The Spell's Range Covers the Entire Territory of China? Hand It Over to the Nation

68: Chapter 68 If the enemy can go, so can I!Dragon Summer remained unaware, for the time being, of the drastic changes occurring in the underground base thousands of kilometers away.

At this moment, as the ”Green Rain,” which could be called a miracle, finally ceased.

People’s Square had completely changed its appearance.

The flowerbeds in the median strip, originally meant for decoration, now had to be cordoned off with caution tape. The delicate rose bushes inside had grown like demonic tree spirits, with thick branches that even vaguely shimmered with a metallic luster.

The Young Soldier in charge of logistics was frowning as he used a chainsaw to prune the branches; otherwise, these things would block the road completely.

Against this backdrop of eerie and vigorous vitality, a global ”public trial spectacle” began without even a rehearsal.

There was no dignified gavel, no well-dressed jury, and not even a proper defendant’s seat had been prepared.

Old Ross, the former Ark Alliance Speaker who used to boss people around in the nuclear submarine, now looked like a mangy dog with its spine removed. He was carried by two heavily armored, faceless Spirit Warriors and tossed onto the high platform in the center of the square like trash.

Dozens of operating high-definition cameras and countless smartphone lenses were shoved into his dazed, old face from every angle.

The signal, transmitted through the Great Wall base station—which had now returned to full power—forcibly cut into every frequency band worldwide that could still receive signals.

Whether it was the underground bunkers still under the control of the Ark Alliance or the lone wanderers struggling to survive on the wasteland, as long as they had a piece of metal with a screen in their hands, the only content on the screen was one thing: the trial by Dragon Summer.

”I... I’ll talk! I’ll tell you everything!”

Old Ross clearly hadn’t recovered from the psychological trauma of the ”poison gas turning into a tonic.” Faced with those dark, gaping camera lenses, he even had the illusion that they weren’t cameras, but some kind of pump designed to drain his Soul.

There was no need for the interrogator to use force. This once arrogant Ark Alliance Speaker, even if just to secure a shred of ”leniency,” or simply because he didn’t want to shoulder the blame alone for something that would leave a bad name for eternity, began frantically spilling secrets.

”It’s not just the ’desolation’ virus... there’s also the ’Eden’ Project!”

Old Ross croaked at the camera: ”The Ark Alliance never intended to save everyone from the beginning. We didn’t just want to protect ourselves; we conducted screenings. Only elites with a genetic score over 80 were eligible for sanctuary. The remaining civilians... the rest were all fuel!”

He paused, then dropped a truth that would drive the world insane: ”Beneath a base in Texas, there are 300,000 live biological pods buried. Those who weren’t eligible for sanctuary were all to be turned into biological batteries, with their bioelectricity extracted via neural currents to power the Ark’s main brain!”

As this explosive news broke, it was as if a thunderclap had detonated in the minds of survivors across the globe.

In a dark and damp underground bunker in the West, a group of survivors huddled around a campfire, sharing moldy bread, stared intensely at the holographic screen. A middle-aged man with a greasy face dropped the bread in his hand; it hit the ground with a ”plop” and rolled into the ashes.

”They said... we were on the outside to rebuild our homes...” the middle-aged man said, his lips trembling, his eyes instantly turning bloodshot. ”They said supplies were scarce and asked us to hold out on the outside for a while, promising to take us in once the Ark was built... So, we were just batteries?”

The reason lies could be maintained was because there was no comparison, and no outlet for the truth.

But now, everything was laid bare before their eyes.

On one side of the screen was Dragon Summer’s lush, green city, soldiers full of vigor and vitality, and the Eastern miracle that could turn poisonous rain into sweet nectar. On the other side was the cruel reality of being treated as batteries, expendable materials, or even experimental lab rats by the government they trusted.

Old Ross continued to implicate others, seemingly wanting to spill every dirty secret he had ever known in his life to alleviate his inner fear.

”Also, the zombies weren’t an accident at all! They were failed products of the ’Immortal Serum’! The council had always used people from the slums for experiments... Although I was the Speaker, I was coerced too. I’m innocent!”

Dragon One stood at the side of the platform, hands behind his back, watching the hysterical old man with an expressionless face. He couldn’t even be bothered to refute the man’s ridiculous claim of ”I’m innocent.”

Facts speak louder than words. This public trial was less about judging Old Ross and more about completely shattering the last remaining illusions that Western survivors held about the ”Old Order.”

Not far from the platform, Su Yun held a mutated cucumber he had just cleared from the green belt, wiped it off casually, and took a bite.

”Crunch.”

A crisp sound rang out, and it even carried a faint, milky fragrance.

”Tsk, it’s a shame this old man didn’t become a storyteller,” Su Yun commented indistinctly while chewing the cucumber. ”You can’t practice this level of buck-passing unless you’ve had sixty years of cerebral thrombosis.”

Beside him, Qin Shuangyue looked down at the data stream skyrocketing on her tactical tablet: ”The effect is even better than expected. Several survivor settlements in the West that were just beginning to form have already erupted into serious riots. They not only no longer trust their original governments-in-exile, but many resistance organizations have even sent open telegrams via public frequencies, requesting Dragon Summer’s aid and... takeover.”

”Takeover?” Su Yun raised an eyebrow and swallowed the food in his mouth. ”It seems they can’t hold on anymore. That so-called lighthouse has finally been extinguished for good this time.”

Su Yun looked up, his gaze passing over the crowd to look at Dragon One standing on the high platform.

Their gazes met in the air; no verbal communication was needed.

Dragon One nodded slightly, straightened his collar, and walked to the microphone with steady, mountain-like steps.

This old man, who had just experienced a cleansing of his marrow and bones, now stood as straight as a pine. His silver hair swayed slightly in the wind, and in his eyes, weathered by time, burned a brilliance and fire like never before.

He did not look at the camera, but instead gazed toward the vast, distant skyline.

At this moment, the previously noisy square instantly fell silent, and even the global audience in front of their screens subconsciously held their breath.

Dragon One did not have a script. At his level, every word flowed from the will of the nation deep within his bones and blood; it required no decoration of flowery rhetoric.

”I am the head of the Dragon Summer Special Operations Group, Dragon One.”

The old man’s voice was deep and resonant. Through radio waves, it pierced through the wind and rain, spreading across the four oceans and seven continents.

”Just now, we not only thwarted a genocide operation targeting Dragon Summer, but we also witnessed the complete collapse of a so-called ’beacon of civilization’.”

”This world is sick. Not just because of the monsters roaming the streets, but because of the corruption and greed of the human heart.”

”The people of Dragon Summer have always believed in ’when poor, cultivate one’s own virtue; when prosperous, bring goodness to the world.’ In the past, we guarded the Great Wall because we had to survive, to find a way to live in the cracks. But now, we don’t just want to live; we want to make the spark of civilization burn brighter, to burn across this entire wasteland.”

”By decision of the Supreme Command, effective immediately, Dragon Summer will initiate ’Expansion Order No. 1’.”

As soon as these words were spoken, the entire venue was in an uproar, and the world was shaken.

Expansion Order!

In this apocalypse where everyone is protecting their own lives and only seeking to survive, all countries and factions are desperately shrinking their defense lines, wishing they could bury themselves deep in the Earth’s core like turtles. Yet, Dragon Summer actually wants to expand against the trend?

”We will no longer be limited to defense,” Dragon One’s voice was resonant and powerful, like metal striking stone. ”Defending the enemy within our national borders is passive and leads to being beaten. From today on, we have only one strategic goal—to keep the enemy outside our national borders!”

”Those who create monsters, we will liquidate; those enslaved by monsters, we will rescue. Since the Western ’Ark’ has rotted and sunk, then this great ship carrying Human Race civilization shall be steered by us, Dragon Summer!”

The old man waved his hand sharply.

”All troops, listen to my command!”

”Clatter!” On the square, thousands of soldiers stood at attention in unison; the sound of rifle butts hitting the ground was as uniform as a thunderclap.

”Order: Zhao Tiezhu’s Spirit Legion will serve as the vanguard, with the First and Third Mechanized Divisions as the flanks. Immediately divide into three routes and advance toward Southeast Asia, the Peninsula, and the Northern Territory! Clear the dungeons, restore order, and search for and rescue our Human Race compatriots!”

”If the enemy can go, so can we!”

As these eight words were spoken, an indescribable aura of blood and vitality instantly broke through the clouds after the rain.

The anger and hot blood that had been suppressed for too long erupted completely at this moment. The soldiers raised their weapons high, the citizens waved their fists, and the tsunami-like roar of shouts echoed through the sky.

Expansion!

This was a sleeping Dragon finally opening its eyes, baring its fangs to the world.

Not for aggression, but only to carve out a path for survival in this broken world!
