Help! The Villainess Trapped in the Beast World's Drama!

Chapter 691: Chapter 605: Chased by Ghosts (Bonus Chapter)

Entering the house, with the warm fire burning, Shen Tang took off her thick cloak and coat, rubbed her hands together and breathed out a misty breath, still visible in the air.

With an apologetic tone, Lin Xi said, ”I’m sorry for the inconvenience, Your Majesty. The cold wave has hit again recently within the Empire. When the weather clears tomorrow, I will personally take you over.”

Shen Tang smiled, ”Thank you very much then.”

Lin Xi, feeling honored and surprised, waved his hands repeatedly, ”Oh, not at all, not at all~ Actually, when my father sent me here, I was quite reluctant. I didn’t expect to meet Your Majesty; it’s really a stroke of luck from heaven!”

As he spoke, he looked at her, his delicate and refined face slightly flushed, with a gentle and clear expression in his doe-like eyes, as if they could melt a person, ”I guess it’s fate between us. Since we parted last time, I’ve missed you, hoping to meet you again, and finally, my wish came true...”

Xiao Jun’s face darkened, stepping in front of Shen Tang, his tone lukewarm, ”Enough! No need for more pleasantries, it’s getting late. See if you can arrange a few more rooms for us to squeeze in.”

Shen Tang quickly nudged him gently with her elbow, thinking: He’s a prince from a neighboring country, can’t this stubborn leopard be a bit more polite?

Xiao Jin gave a cold snort, remembering how this deer had been flirting with Tangtang on the Light Computer, blatantly trying to steal her away. The fact that he hadn’t made a move was already quite restrained!

Xue Yinzhou also gave Lin Xi a cold look, not saying anything, but the pressure made the young man’s face turn pale. He swallowed hard and stepped back a couple of steps, giving a dry laugh, ”Don’t worry about the rooms. I’ve already sent someone to tidy them up, and I’ll take you to see them shortly.”

Shen Tang casually asked, ”What about the residents of the city? We didn’t see a single person after entering.”

”It’s too cold, everyone is staying indoors. To prevent them from wandering around, I’ve implemented a curfew order and am patrolling the city with the army.” Lin Xi sighed, ”There have always been few people in the city. Once the cold wave hit, many Beastmen passed away.”

”Recently, there have been quite a few casualties, and many residents from small towns and tribes have moved to larger cities, which are safer. Few Beastmen remain in the city, so make sure not to roam outside the city.”

”I see.” Shen Tang nodded in understanding.

Soon, the rooms were ready, and the sky had completely darkened. Shen Tang first arranged for the accompanying Beastmen to settle down.

”Your Majesty, the rooms here are damp and cold, it’s tough for females to endure. Why not come to my place? I have a spare room there.” Lin Xi sidled up, suggesting opportunistically.

Xiao Jun’s fist clenched tightly, feeling a strong urge to punch someone, what to do?

Shen Tang smiled helplessly, ”It’s fine, I’ll stay with the Beast Husbands.”

She had endured tough times before; she wasn’t that delicate. Just having a place to sleep was enough.

Lin Xi, a bit disappointed, said ”Alright then” and, seeing there was nothing else for him, had no choice but to leave.

At night, the cold wave outside was howling even fiercer, with wind whistling in through the small windows. The room was dimly lit; there was no electricity, let alone electric lights.

Lu Xiao raised a glowing orb in his palm, suspended in mid-air, emitting a bright and gentle light.

Shen Tang exclaimed, thinking his Light Skill was truly useful, an essential for home and travel, what a necessary Beast Husband!

She took out some prepared jerky and dry food from her space, and after the family filled their stomachs, it was time to rest, needing to set out again the next day.

The blanket was damp, carrying a musty smell. Lu Xiao retrieved clean and soft bedding from his space and replaced all of it.

As soon as he made the bed, a leopard unceremoniously crawled into the blanket, forming a small mound on the bed. After warming up the bed, Xiao Jun lowly called to the female, ”Awoo!”

Come over and sleep!

Shen Tang couldn’t help but laugh, not even bothering to take off her clothes, she directly snuggled into the blanket.

Xiao Jun turned to hold her in his arms, contentedly wrapping her with his four paws. Shen Tang was enveloped in fluff, let out a comfortable sigh, closed her eyes, and quickly fell asleep.

This big bed could easily fit four or five people, though the leopard domineeringly occupied more than half of the space. Lu Xiao, with a good temper, said nothing. Seeing there was space left on the female’s left side, he settled down there.

Xue Yinzhou gave a glance, but didn’t join them in the squeeze. He reverted to his original form, quietly coiled in the corner, and closed his eyes.

The fire in the fireplace crackled, casting clawing shadows on the wall, like they were coming to life, silently spreading toward the female’s bedside.

Xue Yinzhou seemed aware of something, abruptly opening his eyes, his icy purple pupils contracting into thin slits.

But when he looked over, nothing was there, only the fire quietly burning.

He frowned, flicked his tongue, but didn’t detect any unfamiliar Beastman scent.

He lifted his serpent body, gazing toward the bed, noticing the female appeared to be having a nightmare, brow furrowed, murmuring softly, ”Don’t come over...”

”Tangtang.” Xue Yinzhou immediately reverted to human form, nervously holding her hand.

The icy touch startled Shen Tang awake, exclaiming ”Ah” as she opened her eyes to the strikingly beautiful yet worried face of the silver-haired man.

Xiao Jun and Lu Xiao also awoke, seeing her pale face, hurried over to coax in soft voices, ”What’s wrong? Did Tangtang have a nightmare?”

”Stupid snake, were you bullying Tangtang while we were asleep?”

Xue Yinzhou wasn’t in the mood to bicker with Xiao Jin, his purple eyes looked at Shen Tang with only concern, his cold, slender hand gently caressing her face, ”What did you dream about?”

Looking at her Beast Husbands, Shen Tang gradually calmed down. She patted her chest, still shaken, ”I just had a dream, it was so dark in it, lots of people were chasing me, like vengeful ghosts... But it seemed they weren’t trying to kill me, they kept shouting ’Save me’...”

Really baffling.

When Shen Tang was young, she often had such nightmares, but rarely as she grew up. This was the first time since coming to the Beast World that she’d had such a dream!

A system reminder sounded, [Host, don’t forget you have S-rank spiritual power. This might not be a dream, but rather you ’seeing’ something.]

Shen Tang was even more surprised, ”See?”

[That’s right, when you fall asleep, I detect that your spiritual power is uncontrollably released outward, this spiritual power likely ”sees” things that ordinary people cannot see.]

Shen Tang’s spine instantly went cold, and goosebumps rose all over her body.

She was always an atheist, but at this moment, she couldn’t help wondering if there really are ghosts in this place?!

She cautiously released her spiritual power again. This time she didn’t see any ”ghosts,” but discovered something even more shocking—

This city is a deserted city!

That’s right, a city almost devoid of signs of life.

Besides their group and the stationed army, there were no other beastmen; every house was empty, not a single silhouette.

It’s impossible for the entire city to be evacuated so cleanly.

Xiao Jin and the others were also shocked after hearing her, ”Didn’t Lin Xi say there were quite a few beastmen left in the city? Afraid they’d run wild, they stationed an army here; how could there not be a single person?”

Lu Xiao said in a low voice, ”Unless he’s lying to us.”

”But why would he lie to us?” Even if he deceives us, it seems to bring him no benefit.

Shen Tang furrowed her brows even tighter, her intuition told her there was a secret hidden within, and her originally relaxed mood became heavy.

She closed her eyes and once again spread her spiritual power like a spiderweb. Soon, she found where Lin Xi was staying.

Lin Xi was not yet asleep; it seemed he just finished talking with the leading general and was walking toward the bathroom.

The pattering sound of water fell without a hint of warmth, and a damp and chill aura permeated the air.

Lin Xi was a Deer Beastman, specifically an Icefield Spirit Deer, unafraid of the cold. He slowly took off his outer garment, revealing a section of his slender, snow-white shoulder, with his long white hair hanging down his back.

Just as he was about to continue undressing, he suddenly sensed something, instantly putting his clothes back on, shooting a sharp gaze in a certain direction, ”Who?”

Boom—!

The spiritual power connection abruptly severed, and Shen Tang felt a sweetness in her throat, looking incredulously in that direction.

She was now a Primordial Beast Tier beastman; could her spiritual power actually be detected and still backfire?

Was it coincidence? Or...

Moreover, Lin Xi’s gaze just now was so cold, so vigilant, completely unlike his usual gentle and innocent demeanor.

Isn’t he only at the Eighth Rank? How could he be so strong?

Shen Tang’s face turned pale, not just in confusion but more in shock.

”Did you just use spiritual power? What did you see?” Xiao Jin saw her expression wasn’t right, heartaching terribly, knowing she must have discovered something.

Shen Tang seriously told the Beast Husbands about this discovery.

The expressions of several also changed, one after another.

Xiao Jun punched a wall, causing a few pieces of wall to crumble down, his face gloomy, ”I knew this guy wasn’t up to any good, couldn’t possibly be a good thing! You must not easily trust words from these foreign males in the future.”

Shen Tang was momentarily speechless, reluctantly saying, ”You can’t say that; what if he has his reasons. However, we should indeed be a bit cautious and see what he truly intends.”

Early the next morning, Lin Xi came over with his men to call them for breakfast.

The dining table basically consisted of roasted meat and meat soup, not a single green vegetable in sight, though this was considered a feast on the Icefield.

During the meal, Lin Xi occasionally chatted with them, maintaining the same gentle demeanor, but after last night’s events, Shen Tang couldn’t help but feel something was off.

Shen Tang casually asked, ”What about the remaining citizens in the city? Are they going back to the Royal City with us, or will they continue to stay here?”

Lin Xi replied, ”The end of this cold wave is still unknown; some beastmen are unwilling to leave a place they’ve lived for so long. We can’t leave the city completely empty, can we? Those unwilling to leave will continue staying here, and the Imperial City will send supplies for support.”

”That’s good!” Shen Tang responded verbally while discreetly taking out the feather from space.

Immediately, she found the feather had once again lost its function.

Exactly the same as last time.

Shen Tang’s heart jolted, it seemed Lin Xi indeed was hiding something from them, definitely not as simple as he appeared!

In her mind, a thought flashed like a thunderclap; she suddenly wanted to know if there was any special mark on Lin Xi’s back...

Unfortunately, she was a step too late last night, seeing nothing.

She suppressed her thoughts, saying nothing. After finishing the meal, the group set off towards the Imperial City.

The journey was relatively smooth, without encountering any major cold waves.

Three days later, they arrived at the Imperial City, where a welcoming ceremony had already been prepared.
