Chapter 616: Alkaid Arrives?

Hearing Wang Teng shout ”Alkaid,” Ye Chenʼs lips curled. A prime target practicing the Devouring Heaven Demon Art, coming to marry Yi Qingwu—Ye Chen had suspected a mastermind. Now, it was confirmed.

His hand didnʼt pause. Another annihilation beam shot out, infused with the Six Paths of Reincarnationʼs true intent. This time, Wang Teng couldnʼt withstand it. The beam struck, and he exploded, the cycle of life and death in the light ensuring no recovery. He was utterly dead.

The scene fell silent. Spectators gaped. The Heavenly Emperorʼs heir wielding the Heavenly Emperor Sword wasnʼt surprising, nor was his strength—his past feats were legendary. But to kill a Second Heaven Holy Master across a realm in mere moments? That was absurd.

Rumors of Ye Chenʼs injuries during his absence vanished. Clearly, heʼd missed the Immortal Pathʼs opening for something greater. His strength was flawless.

Glancing at Wang Tengʼs fallen form, realization hit. The Star River Clanʼs third Divine Son had fallen. The clan seemed cursed against the Heavenly Emperor. If they kept appointing Divine Sons, theyʼd risk extinction in centuries.

All gazed at Ye Chen in awe.

...

”Youʼre so strong—missing the Immortal Path is a pity,” Yi Qingwu said, regretful for him.

Ye Chen smiled. The Immortal Pathʼs benefits paled compared to forging his Immortal Platform with Immortal Qi. ”Even missing it, Iʼm unrivaled this generation.”

Yi Qingwuʼs smile bloomed at his confidence, but it quickly cooled.

Ye Chen didnʼt let her interrupt, waving to collect Wang Tengʼs lingering soul and origin—deliberately preserved. One went into his Human Emperor Banner, the other into the Devouring Heaven Demon Jar for purification.

At that moment, the sky lit up. A holy light scripture descended, its radiance sweeping to claim Wang Tengʼs remnants. A sigh followed: ”I arrived too late. Brother Ye, it was just a misunderstanding—why kill? As his friend, I must return Wangʼs soul to the Star River Clan.”

The voice was calm, righteous. The holy light scripture, unmistakable, revealed the speaker: Alkaid Holy Son. His Extreme Dao Weapon could kill, suppress, protect, or heal—unmatched in power.

Wang Tengʼs dying cry had sparked curiosity about Alkaidʼs presence. Now, heʼd arrived, late but intent on retrieving Wang Tengʼs soul for his clan. A true brother.

Anticipation surged among the crowd.

Alkaid had once been suppressed by the Holy Son, but on the Immortal Path, he shone unmatched, surpassing even the Heavenly Demon Body. No longer the Alkaid of old, his encounter with the Heavenly Emperorʼs heir sparked anticipation of a grand battle. Yet, Alkaidʼs true form didnʼt appear—only his Extreme Dao Weapon, the Holy Light Scripture, descended to seize Wang Tengʼs remnants.

Ye Chen smirked. Returning the soul? Nonsense.

Alkaid coveted Wang Tengʼs origin, three to four times stronger than the Heavenly Intention Holy Sonʼs, clearly from devouring many prodigies. The devouring lineage had invested heavily in him.

The Holy Light Scriptureʼs aura was overwhelming, unstoppable by ordinary Mahayana cultivators. Ye Chenʼs Heavenly Emperor Sword was still suppressing Wang Tengʼs Star River Divine Whip, which, despite Wang Tengʼs death, needed containment to prevent it from escaping to the Star River Clan elders.

Ye Chenʼs lips curved. Alkaid had chosen this moment to strike, exploiting the gap. But who said he had only one Extreme Dao Weapon?

His other hand reached into the void, drawing a golden-red staff, its center stained crimson as if soaked in countless enemiesʼ blood. With a sweep of the Compliant Golden-Hooped Rod, its killing power pierced the scriptureʼs holy light, striking the book with a deafening boom, cracking the void around it.

Ye Chen aimed to suppress the scripture as he had the whip, intending it for Senior An—its style suited her. But Alkaidʼs control over his weapon far surpassed Wang Tengʼs. The scripture retreated like a meteor, vanishing into the sky, evading Ye Chenʼs Armament Secret suppression.

A voice followed: ”Heavenly Emperorʼs heir, in this golden age, no one is truly invincible. Your actions are too domineering!”

With that, Alkaidʼs presence vanished. He was gone.

The crowd erupted in shock. Theyʼd expected a titanic clash, given Alkaidʼs acknowledged strength, far above Wang Teng. Yet, he fled without showing his face?

This twist stunned everyone, their awe for Ye Chen deepening. Alkaid was no weakling, having bested many prodigies on the Immortal Path, including the Heavenly Demon Body. Yet, facing Ye Chen, he didnʼt even appear. Ye Chenʼs talent was terrifying.

Ye Chen scanned the void, finding no trace of Alkaid, and frowned. Heʼd really left, not even a hint of defiance. Too cautious, like his Senior Brother, but with far less flair.

With Alkaid gone, Ye Chen turned to his harvest. A wave of his hand swept up Wang Tengʼs origin and soul. The origin went into his inner worldʼs Devouring Heaven Demon Jar for refining, joining a stockpile of pure essence. The soul entered the Human Emperor Banner, its purple aura intensifying.

He then activated the Armament Secret, erasing Wang Tengʼs and the Star River Clanʼs imprints from the Star River Divine Whip in an instant. The whip ceased struggling, and Ye Chen claimed it with a grin.

This trip was a massive gain.
