System Possession, One Sword Shocks the Gods

66: Demonic thoughts devour the heartThe moment that dark red stream of light sank into his glabella, Ye Chen felt as if his entire Sea of Consciousness had been plunged into a red-hot branding iron!

Boom—!

A boundless tide of blood exploded within his consciousness! Tyranny, slaughter, chaos, resentment... all sorts of extreme negative emotions were like billions of steel needles, crazily stabbing into every corner of his consciousness, attempting to tear apart, pollute, and devour his self-awareness, his memories, and his emotions!

”Ant... a perfect shell... submit to this Lord... and I shall grant you supreme power...”

A grand, ancient will, filled with endless temptation and cold indifference, rang out directly in the depths of his Soul like a demon god’s whisper. This will was far more terrifying and profound than that of Elder Xue Li, or even Elder Blood Dove—it felt as though it originated from the dark side of the Universe’s birth!

It was a wisp of the Shadow Demon Lord’s will! Even if it was just a negligible trace, its essence far exceeded Ye Chen’s current Realm!

”Get out!”

Ye Chen’s consciousness roared. Amidst the endless blood-colored tide, he held onto the last shred of clarity. That clarity was his concern for his parents, his responsibility to the Ye family, his unyielding sword heart, and the core condensed by his Nirvana Sword Intent!

The dark-golden light of Sword Intent lit up within his Sea of Consciousness, like a lighthouse flickering in a storm, stubbornly resisting the blood-colored erosion. The annihilating nature of the Nirvana Sword Intent was equally effective against this demonic thought, constantly shredding the approaching negative emotions and whispers.

But the Demonic Lord’s will was simply too strong! It was like a vast ocean, while his Sword Intent was merely a small boat within it. Wave after wave of blood crashed against his Sword Intent’s light, causing its range to shrink and its glow to dim.

In the outside world, Ye Chen’s body began to tremble violently. Beneath his skin, dark red lines bulged and wound like living things, looking hideous and terrifying. His originally weak aura became extremely unstable, at times cold and deathly, filled with tyrannical killing intent, and at other times struggling to reveal a sliver of his own Sword Intent.

”Chen’er! What’s happening to you?!” Ye Xiaotian and his wife held their son. Feeling the two completely different and conflicting terrifying auras within him, they were anxious beyond measure but utterly helpless.

”It’s a Divine Soul invasion! Something is trying to perform a Possession on Junior Brother Ye!” Chen Feng’s face was incredibly grim. He tried to probe his spiritual power into Ye Chen’s body, only to be violently repelled by a cold, tyrannical force, making it impossible for him to intervene in that perilous struggle within the Sea of Consciousness.

”What should we do? Senior Brother Chen, is there a way?” a Law Enforcement Hall deacon asked anxiously.

Chen Feng gritted his teeth and shook his head: ”It is extremely difficult for outsiders to interfere in battles at the Divine Soul level. Unless there is a powerhouse who specializes in the Divine Soul and possesses a Realm far beyond the caster to intervene with a secret technique, he can only rely on himself to endure it!”

He looked at the pained, struggling expression on Ye Chen’s face and the dark-gold Sword Intent and blood-red Devilish Qi constantly flickering around him, and his heart sank to the bottom. Could Ye Chen really survive the erosion of a Demonic Lord-level will?

Within the Sea of Consciousness, the battle had reached a fever pitch.

Ye Chen’s consciousness Incarnation stood with a sword, his dark-gold Sword Intent forming a Domain that deathly guarded the final inch of ground. Outside the Domain was a towering sea of blood, and within that sea, a blurred but supremely majestic giant face condensed—it was the manifestation of the Shadow Demon Lord’s will.

”Struggling... only adds to the pain...” The Demonic Lord’s will boomed. ”Though your Sword Intent is extraordinary, your Realm is too low. How can you contend with this Lord’s eternal thought? Give up, merge with me, and you shall obtain power beyond the mundane, control life and death, and look down upon all living beings!”

Along with the words, more negative emotions transformed into hideous Devil Heads, crazily battering the Sword Intent Domain. Ye Chen felt his consciousness being eaten away bit by bit. His memories began to blur—his parents’ faces, the expectations of his clansmen, Elder Liu’s instructions... all were becoming distant.

A deep sense of fatigue washed over his heart, as if as long as he gave up resisting, he could obtain eternal peace and power... No! He absolutely could not give up!

”My Dao of the sword would rather break than bend! My will is supreme! You want to devour me? Then let’s see which is harder: your demonic thoughts or my sword!”

Ye Chen’s consciousness Incarnation let out a heaven-shaking roar. The flickering dark-gold Sword Intent Domain suddenly contracted, no longer acting as a passive defense, but condensing into an extremely refined core of Sword Intent that seemed capable of severing Karma and Reincarnation! This core was no longer just pure Nirvana; it now incorporated his unyielding will, his conviction to protect, and his absolute confidence in his own Dao of the sword!

”Heart Sword... Demon Slaying!”

He transformed himself into a sword. That core of Sword Intent, refined to the limit and carrying a determination to charge forward and perish with the enemy, actively shot toward the giant face of the Demonic Lord in the sea of blood!

This was not a confrontation of spiritual power, but the purest and most fundamental collision of will and conviction!

”Buzz—!”

The Sword Intent core and the Demonic Lord’s will crashed together! There was no sound, yet it felt as if a world-shattering boom echoed within Ye Chen’s Sea of Consciousness!

Dark-gold and blood-red lights crazily intertwined and annihilated each other!

The Demonic Lord’s will let out a roar of shock and anger. It hadn’t expected this ant’s will to be so resilient and pure! That core, which condensed conviction and the Dao of the sword, actually made it feel a hint of threat!

”Nirvana... Rebirth... Protection... Only Me...” Ye Chen’s consciousness was burning and shouting. He poured all his insights into the Dao of the sword, all his attachment to his family, and all his fury toward his enemies into this single strike!

Crack!

It was as if something had shattered! The blood-colored tide was forcibly split open by this Heart Sword that condensed everything Ye Chen was! The Demonic Lord’s massive manifestation of will also became somewhat illusory!

”Damnable ant! This Lord will remember you!” The Demonic Lord’s will let out an unwilling roar. After all, this wisp of its will was like rootless duckweed; under the strike of Ye Chen’s ”Heart Sword” that exceeded his own limits, it had been wounded. If the stalemate continued, even if it could grind Ye Chen down, this wisp of will might be too heavily damaged, making the loss outweigh the gain.

The blood light receded like a tide. That terrifying will vanished as if it had never appeared, instantly shrinking and finally transforming into a tiny dark-red rune. It attempted to hide in the depths of Ye Chen’s Sea of Consciousness, lying in wait for the future.

However, at the very moment this dark-red rune was about to successfully hide—

The ancient sword phantasm, which had been floating quietly in the deepest part of Ye Chen’s Sea of Consciousness as if unchanging since eternity, vibrated slightly.

An imperceptible yet supreme suction, which seemed to represent the origin and end of the sword, radiated from the ancient sword phantasm.

The dark-red rune that had already hidden itself let out a silent shriek of terror, as if it had encountered its natural nemesis. It was uncontrollably pulled from its hiding place by that suction, transforming into a wisp of the purest dark-red airflow before being... devoured by the ancient sword phantasm!

The ancient sword phantasm seemed to become a fraction more solid, an imperceptible change, before returning to its state of silence once again.

Within the Sea of Consciousness, ”peace” was restored. The blood color receded, the demonic thoughts vanished, leaving only Ye Chen’s dimmed but incredibly resilient core of will, and that ancient sword phantasm that looked as if nothing had happened.

In the outside world, the trembling of Ye Chen’s body stopped, and those hideous dark-red lines on his skin quickly faded. He snapped his eyes open!

In his eyes, there was no longer the previous painful struggle or the tyranny of being controlled by demonic thoughts, but a depth and sharpness that seemed to have been tempered a thousand times and cleansed of all impurities! Though his aura was still weak, his own Nirvana Sword Intent seemed to have been refined, becoming purer and more condensed!

”Chen’er!” Ye Xiaotian and his wife were overjoyed.

”Junior Brother Ye, you...” Chen Feng and the others were both shocked and delighted, while also carrying a hint of unbelievable scrutiny. They could feel that Ye Chen seemed... different.

Ye Chen slowly stood up. Although waves of weakness still came from his body, his spine was as straight as a rod. He glanced at his parents, giving them a reassuring look, then swept his gaze across the ruined ancestral home and his grieving clansmen, finally landing on Elder Xue Li, whose aura was withered due to the Formation’s backlash nearby.

His gaze was as cold as ten-thousand-year-old black ice.

”Now, it’s time for the settlement.”
