Weakest Beast Tamer Gets All SSS Dragons

Chapter 908 - Taming the Fifth Year - Attrition - Final Battle - 7

Yang maintained shouting orders to guards and students with amplified voice cutting through the chaos of the emerging battle. His leadership converted what could have been a disorganized response into structured defense where each combatant knew their specific role.

His Behemoth continued helping clear enemy beasts. The titanic mass of the creature made even Silver-rank mutants seem insignificant when crushed under weight measured in tons. The new academy guards provided by Selphira and Julius also descended. Gold-rank force that normally patrolled the perimeter being redirected to interior defense where threat had penetrated unexpectedly.

These were professional military tamers. Actual combat specialists whoʼd been stationed here to protect the important girls and even Ren.

Or at least help the insane kids fight…

They moved with military coordination, establishing defensive zones, creating interlocking fields of fire and using tactics that students didnʼt know that well yet because they came from military doctrine rather than academic training.

They engaged mutants with systematic efficiency that made even some experienced teachers look amateurish by comparison.

But the students in this academy werenʼt weak at all…

The remaining unspent students belonging to Ren and Lunaʼs teams gathered now as allies like their leaders did to use their Silver-rank beasts coordinately. Formations theyʼd practiced during the yearʼs first war exam were now being applied in a context where errors would have considerably more serious consequences than lost points.

This wasnʼt a simulation where defeat meant embarrassment and grade reduction. This was survival where mistakes meant injury or death.

Liora descended to the arena with her recently recovered wisp fire already manifested. Purple flames danced between mutants and caused damage exploiting the creatureʼs spiritual nature.

The wisp struck at the spiritual essence sustaining corrupt bodies rather than just burning flesh. They withered faster than simple fire damage would explain.

Larissa followed with her lynx and light fairy executing precise attacks eliminating threats without energy waste.

The lynx was speed and claws. Darting in, striking vulnerable points, retreating before any counterattack could land. The fairy provided support from range. Enhancing the lynx claws with light and shooting beams of the same concentrated light that seared corrupt flesh and created openings the lynx could exploit.

Taro arrived with his Terror and Beetle providing defensive support. The creatures established fortified positions from which other students of their year could operate with some protection.

The beetle was like a physical barrier and the Terror the spear behind it. Thick carapaces that could absorb tremendous punishment. Positioning to block approaches and force mutants into disadvantageous angles.

Together they created defensive anchor points. Small fortifications of living creatures that gave the defensive line structure and prevented chaos.

Liuʼs group also descended. So did Roranʼs team and Soraʼs squad. Others close to Ren also came down.

Loyalty and shared training overcame natural fear that the situation would justify. Theyʼd fought together in simulations. Had pushed each other in training sessions. Had built bonds through years of competition and cooperation. Those bonds now translated into willingness to risk themselves for collective survival.

The princessesʼ guards positioned themselves strategically. Already practically experienced professionals thanks to Renʼs antics and the girls they protected. Taking leadership roles in coordinating students less experienced in real combat.

These guards had dealt with threats that made Silver-rank mutants seem straightforward by comparison. They brought that experience to bear now. Calm voices directing panicked students.

Tamers with beasts matured by Renʼs methods filled the arena. Multiple dual-beast tamers whoʼd obtained potions thanks to Renʼs discoveries. A bunch of young Gold-rank tamers thanks to cultivation techniques Ren had shared.

Soon there were literally dozens of Gold and high Silver-rank beasts filling the arena that minutes before had been the stage for the final exam.

It was a concentration of power that would have been impressive in any context. But it seemed barely adequate when facing the continuous flow of mutants showing no signs of exhausting.

For every mutant killed, two more seemed to emerge from the earth. For every tunnel collapsed, another opened nearby. The defenders had overwhelming individual superiority but the enemy had numbers that threatened to make that superiority irrelevant through attrition.

When Ren looked up briefly to verify his parents were being evacuated appropriately to the safe upper zone, he encountered something that made pride mix with concern in his chest.

Two enormous black tortoises of Silver 3 rank were already descending toward the arena instead of retreating to safety.

These were beasts that were almost at the same cultivation time as his Wolverine. And riding on those tortoisesʼ shells were his parents. Firing water attacks while guiding beasts toward positions where they could contribute most effectively.

His motherʼs water techniques were support-focused. Barriers that protected allies. Streams that pushed mutants back without necessarily killing but creating space for others to attack from advantage.

His fatherʼs water attacks were more aggressive. High-pressure jets that could pierce through Silver-rank defenses. Waves that knocked multiple mutants off their feet simultaneously.

Together they covered each otherʼs weaknesses. One created opportunities the other exploited. Coordination that spoke to years of partnership and training together.

The Plants his parents had also cultivated, though technically still Iron rank, had surpassed the thousand-day method Ren had first shared with them. They were in the first level of extra maturation too and already applying the ten-thousand-day refinement that came after completing the base.

Refinement improving capabilities gradually without necessarily changing formal rank but increasing effectiveness considerably.

And though they were ”only” Iron according to technical classification, at least they could restrict mutant beastsʼ movements when coordinated appropriately.

The roots and vines they generated werenʼt strong enough to seriously damage Silver-rank opponents with elemental resistance. But they could entangle limbs and slow their approach sufficiently that other beasts could capitalize on the speed advantage.

And critical for survival of relatively weak plants was the water that their tortoises used to protect them from weak fire mutants generated. Liquid barrier extinguishing flames before they could burn vulnerable vegetation.

It was coordination demonstrating training his parents had invested. Synchronization between multiple beasts allowing weaknesses of one to be covered by strengths of another. The tortoises provided defense and water support. The plants provided crowd control and area denial. Together they created a system greater than the sum of individual parts.

It was a support role. Not glamorous... But valuable in context where every second of delay meant another opportunity for stronger allies to finish enemies that weaker beasts had held in place.

Ren felt complex emotions observing his parents reject safety in favor of contributing to the defense that their son had initiated.

Pride seeing capabilities theyʼd developed being applied effectively. His teachings bearing fruit in their hands. Proof that his methods worked even for those whoʼd started cultivation late with inferior foundation.

Fear knowing they were exposing themselves to danger that could result in serious injury or worse. They werenʼt invincible… Silver 3 tortoises were strong but not indestructible. One mistake and they could be overwhelmed by sheer numbers.

Gratitude for not having to face this alone. For having family whoʼd choose fighting alongside him instead of hiding while others risked lives.

Thanks to potions and methods Ren had shared that had allowed them to advance from Iron to Silver 3 in what would have been an impossible timeframe by previous standards. All that worried him but also meant they were no longer weak by any standard and could have their head held high.
