless when she read back on their previous conversation.

Despite knowing that she was being played and deceived earlier, there was nothing else she could do.

The advantage was on the other party, and if she angered them, then they could easily swap business partners. However, the same could not be said for her.

”Whatʼs the matter, Gentle Wind?” Autumn Breeze turned to her with a concerned expression.

”You looked stressed… is it that mysterious player youʼre chatting with again? Why donʼt you just block them already?”

As soon as Autumn Breeze finished her sentence, Gentle Wind flicked on her forehead and lightly scolded, ”What nonsense are you talking about? If I block that person, then would you be able to give me a batch of Fire Resistance Potions?”

Feeling wronged, Autumn Breeze rubbed her forehead and stared at Gentle Wind with puppy eyes.

”Read this contract clause and youʼll know.” Gentle Wind shared the details with her, given she was too lazy to explain to her.

Sometime later, Autumn Breeze was astonished and was about to shout loudly, but Gentle Wind was quick enough to prevent her.

”Shh, donʼt yell. This is top secret.” She warned her sternly.

Autumn Breeze nodded her head repeatedly in understanding. She wasnʼt foolish either to think someone would attempt to break a contract overseen by the system.

Before Divine World was published, there had been other VRMMORPGs with the system capable of overseeing everything.

There had never been one incident of a contract being overseen by the system that failed to deliver judgment on people who had breached the clauses.

”Since you signed the contract, itʼs in effect already. So what do we do now?” Autumn Breeze asked, and quickly stepped backward, managing to avoid another flick on her forehead.

With her finger paused mid-air, Gentle Wind rolled her eyes and explained, ”Naturally we need to get the members to level up as soon as possible.

Although that person didnʼt mention the time, we need to hurriedly reach the requirement.”

”Yes, Iʼll tell them to work harder,” Autumn Breeze said, dashing away. She looked no different than a guilty child, who wanted nothing more than to escape from their motherʼs punishment.

Looking at Autumn Breeze escaping, Gentle Wind wondered if she could one day be carefree like her as well. Not having to worry about her appearance and other peopleʼs perspective of her.

Sighing softly, Gentle Wind closed the message and calmly joined Autumn Breeze, along with the rest of the Silver Wind members. They were going to spend most of the time here until each of them level up sufficiently to tackle the Scorched Caverns.
