System Possession, One Sword Shocks the Gods

78: A storm is brewingThe light from the teleportation faded, and the sensation of solid ground returned. Ye Chen opened his eyes to find himself back on the isolated peak platform shrouded by the Restriction. The mountain wind was piercingly cold, dispersing some of the bloodlust and oppression brought from the Secret Realm, but the heavy atmosphere permeating the air was even more intense than within the Secret Realm itself.

On the platform, besides Principal Yun Canghai and Elder Liu Qingfeng, there were several other Elders with profound auras and solemn expressions, including the heads of the Law Enforcement Hall, the Formation Hall, and the Martial Skill Hall. Chen Feng also stood solemnly to the side; seeing Ye Chen appear safely, a flicker of relief flashed in his eyes.

Everyone’s gaze focused on Ye Chen, especially on the guixu broken sword in his hand, which had now lost all its rust to reveal its dark, Chaos-colored true form.

”Principal, Elder Liu, Elders.” Ye Chen suppressed the churning Qi and blood and the surging emotions within his body as he stepped forward to salute.

Yun Canghai nodded slightly, his gaze like a torch as it swept over Ye Chen’s entire body, lingering for a moment on his sword-wielding right hand and his slightly pale but sharp-eyed face. He said in a deep voice, ”It is good that you are unharmed. Tell us in detail what happened within the Secret Realm; do not omit anything.”

”Yes.”

Ye Chen took a deep breath and clearly reported the entire process, from encountering the Sword Intent suppression upon entering the Secret Realm, to discovering the Sword Intent aggregate, being ambushed by Dark Hall assassins, entering the Sword Tomb to obtain the Nirvana Sword Venerable Legacy, condensing the guixu sword, and later encountering the Myriad Sword Demon Puppet and the Dark Hall Earth Fiend Emissary, until finally being intercepted by ’Faceless’ and rescued by the Principal... throughout the account, he only kept hidden the core secret of the ancient sword phantasm deep within his Soul.

When he spoke of obtaining the Nirvana Sword Venerable Legacy and the emergence of the guixu sword, even though the Elders had already made guesses, they still couldn’t help but show shock. Their gazes toward the guixu sword were full of complexity—there was admiration, solemnity, and a hint of imperceptible worry.

And upon hearing about the ’Myriad Sword Demon Puppet’ and the ’Earth Fiend Emissary’, especially the final appearance of ’Faceless’, everyone’s expressions became incredibly grim.

”The Myriad Sword Demon Puppet... forcibly blending the will of countless broken swords in the Secret Realm with the Evil Qi of the ley lines... The Dark Hall actually dares to commit such a Heaven-Defying act!” The Elder of the Formation Hall’s beard and hair bristled with uncontrollable rage.

”The Seventy-Two Earth Fiend Emissaries... and ’Faceless’...” The Law Enforcement Hall Elder’s gaze was as sharp as a blade. ”It seems the Dark Hall has invested heavily this time; their goals are not small!”

Liu Qingfeng looked at Ye Chen, his tone filled with concern and seriousness: ”Chen’er, you just said that your Sword Intent transformed because of the Legacy, deriving a ’Devouring’ characteristic? Show it to me. Remember, only demonstrate its essence; do not activate it with full force.”

Ye Chen understood that Elder Liu was worried about him being backlashed by the power, so he nodded in agreement. He held his breath and focused his mind, slightly raising the guixu sword as a wisp of peculiar Sword Intent flickered from the tip. The core of that Sword Intent was dark gold, its edges entwined with Chaos currents and subtle dark red patterns, emitting a sense of Annihilation and Devouring, but under his deliberate control, it appeared docile and restrained.

However, the moment this wisp of Sword Intent appeared, the expressions of all the Elders on the platform shifted. They could feel that the Spiritual Qi in the surrounding heaven and earth was faintly showing signs of gathering toward that Sword Intent and being silently devoured by it! Although it was extremely weak, its essence was terrifyingly high!

”To be able to derive such a domineering ’Devouring’ from within Nirvana... it is hard to tell whether this is a blessing or a curse.” A white-haired Elder murmured, the worry in his eyes deepening.

Yun Canghai remained silent for a moment before slowly speaking: ”Power is neither good nor evil; it is governed only by the heart. Ye Chen’s ability to obtain the Nirvana Sword Venerable Legacy is his Opportunity. Now that the demonic calamity is about to rise, such power is precisely what is needed to slay demons and eliminate evil. However, the Dao of Devouring can easily delude one’s original heart. Ye Chen, you must always guard your sword heart and clearly distinguish your own Dao; you must not lose yourself for even a moment.”

”This Disciple will keep the Principal’s teachings in mind! I will surely uphold my sword heart and slay all evil and delusions!” Ye Chen made a solemn promise, his eyes clear and firm.

Yun Canghai nodded and turned his gaze to the crowd, his tone becoming incredibly solemn: ”Based on the news Ye Chen brought back and our previous investigations, the Dark Hall’s conspiracy has become clear. They are using Liuyun City and Tianfeng Academy as altars, not merely to awaken the Shadow Demon Lord, but to use the power of the ’Demon Summoning Grand Array’ to summon a certain existence, or rather... power, from the deeper Void Realm.”

He paused and continued, ”And that ’mobile carrier’ does not refer to a single specific person or object. It is more like a ’coordinate’, a ’container’ that can carry and amplify that power. This container might be hidden among the millions of residents of Liuyun City, or it might... be right here within our Tianfeng Academy! There may even be more than one!”

As soon as these words were spoken, everyone was shocked!

More than one container? This meant that the Dark Hall’s infiltration might be deeper and their layout broader than imagined!

”The Myriad Sword Demon Puppet in the Secret Realm can be seen as a failed prototype or a byproduct of the Dark Hall’s attempt to create a ’container’. The true ’carrier’ must be more concealed and more perfect.” Yun Canghai’s gaze swept over every Elder present and Chen Feng. ”The matter of the Secret Realm is concluded for now. After this setback, the Dark Hall should not dare to enter so blatantly in the short term. But the true crisis is outside!”

”Principal, how should we respond?” Liu Qingfeng asked in a deep voice.

”First, fully activate the academy’s ’Zhou Tian Star Sword Formation’ to isolate the inside from the outside—allowing entry but no exit—and conduct a full internal investigation to find any hidden ’carriers’ at all costs!”

”Second, join forces with the Liuyun City Lord’s Manor to conduct a carpet search of the entire city under the guise of clearing out remnants and reorganizing city defenses, especially targeting those with abnormal Spiritual Qi fluctuations or suspicious behavior. We would rather investigate wrongly than let anyone slip through!”

”Third,” Yun Canghai looked at Ye Chen, his gaze profound, ”the matter of Ye Chen obtaining the Nirvana Sword Venerable Legacy must be kept strictly confidential, known only to those present. Externally, we will only announce that he had a fortunate encounter in the Secret Realm and that his sword Dao has progressed. The guixu sword must not be revealed lightly unless it is a matter of life and death.”

”Yes!” everyone responded in unison, the atmosphere solemn and murderous.

”Principal,” Ye Chen suddenly spoke, his brow furrowed slightly, ”while in the Secret Realm, I heard that Dark Hall Emissary mention the ’Moment of Nirvana’, which seems to be related to the guixu sword. I wonder...”

Yun Canghai and Liu Qingfeng exchanged a glance, both seeing the solemnity in the other’s eyes.

”This matter involves a great deal and concerns ancient secrets.” Yun Canghai said thoughtfully, ”In short, the ’Moment of Nirvana’ is a prophecy, or rather, a periodic oscillation of the Laws of heaven and earth. Legend has it that when the ’key’ carrying the Nirvana Dao Law appears, it heralds the approach of the ’Moment of Nirvana’. At that time, all Daos will wither and the era will change; it is destruction, but it also contains the Opportunity for rebirth. And your sword, ’guixu’, is very likely... one of those ’keys’ in the prophecy.”

One of the keys? An era change?

Ye Chen’s heart was jolted with immense shock; he hadn’t expected the origin of the guixu sword to involve such terrifying cosmic secrets!

”It is enough that you know this; there is no need to spread it, nor do you need to worry excessively.” Yun Canghai comforted him. ”The movements of heaven and earth have their own logic. The urgent task is to deal with the impending Dark Hall calamity. You have just experienced successive battles and obtained a Legacy; you need time to digest it. Go with Elder Liu to the ’Sword Pool’ for secluded cultivation to stabilize your cultivation and familiarize yourself with guixu. Once the academy’s investigation is complete, there may be tasks assigned to you.”

”This Disciple obeys.” Ye Chen suppressed the turmoil in his heart and nodded in agreement.

He knew that the Principal was temporarily ”protecting” him, both to let him digest his gains and to avoid exposing the guixu sword too early, which would invite even greater trouble.

Liu Qingfeng stepped forward and said to Ye Chen, ”Follow me.”

After saluting the Principal and the Elders, Ye Chen followed Liu Qingfeng, turning into two streaks of sword light and flying toward the ”Sword Pool” deep within the academy—a place rumored to have gathered countless swords and to contain pure Sword Yuan energy.

Watching the two figures depart, Yun Canghai stood with his hands behind his back, looking toward Liuyun City. His gaze seemed to penetrate layers of the Void Realm, seeing the surging undercurrents hidden beneath the city’s prosperity.

The wind sweeping through the tower heralds a rising storm in the mountains.

The shadow of the Dark Hall had already descended, and the prophecy of the Moment of Nirvana was faintly visible.

Tianfeng Academy, and even the entire Liuyun City, stood at the crossroads of fate.

And that youth holding the guixu sword would undoubtedly become a vital pawn in this storm sweeping across the world.

No, perhaps... he would be the one playing the game.
